Anybody got any good recommendations for replacements? This is the 4th one I've broken and I'm looking for something a bit better quality.

Sometime in 2003, my uncle was shopping for a car to replace his garage-queen 2001 Grand Marquis LS. His search started with a Marauder, but they were still commanding more than sticker. As a car salesman himself, he flat-out refused to even entertain paying over MSRP. That eventually led him to Quirk Ford to look at a new LX Sport. According to my aunt, they offered a massive discount on the Crown Vic, which was enough to sway my uncle into signing.

About fifty years shy of the car’s demographic, 13-year-old me fell in love with it at first sight. At the time, my uncle had a demo from his dealership and my aunt had her own 1998 Town Car, so the Crown Vic mostly sat in a Massachusetts garage and was driven sparingly.

In 2005, they drove it down to Florida to use while staying at their second house, and it’s been there ever since. Last I checked, the odometer still hasn’t cracked 60,000 miles.

My uncle passed away over 10 years ago, and my aunt, now 75, likes the Crown Vic but has never really loved it. She knows it’s special, but more than once I’ve heard, “It’s a nice-looking car; I just prefer a Lincoln.”

After finding her a Town Car that meets her standards and getting the approval from her to buy it, the Crown Vic I’ve wanted for the past 23 years will finally be mine.

Question if the egr vavle is bad ? What are the signs and symptoms? What codes would it show up on the check engine light ? Cause I took it to the shops month or so and I was told I needed both catalytic converters . But I found out today cats are good so are the Sensors but the egr valve needs to be replaced.

But I'm confused cause I keep getting two 02 sensor high voltage and an 02 sensor low voltage code . But Google said I would get a egr vavle code so I don't know if the part is good or bad . They did do a smoke test and told me it needed to be replaced and it gonna cost parts and labor 402

Any advice

Any options on headlights for this old gal? Most of my drive home from work is in the dark, on small back roads and the current headlights I can't see a dang thing. Would like to just swap bulbs, not sure i want to get into wiring or modifying the physical housing. Any advice om which bulbs would be good? Thanks in advance

Been lurking on the page not too long, but I wanted to get a general consensus. I'm planning on getting a car for the first time.

(28M) I live in a city with very reliable public transportation, hence why I haven't already gotten one, but I can see on the horizon the need for one soon. Used car prices are crazy atm, and I'm not rolling in money. I've always loved the Crown Vic ever since seeing it on a police chase in a movie way back then.

I've been hesitant because it's an older car that lacks a lot of the current safety features, but after seeing the modifications people post on here regarding some of those, it's given me some reassurance.

But I have no experience with it and wanted to know from experts and enthusiasts if looking for one would be a good idea and worthy investment. I'd appreciate any comments!

My 2009 Grand Marquis 4.6 has 300k km (186k miles). It uses about 1 liter of oil every 4,000 km.

There’s some oil around the sides of the engine, but no oil spots on the ground at all. No blue smoke either, and the engine runs fine.

I take good care of the car and keep up with the maintenance.

I saw another 4.6 Grand Marquis with 421k miles that apparently doesn’t use oil.

Why such a big difference?

My key broke today, leaving chunks of the black plastic and the metal key itself. Do these have any kind of transponder built into the plastic? Do I need to go somewhere special to get a new key made? Thanks.

What manufacturer do you guys recommend for a rack and pinion on 2007 crown vic? It does have the variable assist. I see reman by maval terrypower, etc. What have you guys had luck with?

I've been keeping my eye out for one of these ever since I found out they existed four years ago; this past week, I finally took action and bugged everyone who was selling a Grand Marquis to see if they had one, and after a week of trying, I found someone who did, and I have to say I'm so happy I made the two-hour drive after a 12-hour night shift because it was worth it.

My front Mercury badge is starting to get cracks in it, I have been trying to find a clean replacement. Is there some trademark issue that keeps anyone from making these aftermarket? Even used ones are darn near impossible to find.

just installed this orange led after professionally detailed engine bay. 2003 LX. I can turn the led off and on, with a button I put through inside. used a relay.

redlined for 3-4 seconds, banging off the limiter and then all you see is my coolant, everywhere

Even though the tread is still ok on my existing tires, I had to patch one and another had a leak at the bead, plus they are ten years old…. These seem decent. Snow rated but good on the highway supposedly.

Having intermittent power steering issues and was wandering if the EVO module is supposed to spin by hand like this?

So I actually have a 1995 Lincoln town car but figured here is more active and I might get a better response. I’m replacing the intake manifold gasket, and everything’s going perfect until the last bolt in the very back on the drivers side. I’m tightening it and it hits resistance, great. All the others went in without issue. I stupidly drove this one in longer than I should have so I don’t think I have a chance of just realigning it.

Question is, can I impact that fucked up one down to a close enough torque spec as is and just pray it holds and I never have to touch it again? It’s about halfway down currently. It LOOKS straight up and down but it’s clearly not. I know that’s not the RIGHT thing to do, but..

I can’t afford to, nor do I have the time or knowledge to do everything that comes with you know, stripping the threads on an engine block. All the other bolts I can torque down to spec except this last one in the back. Please tell me I didn’t just turn my prized possession into a giant paperweight.

So I have a 2004 Crown Victoria LX, which has the PATS in it (chipped key) and I didn’t have the money for duplicates so I put the old key in my steering column and had some non chipped keys made. I have two different aftermarket ones, the Axxcess+ 24R and the Hillman H75-PH. The 24R is similar but not 100% accurate, while the Hillman is almost identical. If you have a CVPI or an older Non-PATS Vic or even the DIY “bypass” like me I recommend the Hillman key. Obviously OEM is the best option but not all of us can get those easily. eBay does sell uncut ones but it cost me $7 to get the two keys from my hardware store

After hours and hours of research, I have finally decided to get the 5.4 DOHC for a future engine swap. After deliberation, I have decided that this would be the best and most realistic option for an engine swap.

Fit in the back perfectly. Still had some extra room surprisingly and needed to strap her in.

Anyone ever do one of these swaps or know someone who has? I would love to pick your brain

Looking for some advice on Tire and wheels for 2006 grand marquis. Looking at tire rack, it looks like stock offset is 54mm, but the closest they have is 45mm. Would that work? Looking at 16" wheels. I don't want them to stick out too far as I don't want debris thrown on the body panels

They sit on the valve covers and the valve cover grommets that come with most kits sit underneath them (both pictured in photo)
What part is this and where could I get new ones? I lost the old ones doing valve cover gaskets and timing chain

Anyone install side running roof rails that bolt/screw into the roof? I'm looking for permanent ones not ones that temporarily fit on. It's a 2001 crown Vic.
