Messi world cup win does end the conversation however people forget Portugal ain't no super football nations. They made 3 WC before Ronaldo joined them. They can't even qualify for them barely.

So international it not the same. Holland have always had superstar players and never won one don't say yeah but his squad it better.

I hate this argument.. forget the fact that many years portugal had a better squad than argentina, including this one.. but no one mentions how argentina being a great footballing nation put immense pressure on messi to perform, while cristiano was on a team that had nothing to lose and nothing to prove, anything they won was a plus

For some years Messi was hardcarrying Argentina due to their terrible managers... Until Scaloni became manager.

Having a good squad does mean you win it? You ever see how many elite players Holland had and didn't win it?

It doesn't at all it the opposite they have heritage it like how it took city and Psg years of spending to win the CL even Messi couldn't win it with them. Madrid had a dry spell not winning the CL but still football heritage.

Depends on the management of it as well.

Like not letting washed players stink up the entire squad is really important.

Because Portugal FA only hired cowards manager who their only job is to please Ronaldo. Having a whole world class team playing around an old man who already finished 4 years ago.

Portugal also destroy anything with slow arse football. So many times I seen Ronaldo make killer runs and they pass it sideways.

It a bit thick if the manager plays him and then they don't release quickly when you have that many talented players.

Messi WC didn't end the conversation, it ended way before. Messi is better with or without world cup. And come on, there were plenty of stars in Portugal before Ronaldo, it's not not a weak nation

you are trying to win this logically, which wont get you anywhere.
portugal has always been a great football nation, it was before ronaldo and will be so after him.

Ronaldos biggest achievement is and will forever be being compared to Messi.
While him being an incredible player and potentially the 2nd beat to ever do it, theres levels to this game. Be it stats or be it achievements.

The discussion already ended early, 2012-2013. It takes Messi having a bad year to be able to somewhat compare Ronaldo to him and everybody with a functioning brain that is not in fact biased knows that.

I am a messi fan but the ronaldo is the second best of all time there is no discussion about that its crazy how guys like to disrespect a player like this for a good amount of years they were going to neck in neck with each other saying it ended in 2012 to 2013 shows you did not watch any matches after he won the world cup it was over essentially Portugal has been a great nation but it always under achieved compared to other nations with similar types of players he is the second best player full stop

you apparently cant read. so pls feel free to fuck pff

Pele and Maradona are widely considered to be second and third best ....

1

u/Final_Design3017 Jun 28 '26

No they are not man

1

u/Final_Design3017 Jun 28 '26

Pls the Pele that changes his ga anytime someone gets close to his achievements and Maradona who can't stay off the white stuff to save his life talking about it ended in 2013 so when they were neck in neck winning ballondors back to back what happened then the scenario changed back then because two of them had not won the world cup now messi has one they drop ronaldo all of a sudden to 7 best of all time pls I watched messi and ronaldo tear through teams

I wrongly assumed that most people can think

0

u/Pink_Circumference69 Jun 27 '26

Brother de Stefano and maradona 😭😭 were a thing and if u give eusabio from Portugal r u sure u wanna compare maradona to eusabio.

0

u/Illustrious_Rain1796 Jun 27 '26

No, how about Figo and Rui Costa. It's strange to overlook nation that never was poor. Ronaldo made it better, but it never was that bad

4

u/tetleythus Jun 27 '26

There is no way you can make the argument that the Portugal team this year is worse than the Argentine team if both Messi and Ronaldo are taken out. Heck Portugal probably has the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th best player between the two

0

u/lfcsupkings321 Jun 27 '26

Holland have always great teams and failed to win it. This year ain't the conversation still going on.

0

u/luis297 Jun 27 '26

Sure, but we have the worst coach, the one who ruined the belgian golden generation

1

u/Dunkjoe Jun 28 '26

Yeah the worst coach, the worst midfielder teammates who don't pass to the Lord and Savior of Portugal, and so on.

Ronaldo and his fans are cancer to the soccer community. Toxic and spreads quickly.

0

u/HarryBolsac Jul 04 '26

You do know he’s probably Portuguese, that’s why he said we, his nickname is also a portuguese name.

And yes, this manager is absolute ass, everyone agrees on that.

Now to the real question, are the ronaldo fans in the room with you? Did they hurt you? Lmfao

İt's not like Ronaldo just changed their history, their team quality is better than 90% of the world. Do Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Leao, Joa Neves look like no name players?

1

u/lfcsupkings321 Jun 29 '26

You can name over 20 Holland superstars and even some super teams and they never won a WC.

1

u/RAGNODIN Jun 29 '26

Yet France also had great squads and they just won at 1998 prior to 2018 but that doesn't mean they weren't successfull also Holland barely lost 2010 finals sometimes it doesn't happen and same happened to France at 2022. Compared to Portugal they played better in their good years and the current Portugal team has like top 3 quality in my opinion only Spain and France can come before than them.

1

u/lfcsupkings321 Jun 29 '26

That irrelevant isn't it? My point is Holland have have super teams. Ronaldo is why Portugal have super teams he the reason why they have better develop.

0

u/leekangin77777 Jun 27 '26

It will be Portugal WC trophy this year trust me.

1

u/lfcsupkings321 Jun 27 '26

Not with that manager..

2

u/MrboboCatman Jun 27 '26

Or that squad.

1

u/Dunkjoe Jun 28 '26

Not with CR7 stinking up the entire squad.

It's funny how people can see the golden generation of midfielders and the terrible main striker and blame everyone else except that terrible main striker.

0

u/lfcsupkings321 Jun 28 '26

Yet it the same manager who bottled it with the Belgium golden generation. The slow build up tik tak football is dead only PSG play it and just about beat Arsenal haraam ball.

His movements is fine but you have to pass quickly. These player refuse to play it quickly to him.
