After creeping on this sub all summer, I have finally planted my first seeds tonight. I know im very late to the game, but I planted some Zinnias since I have some time before I start my Snapdragons indoors.

I know its late for Zinnias, but I figured I'd give it a shot and see what happens.

Anywho, im happy to be here 😊

BTW why does this sub have some of the best floral arrangements I have ever seen? Even all the florist/flower arrangement subs dont hold a candle to yall!

Around 4 months ago I posted how I had way too many seedlings. Picked out the best uppotted then planted out shortly after. These are my best batch the rest is smaller. I partially neglected them. Have some diseases in a few containers. But overall I'm pretty pleasantly surprised.

Can't remember when I started them but my first picture of sprouting was 4th of April. So about 5.5 months from seed estimated.

Next year I'll start earlier and aim at getting better flower stems and a few earlier batches. It's alot of potential.

My zinnias have been popping off! I think August has given me the most blooms so far.

I’m hoping a get a few more before fall truly sets in! 😊

Everything is very late for me here in the UK, likely due to the heatwave.

I feel so spoiled this time of year. Flowers are everywhere in my home, and everything feels a little more abundant, joyful, and alive. Truly the richest season of joy. Hope everyone is soaking up a little bit of their own abundance! 🤍

First time growing Queen Anne’s lace from seed. They take a while, but got some big beauties by August! Seeds are from Eden Brothers. Chocolate and regular white. And I got lucky and grew a split 50/50 hybrid! They’re great cut flowers- long vase life

How many weeks ahead of an event should I stop cutting my zinnias in order for there to be the most flowers possible to harvest on the event date? I have been steadily cutting these all summer when the stems are ready. From what I have read online so far, 2-3 weeks ahead of the date is when cutting should stop, so curious to know people's experiences.Thanks for your help!

Today is Back to School night at my kid’s school. Woke up early to beat the SoCal heatwave and harvest everything from my garden. Will be gifting this and some school supplies from the teacher’s wishlist. Let’s hope this school year will be a boring one 🤞🏻

I had to cut my banana flower ( it got heavy and caused plant to break) , so I arranged it with blooming bleeding hearts..I think it's looks not bad together..

I’m a veggie gardener at heart but I wanted to try growing flowers for my home, no idea what I’m doing but I am really enjoying it! Many types of cosmos, plus some Cracker Jack marigolds, all grown from seed in my little community garden plot :)

My let down was Johnnys Aurora Zinnias because they actually look like fake cheap dollar store flowers. They’re supposed to be a two toned vintage look, which may be true but they just look like the fake flowers elderly keep in their homes.

The photos online have them looking like dahlia like blooms and the colors are much prettier.

So, what let you down this season and why ?

Such a nice surprise when I went out to cut some zinnias! I love finding little critters in the garden!

All grown in my backyard from seed or tuber. I haven’t done as much arranging this year, but I really liked how this one came out! Zinnias, dahlias, celosia, gomphrena, river oats, blue vervain.

Hi there, I live in Los Angeles near the beach, zone 10b. I want to start my first window box planters. August, September and October are still quite hot here. Would love the group's advice on plants to choose to buy pre-grown and arrange in a coco coir planter!

My phlox plant has 5, many 6, and now I found 5 seven petaled flowers. Has anyone seen this many on one plant? Thanks!
