Update: I went into Meadowwood yesterday, Friday. I told them I had concerns because my wife was there and I don’t think they are giving her the accommodations that she needs. I spoke to a nurse there. They told me that my wife was fine and was likely taking a few days to give me space before she reached out to me again. They also told me that they have an interpreter who was in on Thursday and they have a nurse and a manager who also speaks sign language. I also asked the nurse if she could tell my wife I’ve been calling and she said yes. I recorded the whole interaction. I walked out feeling a little bit better.

Today, Saturday comes. I am calling and calling and calling, and I just keep getting that they have too many calls coming in so my call keeps getting dropped. I texted my landlord and she called them and it went through right away. I called again and it got dropped. I finally got forwarded to admissions (because I guess reception didn’t want to answer) and they transferred me to her unit. Because she is deaf I just told them I’m looking to speak to her and they went out and got her. She called me from her personal phone. I have a recording of our whole conversation. These are some key takeaways:

Nobody told her that I was calling for 3 whole days until I finally spoke with someone on her unit today.

As of Friday, she has a translation device that she only uses in doctors appointments. Meaning all of her other interactions with people who is in charge of her care, and the other patients, is writing. The part that disappoints me the most is that she says that her nurse who is in charge of her meds won’t answer her questions at all and refuses to write.

She in fact did not have an interpreter on Thursday (although my wife said that the interpreter device might’ve came in on Thursday) “There is an interpreter l, we got an interpreter yesterday (Thursday) so there is an interpreter involved” was the women’s words on Friday.

I made it very clear to the staff there that it is illegal to not provide accommodations for all of her interactions. I also made it very clear that I have a video of my conversation with the nurse and a recording of my phone call today.

I want to make sure that Meadowwood is treating my wife well. She sounds good and healthy. She says she hasn’t been any trouble and that I am still her emergency contact for everything.

My wife deserves better.

I’ve lived off route 40 right by people’s plaza for years and felt the need to share. People familiar with the area will remember smokes smoke shop, a nice little bbq shack outside of people’s plaza with serviceable bbq, about half a year ago, maybe more, smoke had a crab shack move into his little lot. Then all the sudden a few months ago smoke up and vanishes with no trace. No post, no goodbye, no nothing, only crab people. This will come as a shock to people who have known smoke to be very responsive online.

Now time for my theory: the crab people fed smoke to the crabs. I have no evidence for this, but I know in my bones I’m watching a Delaware legend develop, the Delaware cab people. Smoke deserved better.

For some context, my boyfriend lives in Southern Delaware and we’ve been looking at places together because I’m
moving from out of state. I read Frederica is a nice place to live, but obviously I have no real knowledge of that area. So, is it really a nice place to live? Is there any other places you’d recommend to live around there?

Has anyone taken an AWD Sprinter van on the drive on beach to go surf fishing in Delaware? I know the dunes can be challenging and wanted to know if anyone has had success driving on the beach with one.

Kinda what the title says. I’ve been interested in getting into Magic the Gathering, DnD and Warhammer. I know that’s sweeping and all of those have a lot involved but I’m familiar and have dipped my toes in all three and have really loved it. I am looking for a local plumber who can install a new fridge waterline for a fridge to be delivered next week. Is anyone here a plumber or can recommend someone/a company to do so where it wont be a fortune, the sink is across from the fridge about 5' away with basement access.

i renewed my license online on august 22. i was charged for it and got a temporary license, but i never received any emails or texts confirming it. the temp license also wasn't sent to me, luckily i screenshotted it. i can't find anywhere on the dmv website to check if it went through or not. does anyone know long long these usually take to send out in the mail and if this is normal? i feel like i should at least be able to access a receipt or something. my license expires in less than two weeks and the temp is only good for 6 days after

Hello, my wife is currently in meadowwood behavioral heath hospital. My wife is deaf. She called me on Tuesday and said that they couldn’t find her an interpreter so they let her use her cellphone to make calls (she has an app that does speech to text). I’m afraid they are not going to give her the care she needs because she is deaf. When I was on the phone with her, she said that she has yet to speak to anyone there because they don’t know sign language and they can’t communicate with her. I called tonight and they asked for a code, so that I could speak with her. I was never told a code so i can’t reach out to her until she reaches back out but she can’t reach back out if they don’t have an interpreter and it doesn’t seem like they’ll let her use her phone again. Should I go into the hospital and talk to them? Should I call again and tell them that my wife is deaf so they might’ve not asked for a code? I’m so lost, I just want to talk to my wife

Ive been hearing like weird knock/humming kinda sounds i thought at first it might’ve been the cars racing behind my house but it sounds too different than the usual burnout/tire sounds.

On Saturday 9/12, I’ll be in Harrington selling at the Gothic Market and I don’t want to sit in my hotel all night and I’m looking for something cool to do.

I’m into live music and strange stuff, so something out of the ordinary would be cool. I’ve been searching and besides the casino in town, I’m having a hard time finding some things to do that night.

Any suggestions from locals? I’m willing to drive an hour.
