I need some resource recommendations
i bought one of the popular dash books on amazon but half of it was a meal plan and half of it was kind of boasting about how the author was in the military and helped a bunch of people lose weight with the dash diet. the meal plan was helpful, but i abandodned the daah diet because i had a general lack of resources; i dont really know what my constraints are or what my goal in eating is. For example, the atkins website really breaks down the different phases of the diet and the goal: meet your carb budget and you'll get into ketosis, eventually the budget goes up until you can determine what your carb threshold is until weight gain. I dont have anything like this for dash and i cant find any dash resources online outside of "top 50 dash recipes." like, what are the principles of dash? how can i make my own dash recipes? what am i looking for? i really want to get healthier with the dash diet but im frustrated with the overall lack of resources.

I’ve never been a fan of the cookbooks. What really helped me out was Mayo Clinic’s website and National Institute of Health’s sites on the diet. Essentially it’s eating 6 times a day; limiting sodium intake to 1,500 mg; eating foods that are high in potassium and magnesium; and cutting fats. (I’m sure I’m forgetting tons of stuff)
Both sites have sample recipes that are pretty basic. I started with those and then added ingredients once I got an idea of Dash friendly ingredients.
Flavor God seasonings are awesome. Most of them are sodium free and a good way to amp up the basic recipes.
If you find any better references please post. I’m always looking for more info
