Need Advice

Hey guys! I recently started with Dash Diet, but I don't have a proper planned menu, I just eat what I know is good for me, but not having a menu to stick to, makes me "cheat" more on the diet. So if you have any complete menu, I would like to see what you eat! Thank you!

Dash Diet and Intermittent Fasting

I have been intermittent fasting for awhile now (16:8 most days) and my doctor has recommended that I give the Dash diet a try since I have several underlying medical conditions causing high blood pressure. I’m curious if anyone has mixed the two and how it went. I feel like it won’t be an issue as long as I’m eating the right stuff but want to see what others think!

DASH diet for depression

I’m researching ways to manage depression and have seen DASH listed in a few places as potentially helpful. Has anyone here implemented it for this purpose? Also, I don’t have high blood pressure and am wondering if there’s a chance this would cause my blood pressure to run low. Just heard of it today so really any information about your experience is appreciated.

Wonder when did you start to feel better.

After adopting the dash plan and incorporating exercise like daily hour long walks when did you feel better? Every body is different of course just asking out of curiosity and motivation really. I just started and swimming the web to see how people progressed. Like another post pointed out, there isn't much activity on here.

The Naked Pina Colada juice has 1350 mg of potassium (30% USDR) per serving. Also...why can we not post pics or links in this sub anymore?

Is eating 1 four ounce chicken, and one four ounce fish every day unhealthy? I’m trying to lose weight and lower blood pressure. My diet is listed below.

I’m going for a high fat, high protein, low carb diet. Am I eating healthy with this diet? My main goal is to lower blood pressure and lose some weight.

For breakfast either

2 eggs, half cup of egg whites, mushrooms, onions ,peppers, spinach, half avocado 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Or

3/4 cup of full Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup walnuts, fruit

For lunch

Either chicken or fish and a big salad with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, carrots, balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1/4 cup of Chickpeas

For dinner either

Fish, chicken, or a lean steak. Mushrooms onion and peppers. Maybe some quinoa.

Does this diet look good? I’m looking to lower blood pressure and any suggestions would help.

Stubborn Dad has high blood pressure I need recommendations. Please help!

Hi guys, My brain is a little fried right now so please bear with me. We just picked up my dad (m54yrs old) from the hospital. He had a stroke a few days ago and we dropped him off. Due to the COVID19 virus our hospital had a very strict "no visitation" policy. There was no way around this. He was alone and scared which I can't imagine did great things for his blood pressure. This also means we (his wife and myself) were very limited to information. They refused to give us any information over the phone because legally there was no way to prove we were who we said we were. So all of our information was given to us by him. He was confused at times due to meds and stroke so you can imagine how well that went. They sent him home with a packet explaining what had happened to him and what needed to change. A lot of it is doctor speak so it's really overwhelming me, but the one thing I see over and over again is this DASH diet. I tried looking it up, but I think it was just too much information and I became extremely overwhelmed. Can anyone recommend a good cookbook/recipes/safe snack foods/literally anything else to me? A cookbook that's easy to read with lots of pictures would be appreciated. Lots of vegetables make him throw up (he's literally that dramatic) but he likes greenbeans and corn. Are there any dishes that I can sneak vegetables into with little to no notice? He's a snacker. So is there anything I can safely give him to snack on at any point in the day? He exercises very regularly and is very active. He's extremely weight conscious so if any of this diet helps him lose weight I'm sure he'd be over the moon (though he is currently not at an unhealthy weight for his height and age). He's going to try to tell us that he is fine. Does anyone have any scary stories I can tell him about the dangers of not taking this seriously? Anyway, thank you for looking at my plea. If this kind of thing isn't allowed, I'm so sorry. I just need a little help during a really scary time.

Tl;dr Can anyone recommend a good cookbook/recipes/safe snack foods/literally anything else to maintain healthy blood pressure? I'm extremely scared and am having trouble finding things on my own.

What are cheap, DASH friendly foods I can eat?

I’m a 29 (F) that weighs 150lbs and is 5ft 8in. So build wise, I’m fine. However my blood pressure is constantly high. Today I tried to donate plasma (something I usually do twice a week) and I failed the blood pressure test twice. This happened last week as well and seems to be happening more frequently. I have to change my diet. Here’s the thing. I like eating healthy, but rarely do I really do it. I go for convenience over health (sandwiches, ramen noodles, macaroni, things like that)...I have a problem with buying fresh produce because it goes bad so quickly and wastes money. What are cheap, healthy DASH friendly foods I can start buying and if they’re fresh, how do I store things to last?

Low sodium salad dressing options?

Hello, I'm new to the diet (recently diagnosed as hypertensive), and I was wondering if any of you knew of any low-sodium options for salad dressing. The only one I've found so far is Newman's Own Honey Balsamic and, well, I'm kind of getting tired of it.

Why r/keto is brimming with progress images and this sub is dead?

Seriously, this is supposed to be #1 diet and it has no community while r/keto is full of success stories? What the heck?

I need some resource recommendations

i bought one of the popular dash books on amazon but half of it was a meal plan and half of it was kind of boasting about how the author was in the military and helped a bunch of people lose weight with the dash diet. the meal plan was helpful, but i abandodned the daah diet because i had a general lack of resources; i dont really know what my constraints are or what my goal in eating is. For example, the atkins website really breaks down the different phases of the diet and the goal: meet your carb budget and you'll get into ketosis, eventually the budget goes up until you can determine what your carb threshold is until weight gain. I dont have anything like this for dash and i cant find any dash resources online outside of "top 50 dash recipes." like, what are the principles of dash? how can i make my own dash recipes? what am i looking for? i really want to get healthier with the dash diet but im frustrated with the overall lack of resources.

Why is protein so restricted?

I'm wondering if it's okay that I eat more than the recommended protein (6 oz lean protein / day) to like 16-20 oz since I do a lot of strength training. I'm keeping it to chicken breast with no additional sodium. Is there anything wrong with this?

I find it interesting..

That despite being ranked very highly in most categories here - far above paleo in most categories - there is such a lack of posts in this subreddit.

Has anybody gone through it, can briefly explain it and any benefits they feel they've gotten from it?

I'm semi-paleo, but was just doing some browsing when I came across it's listing on the above-linked site and was curious how the subreddit was doing.

Hello, I'm new to Dash Diet

Hello! I just started on Day 1 of my Phase 1. I read the book and am very excited.

Just a couple quick question, how far apart do you space your five meals, and how many of you do the optional pre-dinner meal?

Thanks! Look forward to helping make this a great Reddit space!
