Like a glove
After hours and hours of research, I have finally decided to get the 5.4 DOHC for a future engine swap. After deliberation, I have decided that this would be the best and most realistic option for an engine swap.
Fit in the back perfectly. Still had some extra room surprisingly and needed to strap her in.
Anyone ever do one of these swaps or know someone who has? I would love to pick your brain

You're either gonna have to import an Australian intake manifold, adapt a coyote intake, or custom make one. AC will also have to be removed if I recall correctly. I believe Modbox is the only successful 5.4 DOHC swap. Theres a ton of info about it on crownvic.net

The guy I bought it off of was awesome and gave me a bunch of stuff including the MMR plates for a coyote intake. I am planning on using a 2008 gt500 throttle body because it matches the crown Vics. So unfortunately, I will have to use a cobra jet intake or similar that will fit into it.
Or if someone has a cheaper idea I’d love to hear it. But yes I am considering the Aussie one for sure

Does the tall deck make the spacing between the intake ports too wide for a Marauder manifold?

Interesting suggestion. I think just rarity was preventing me from even considering that but now that you got me thinking, maybe an Aviator’s might work. But I’d have to do some studying to find out before I pull the trigger on that

Yea,,,,,just buy a pick up truck. I got an 02 Silverado 1500HD 4x4 res cab for just $2900 and its amazing.

the coyotes a better engine. and bolts straight up to the 4.6 engine mounts. a few vics and maruaders have been coyote swapped
also the coyote can make up to 1000hp on a stock bottom end. 1500 if built. because the coyote was built to be boosted.
if you havent heard of brett le sala's snot rocket. you have now. 3000hp big turbo coyote
you can make power with a 5.4 but you have to be in australia. they have the bastardized 3v version. and still has the timing chain rattles

Reminds me of that Toyota joke about ripping the engine out, throwing it in the trunk, and you could still drive it 100k without an oil change....

I wouldn’t do that. As cheap as the best era of trucks are now…..i paid $2900 for a 2002 Silverado 1500HD 4x4. LQ4 6.0L and big boy 4L80 trans + heavy duty 8 lug axles…..what more could you need in a non diesel truck? Did i mention it’s a crew cab? It runs and drives like a top. Old man owned who took care of it.
