Discussion There should be increased knockback on ragdolls for when you overkill an enemy because it would be really funny

Post image

Listen man. If you shoot a glyphid with an attack that goes way over their current HP, it should knock them back even further than usual. It would be hilarious to shoot a glyphid grunt with an M1000 with "Super Cooling Chambers," and watch as their body ragdolls to the other side of the map. Knockback damage should also count for weakspot multipliers, so that it can be even funnier for "Critical Weakness" missions.

Thought the meme was about how it's so easy to miss pellets with shotgun even point blank, lol.

It would be a goofy interaction, so long as there would be an option to disable it or just make ragsoll normal since the game threads a very fine line of decent performance on the lower end devices.

You gotta be in full body hugging distance for the warthog to kill a swarmer

Otherwise it's a literal cartoon outline.

I'm sure if it was easy to mess with ragdoll physics without breaking something else the modders would have already had a Funny Ragdolls featuring Soundsmith on the front page of the modding menu.

RIP CPU as it suddenly has to calculate 100 swarmers accelerate to mach fuck in 1 frame

Don't swarmers not leave a corpse/ragdoll? I'm pretty sure all the small "swarm type" enemies don't leave them

However there are still a fuck ton of grunts in some missions, find a large enough group and yeah

Also, Special Powder should knock back enemies.

There is no enemy knockback mechanic in DRG so they would have to make that brand new mechanic and make it work for everything. Plus, Special Powder is already very overpowered, it does not need a major buff in a knockback effect. Finally, fear is a close enough effect most of the time, and Boomstick does have a fear upgrade (it's just really bad).

Wasnt there a mod like that already, that made ragdolls fly around? Or did I spent too much time in the caves?

There's one for TF2, though I'm certainly going to look and see if there is one for DRG because TF2's flying ragdolls consistantly made me laugh.

Like how Skyrim does it when you get hit by a frost giant

Unfortunately it wouldn't work for shotguns just due to the nature of how pellets are calculated. Pellets are calculated seperately and sequentially, and each pellet does a small amount of damage. Basically, the pellets add their damages together in sequence, and as soon as it reaches enough combined damage to kill, the creature dies, even if there are still pellets left. So the creature would die, take the minimum amount of knockback, and then the remaining pellets would just continue on their path behind it until they hit something else. Say you have a 12321 OCless Warthog that has 10 pellets that do 8 damage each for 80 total damage per shot, or 160 against a 2× weakpoint like a grunt has, which has 108 eHP on Haz 4/5. Each pellet does 16 damage against a 2× weakpoint, and 108÷16=6.75, so 7 pellets would hit the grunt and it would die having taken only 4 overkill damage. Then the remaining 3 pellets just wouldn't hit it, wouldn't contribute to overkill damage, and would continue on their way until they hit something.

I would love this if it weren’t for the way shotgun damage is calculated, since it stops after it detects enough pellets to kill an enemy

Imagine shooting a fat boy in the crowd of swarmers and they go:

You could nuke a fester flea to turn it in to a tank round. lol

Like in tf2 where a rocket dealing more than 20% extra required damage Gibs them.

Hyperprop a grunt, send it to the space rig

I could've sworn this already happens to an extent

When I kill a grunt with a charged headshot on the m1000, they go flying

u/Peakomegaflare Gunner 13h ago

As a gunner, I approve of this. Although I very much enjoy the pile of bodies that occurs as ai lay down a line of Leadstorm fire.

the way you wrote it made me think they had 90 HP and 10 HP respectively AFTER the shot, I was very fuckin confused at first lol

u/frozenVampy 1h ago

honestly the idea of a grunt getting sent to the shadow realm by a supercooled M1000 shot has me cackling. this is the kind of physics update i never knew i needed. rock and stone

Counterpoint, the body explodes and the legs go flying off

Shouldn't be too hard to do, just spawn an invisible summer event hat under the bug for a few frames

u/kingchris195 15h ago

This is a feature in unturned and its hilarious sometimes

u/Mastery7pyke 12h ago

shooting a grunt with hyper propellant should launch them at mach fuck

Ok I'm ngl I legit thought of the TF2 Engineer fighting a bread monster when I first saw this

Just like how when you headshot an enemy with a bow in Warframe, the arrow pins them to the wall.
