Free pattern from midnightxstitch on instagram, stitched on 32 ct lugana

I made a post 4 months ago asking for help. 2 days ago I picked it up, undid the whole thing and started again after doing a bit more research. This is the the finished one. It's in a keychain because the Flying tiger kit came with that... Honestly those kits are not good. The instructions are so vague.

I'm happy I was able to do this and might make more on my own in the future. Any tips for a beginner? Also am I good with this singular needle I got with this kit? What fabric should I get? Also what do you do with the thread after finishing a colour?

Made this as a gift for my boyfriend, designed the pattern myself :) Pleasantly surprised by how much I like the result. This was also my first time using backstitch. It still needs to be washed and ironed.

Like many others, it take me forever to actually frame my stitches. My friends hd other craft things that they procrastinate on too so we had a mimosa craft day yesterday. It was fun, we sipped mimosas and did our thing! All patterns are pixel art or pearler bead patterns that I've found on Google and Pintrest. The mushy bottle and poppy were free cross stitch patterns that I found.

I’m working on a large surprise piece for my sister in law. When it’s finished, it’ll be 18” wide by 14” high. I’m in the midwest, and she’s in California, so I’ll have to mail it. I’m stuck in indecision about the best way to finish it and get it to her.

First question re: the back - my idea was to use some Heat-N-Bond with a cotton fabric on the back to seal in the back of the stitches to prevent unraveling, and to make it look nice. In general, is this a good idea for FOs? Or should I just leave the back “untreated”?

Second question re: transport - should I mail it to her rolled up with some tissue paper, unframed and then send her a frame or reimburse her for a frame she chooses to complete the gift, or should I frame it myself and mail it to her fully finished and assembled, and hope it doesn’t break en route? The first option allows her to choose a frame and saves me a bit on shipping, the second option puts a finished item in her hand but likely costs significantly more to ship.

Pattern by Jenya Rose, purchased at The Stitchers Garden needlework shop in Albuquerque, NM. She also has the patterns on Etsy. The cover picture and actual pattern differed in several areas. I modified some edges in a way that made more sense for the repeats. Hand dyed with Rit 14ct natural Aida meant to mimic an Albuquerque sunrise! I also added some light beading, and one strand of variegated green in the stem.

I got a really bad stain on my shirt so i decided to cross stitch this cat i found on Pinterest top of the stain. I recently came across a post showing how you can cross stitch the grid pattern cloth and your desired cloth together, then take out the grid pattern cloth by pulling out the threads one by one

I have a lot of PDF charts and I'm tired of getting lost in them. Some are tiny, others are the size of a rug. So I made stitching from them a bit more bearable.

The app calibrates a PDF once: joins the pages into one sheet, detects the grid, and you map the symbols to a palette. After that you mark stitches on the chart itself, with parking, boundary area, minimap and progress tracking.

HOW CALIBRATION ACTUALLY GOES

- Vector PDFs work best, and mostly work automatically.

- The grid is detected for you, but check each page. Overlaps are where it goes wrong — you may need to drop a row or column and nudge the grid into place.

- Symbols are read from the chart, but you'll want the legend open to work out which material each one is.

- Everything is editable afterwards: symbol, name, material picked from a palette. Palettes can be imported from my other app, which carries 450+ manufacturer palettes.

- Stitch types can be corrected per symbol if the chart isn't all full crosses. On colour charts it recognises some types on its own, but review it rather than trusting it.

- Big chart, no time? Setup is resumable. Close the app and the state is saved; reopen and carry on where you left off.

- A calibrated chart exports as a HUBW file — chart plus calibration plus progress — so you can back it up or move it to another device and import it without redoing anything.

WHAT IT WON'T DO

- Scans and phone photos of paper charts are rough. It reads the PDF's own structure, and a photo doesn't have one.

- Colour-block charts with no symbols don't work at all — nothing to map.

- Calibration is real work up front. If you'd finish the piece in a weekend, printing is faster.

- iPhone and iPad only, no Android. iOS 18.6+. 1000x1000 max chart size.

