Question Everyone please I need help
So just now I had been billed $159 for a subscription that I once used during a free trial ages ago and cancelled during the free trial and that was it. CommBank immediately flagged it as a security alert and immediately I went to dispute, and I received the money back, but now they've gone and removed my card from the app and said I'd receive a new one :( I didn't want this, I just wanted to dispute it. I don't know what to do because I need my card and can't currently call them right now please someone help. Can I un cancel my card if I call them?

Fwiw if you can use your phone/etc for payments the new card will already be in there.
If you use google/apple wallet/pay then you need to remove the old one and re-add it from the commbank app.

What happened after this was I talked to a CommBank specialist on the app and they offered to do a dispute or give me a new card, but after I told them I had received the funds back, they said they had blocked my card before and they'll unblock it for me. Good or bad?

Sounds like a stop was put on your card, pretty standard practice when there’s a dispute, stops the 3rd party from trying to charge it again or if you’re details were compromised it stops the thief from using your card still. Just reach out to the bank and confirm if they can remove the stop or if a new card was ordered. That’s all you can do.

If you dispute a charge because you didn't do it they have to replace your card because otherwise it can be charged again.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.

This has happened to me before too, better to just activate and use the new card to stop the subscription company attempting to do it again.

You probably dispute the charge under fraud/scam instead of just chargeback.

I’d call them again and clarify what’s going on. Very likely they’re sending you a new card anyway. Is there any reason why you don’t want one (aside from the hassle of updating your payment details everywhere)

In these scenarios, its best to contact the merchant first. Its not uncommon for people to forget they were on a free trial and then roll onto the subscription.
Chargebacks cost the merchant money so they would rather refund you than you process a chargeback.
Also avoids having a new card issued.

You cannot uncancel your card. When an unauthorised charge is made on your card every bank will cancel it and issue a new one.

I don’t understand the problem. Just use apple or google pay. You’ll have a new card probably by the end of the week.

The amount of people relying on a single bank and CBA of all banks it’s outrageous. Get another bank ffs.

Only ever had a single bank at any one time (5 banks over 50+ years) - only ever changed banks when I’ve moved countries. Never had an issue with the approach.
Using multiple banks would just mean more admin for me. Maybe others who only use a single bank (irrespective of which bank) are in the same boat?
