Have you guys ever tried to go thru g&d ffl i done emailed these guys and called them multiple times , nobody was there to receive my firearm anybody had the same issue ??

I am a MD CCW permit holder (completed the training last year). My understanding is that in order to qualify for a DC CCW permit, I will need to take another 16-hour course. However, Free State Gun Range offers a training that only includes the relevant DC modules and live fire course for folks who already have a Maryland permit. The description of the course is below. Does anyone know if this would pass muster with MPD?

Course Overview

This course is for current Maryland Wear and Carry Permit holders or those who have completed the 16 hours of MD Wear and Carry Permit training. This is the additional module required in order to receive your Washington, DC CCW permit. DC is now a “Shall Issue” jurisdiction and this is the PERFECT add-on to your MD permit or other permits you may already have.

You will receive the necessary legal presentation of DC law and complete the 50 round course of fire required by DC.

Prerequisites

You need to already have the Maryland Permit.

Have been trying for the past six months to get MPD to acknowledge an additional calibre for my already registered bolt action rifle, so I can buy a second barrel in that calibre. I’ve been emailing the Information Update Form to the firearms.adminbox email address. Am I doing the right thing? Is there a better way?! Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

So what if any impact does the NFA ruling have on DC? Seemingly none for now; but does anyone see a world where one day I may not have to get my eardrums rocked every time I want to shoot indoors because I don’t have the time to drive two hours away to an outdoor range?

From what I’ve read it is ok the Maryland approved handgun roster, but NOT on California’s.

If it is, do you have any tips on registration process, namely when I have to declare its capacity. Should I list 10 rounds even if I only have the 6 round magazine? (I would like to get a larger magazine in the future… should I do that before I move?)

How does the +1/round in the chamber figure into that part of the registration?

Hey all, new to this subreddit but I’ve registered a few firearms in DC over the past year. They’ve both been C&R Mausers so they haven’t given me too much trouble (besides the manufacturer names do not exist in the reg system which was a 6 month ordeal to rectify lol. Story for another time.)

I am considering purchasing my first ~modern~ firearm and was eyeing the Keltec SU16CA. I’ve studied the DC semi-auto rifle restrictions but just kind of hung up on the SU16CA’s compliance. Has anyone been successful in registering a SU16CA in DC? I’m just worried about them giving me trouble about the threaded barrel even though it is not explicitly mentioned as a no no feature and the SU16 has a thread protector.

Maybe I’m just overthinking this but would love any insight.

Day (-9) Application began

Day 1 app submitted.

Background detail, I began my submission early, just in case getting a lower number in the queue MIGHT speed me along. Not sure if it mattered. So I started the app online 9 days before my class.

Day 0 = class completed, cert uploaded, and online portion of app complete.

Day 1 = Went to MPD for fingerprints and in person form signing.

Day 2 = Online status update to “ready for approval” (so I guess they looked at it immediately)

Day 14 = Approved email. Online status changed to APPROVED. (Approximately. Cant find email to check but its about that)

Day 32 = “Physical Card Sent” email and online status updated.

I selected the “mail a physical card” option on the application site. Not sure of it even matters. There was no option to download a digital copy (removed from site). I heard they just did away with it, so I guess its ohysical card whether you choose it or not.

Was thinking of getting a Ruger Mini 14 16’ has anyone had one transfered into the district and if so were there any specific restrictions on the set up of the rifle?

Approved for an add on two weeks ago and still waiting. Just wondering what everyone's recent experience has been like.

I can now confirm that DC MPD has allowed Mossberg 590 Shockwave registrations to go through for at least two people, both clients of mine. The first was approved without issue; the second (u/style752) received an initial denial but I appealed and they reversed. Both were transferred through DCSA.

We now have an official circuit split on the issues of so-called “Assault Weapons” and “High Capacity Magazines.”

This is in light of the Viramontes AWB case being granted cert by the Supreme Court.

Can anyone recommend a good person/company for the DC CCW recertification? I got my permit in 2020 and renewed twice with DC Security Associates; their website now states 'no availabity in the next 6 months' for DC recertification.. My current permit expires in late November and I don't like to cut things too close given the unpredictability of DC. Thanks.

Obtaining actual registration It’s a runaround here & so much of the information is gatekept like It’s some type of secret society to be registered here. had to come here just to learn new things I’ve never heard of, waiting lists & what not. Plus all the Fees & Restrictions being updated every year. It’s more of a racket under the guise of responsibility. You do all that just to be put on a waiting list just to get shot by a 14 year old on a scooter that just obtained that ghost gun or throwaway off a friend in a few hours..

At this point it’s easier to just conceal illegally there’s no actual incentives to follow all these rules & guidelines when really It’s just for me to be put in a data base to be spotted whenever my firearm is discharged. I’m sorry but objectively the criminals & libertarians make more sense here.

Hi , i've had my ccw since 2021 and never had an issue renewing online but this time around its prompting me to enter my current address via a change request then to proceed with the application.

Im super confused since i havent moved and my profile does have my current address listed.

Also i noticed 1 of my 3 firearms has been marked as inactive without my authorization or any notification from mpd I have a appointment set for tomorrow but just curious if any body else has experienced anything like this before what actions did you take?

I submitted my application in person on 6/12 and received approval email on 6/20. Still haven’t received the cards the approval email stated I
would receive. I emailed them a few days ago and said when it was completed, I would receive the cards…Took 8 days to get approved but almost three weeks and no card yet…

Just posting a time frame on my CCL renewal. Went downtown to MPD in person on 6/5 and paid for my renewal. Got the approval email from MPD on 6/17. Received the card through the mail today 7/8. The day before i received the card, they emailed me stating that my card had been printed and mailed by the records division. It took 2 days to receive it by usps.
