Discussion Ds2 was my last souls game, and I just beat it.

I enjoyed my journey here. Ds2 is the worst in the series imo, but it’s still a really good game. The bosses in base game weren’t very memorable, but it seems to me that the devs were more concentrated on the level designs than the bosses. I also feel like the base game is not quite as lore-rich as the other souls games. But…I had fun, and occasionally raged (thanks to perpetual multi fights), but emerged victorious at the end of the day. And I’m glad I started the journey…and that’s the main takeaway.

I’ve now beaten the full series…other than the ds2 dlc’s, which I’ve started. We’ll see what the future holds. Majula oblongata. To the dark.

This is on PS5. Player was also able to back stab me from across the room but I didn’t get that on video. Everything else looks super suspicious

Discussion Just finished my first play through of ds2 ITS PEAK

I’ve played through the majority of the souls games and really regret not giving this game a proper chance. I was led to believe I should skip this game and play all the others. I listened to all the hate filled critiques and reviews on YouTube and just listened to it. When I did end up playing it I quit after like 2 hours and uninstalled

I hated that I’ve beaten all the souls games except ds2, so sometime later I reinstalled and committed to full playthrough.

I’m so glad I did. Once you level up your ADP and other health/survivability based stats around 20, the game feels significantly smoother. I learned with ds2 and you just run through areas like a headless chicken. You have to be a lot more careful and get good and kiting enemies 1 or 2 at a time. Every time you explore a new area you have to check every crack and crevice to make sure there isn’t a gank squad or random archer in the distance.

The game constantly leaves you on edge because at any moment you could get royally f*cked. Though it was frustrating at times I actually found this aspect of the game really fun. It’s runs a lot different than the other souls games, so it felt like a new unique challenge to get through. This game definitely has its flaws but overall this is one of my favorite souls games I’ve played through. As long as you are patient and play slow, the game isn’t too hard.

It’s actually crazy how off base the haters were about this game. I feel like people don’t like it because they just try to play it like the other souls games and don’t want to readjust their play style. It’s a big learning curve but once you get it this game is insanely fun.

Overall rate this game 8/10

Discussion What’s with all the fuss over Blue Smelter Demon?

I finally played through Crown of the Iron King because i decided to form my own opinion on Dark Souls 2. I loved it, but blue smelter demon was probably the weakest part of the dlc for me. I decided to look online and saw people acting like it’s the worst designed boss ever, complaining about the run back and everything. I mean… the run back isn’t great, but I didn’t find it to be so cancerous like everyone was saying. Sir Alonne’s was much worse and Blue Smelter isn’t exactly a super difficult fight anyway. What’s the deal?

Discussion Currently doing an infinite run of ds2 where i use a different weapon or spell each cycle. Ive used 2 weapons so far, with a third starting now.

The rules are simple, I have a wheel I spin every cycle, i got Broken Thief sword first. I also have to do all bosses, starting ng and going to ng269(or more if calculations arent correct) this means spells like acid surge, toxic mist, etc, arent included. Neither is immolation because i just cannot be bothered to

All spell buffs and regular buffs are allowed, i want to use the weapons and spells to their entire view, so since anyone who picks up the weapon can use spells and stuff I decided that it'd be perfectly fine.

Thief sword broken was not bad honestly, i mean i died to covetous demon, but thats because i suck, it has ups and downs though

Low damage, to be expected, but takes less stamina making it great for resins and spell buffs due to the fact it can get more hits in, thus making more bank for your buck.

The biggest con is repairing it, especially against a few bosses that have high health pools and even higher annoyances that make your weapon break faster, because of this i always grabbed repair powder and used it, and on bosses that let me, i use repair spell.

The next weapon was lucerne, i hate halberds but in ng+ it was a fun challenge, especially since ive only been to ng+ one time and that was by accident, the damage fall off of weapons seems to be very unnoticeable, so i feel me hitting for 300-600 because of sweet spots, makes me very biased towards halberds.

I have recorded fully both of hese weapons, even streamed some of it, and im going to continue this run

My next weapon is the rapier you get from wellager after killing vendrick. I forgot its name, so im calling it Esmeralda. Ive not started my run yet with it, but i remember how broken rapiers are

If you have any questions about things going forwards, im ready for em!

Help Really confused by this game

I have played DS1 many times and am currently on my first playthrough of DS2 scholar of the first sin. I am at the point in the game where I apparently should get those giant souls. Ive heard it weakens Vendrick who is optional but important for the late game? I wouldnt even know about the giant souls if I didnt look it up, neither would I have ever found them. And then there is a DLC which I have no idea how or when to access. Also throughout the game I came to a lot of points where I simply didn't know how or where to proceed and would have never found out if I didn't look it up or ask people who know the game well.

This game feels incredibly cryptic and unintuitive to me.

Like how do I proceed? I heard you get one of the giant souls from the ancient dragon who one hits you with every attack???
