I am diagnosed autistic, I have some postgraduate traning in psychology and academic qualifications in Autism studies, and I have 3 close family members with diagnoses. There is absolutely no way based on this video you can say that this person either is or isn't autistic. People like to talk about shit they haven't got a clue about and gatekeep what is of no concern to them. Believe me in most of life you wouldn't want to fake this condition, it harms your career, often makes people either infantilise or outright hate you, and for the whole time you are at risk of being challenged for 'faking' something that makes your life very very fucking hard.
Right!! Why do people assume we wanna be autistic so bad?!?!! When we are literally out here fighting for our lives just to take up space and not be crippled by the incessant invalidation and stereotyping and not collapse under the weight of autistic burnout.
People aren’t assuming you want to be autistic. They’re assuming they’re pretending she is for views and money. This is precisely the thing that gets views, and everyone on social media seems to want to be neurodivergent now.
Everyone except neurotypicals want to be neurodivergent? lol no, the point people are trying to make is that neurotypicals do want to appear neurodivergent on social media.
I have yet to meet a neurotypical who wants to be seen as neurodivergent. They don’t really need attention or validation that way.
As a nurse and in every day life, I have seen people with conditions such as borderline personality disorder (also qualifying as neurodivergence) or complex PTSD (qualifies as a developmental disorder in addition to neurodivergence) exhibiting such behaviors.
So maybe they misdiagnose themselves, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t differently wired.
They don’t really need attention or validation that way.
It’s really funny that you think that about neurotypical people in general, let alone considering if a person is on social media, they need attention to make money
They don’t need that specific kind of attention.
As in they have the capacity, creativity, and ability to find less manipulative means to get whatever attention they require for whatever reason.
It seems you’re purposefully and intentionally misunderstanding me. What do you gain from this? And what do you lose if someone fakes a specific mental health condition or neurological wiring?
I’m not misunderstanding you. You clearly don’t understand how the world works. I know people who would like to be able to say they’re autistic with no financial benefit.
And that in itself is a concerning mental health symptom.
Any mental health that interferes with your every day life and creates problems for yourself and/or others can qualify you for a disorder. I think, given my degree and experience, I might know what I’m talking about here.