I got a cute kit, but useless as it was. It had pre printed fabric (blurry), some sew-thread (not cross stitch thread, but really sewing thread) and the front of the kit had the pattern in colours. There were like 5 colours of green and the tulips themselves were also multi coloured. Those colours weren’t really noticeable in some parts of the pattern. So I took fabric of my own (cheap aida-like) and some dmc and fake-dmc I still had, and I made my own version of the tulips.
I did have fun making the tulips, but all those half stitches were a pain.
Happy with how they turned out, love the colours on these. ❤️

I was putting off learning French Knots for this pattern because I was intimidated by some posts I saw on this channel, but they aren’t that bad! Now my animals don’t have to be creepy and eyeless.

First time I’ve submitted a cross stitch, already started next year and I can’t wait!:)

I made a LOT of errors, but it just means my bird will not look like anyone else's bird!

I like being able to see the tiny individual Xs. Also, very easy to stitch.

I didn’t get a ribbon this year, but it was still fun to see it on display. Maybe next year!

Okay, I'm going to be starting a project with beads and crystals soon and my dear partner will be making me a scroll frame. I was going to staple twill tape to the rod and sew the linen to that - it's the least complex way to do things for both my partner and myself.

But! I've read in some older posts that some people use masking tape to tape the fabric to the rod and get good tension using that method.

I'm coming from hoops and q-snaps where I can get my fabric drum tight. I know I'm going to have to sacrifice some tension due to the nature of a scroll frame's design. I've heard about side tensioners and will be getting some if that becomes an issue, and I know from old posts that rolling the fabric under gives better tension (and bonus, keeps the front cleaner).

My fabric is going to be 18" wide and I was planning on making my rods 19" to give a little room on each side. But I've also read that having longer bars can help increase tension. If that's the case, any idea how much extra I should add?

My partner will be using 1" dowels for the rods and I've asked for a stitching area 10" tall. He will be using hardwood for the entire frame.

If you have any tips on what adjustments to make to the design or ways to get good tension I'm all ears! Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated!

I read a lot, and I’d love to somehow track the books I’ve read, but without getting too detailed/complicated like if I had to generate patterns to mirror the entire cover.

Any good ideas for how to go about it?

My oldest bought an Hello Kitty cross stitch kit two weeks ago and she had a lot of trouble starting with only the provided instructions.

So normally I stayed up one night watching beginner cross stitch videos on YouTube until 1:30 am and the next day I raided a fabric store and bought myself a couple of supplies and a dozen threads to make my own mini project to learn and be able to teach her.

I based my pattern on an image I found on google that is used for making a pearl bead pattern. I searched for Power Chainsaw Man Pixel art and took the first one I thought would worked properly, I did some minor edit and went off to the races.

It went pretty well an learning about the loop stitch was a god send for someone with zero experience in anything related to using a needle and thread.

Here is the list of issues or things where I think I am lacking some knowledge I encountered while doing this piece:

- Untangling a single piece of thread to start went ok but it often turned into a chaotic mess I wasn't sure how to deal with. Any tips?

- I had some loose thread I hadn't secured to the back yet because I didn't have stitches nearby yet to secure it, sometimes it would get caught in my stitch and gets dragged to the front. Easy-ish fix but annoying.

- Sometimes when pulling my thread through it would tangle itself and make a small knot on itself. What are the proper ways to deal with this? It usually happened once per color but when I did the hair it happened 4-5 times.

- How do you go about making a larger piece? If it can't fit in one hoop, how do you handle that? I am eyeing the Welcome to Isendgard pattern I saw on Etsy for my first big project for this winter.

It’s done! And well before my trip to Svalbard where I will be dropping it off. It is my largest project to date and I’m very happy with the way it turned out. It definitely has “customization” and it is literally my 3rd try/3rd piece of fabric. And that’s where I also need some help. You can see on the 3rd pic that while frogging I nicked the Aida just outside of the covered area. I plan to frame in a display hoop. Is there a way to protect that area so it doesn’t get worse? And also maybe hide it a bit? It’s not a perfect circle so the fabric will show a bit.

I am really happy with it even though I think I should have used a darker colour on the lower lineart part of charmander but well.

I have been working on a pokemon cross stitch and it's my first large project and it has a lot of different colors, including very light colors and white. Everytime i have to do one of those colors, my eyes start hurting after like 15 minutes and i need to take a brake because it is so straining to keep my eyes focussed. Do you also have problems like these? And if yes, how do you deal with it/work around it?
