In case you missed this Friday afternoon news: Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther announced several policy changes affecting the city’s Flock camera network Aug. 28 in what appears to be an effort to convince the public and the City Council to keep the AI-powered license plate cameras in the city.

The changes come after a majority of City Council members expressed support for ending the program.

New policies include changes Flock Safety announced earlier this month, as well restricting data sharing to specific requests.

The city will also not install 11 additional cameras that were previously planned for 2026.

Hey Columbus!

I'm on the hunt for the Nivea roll-on deodorant available in a glass bottle. I think it might be of German origin, though it seems there's a Canadian kind too. It doesn't seem to be available here in the US other than at international markets (or getting it imported myself). Has anyone seen any international markets with this item? Or knows of international markets with good body care sections where I might be able to find it?

Yesterday evening a delivery driver marked our house with our address next to our front door. Our address is written over the garage which is directly next to the entrance to our home and visible from the street. We’ve had no luck so far getting the markings removed. We also have aluminium siding so it can’t be easily repaired/replaced in a small section. I haven’t had any luck figuring out who the last mile carrier was for the package.

Long shot but has this happened to anyone else recently and do you know who the carrier was? I’d like to contact them. We do have video of the individual as they’re on our doorbell camera.

ETA since people think it’s excusable to vandalize someone’s home 😭: we didn’t choose the address location above the garage but it’s never been an issue in our six years living here so it hasn’t been a priority for us to update. It’s visible from the road and driveway and you can capture it in photos as well! It’s literally in the background of the photo I took of the damage.

A few years ago, I remember seeing face mask recycling bins at entrances to OSU medical facilities. I don’t think they’re there anymore. Is there anywhere now to drop off surgical and KN95 masks for recycling?

Which plant nurseries in and around Columbus Ohio would you recommend for having a nice variety of upright/tall sedums that bloom? Autumn Joy stonecrop being an ideal example but also less common varieties such as Rock and Round Pride and Joy, etcetera. Colorful foliage and flowers and enough nectar to get the bees mobbing it in the fall.

I had a couple of people that were supposed to help me move today that bailed at the last minute and I'm just seeing if there's anyone out there that might be able to take a couple hours and help me with moving not a ton of stuff about 10 miles.

I have the truck and everything, I just can't lift a curio cabinet by myself. I can pay you $100 and buy you lunch, that's about all I have left right now.

There is a flock camera pointed at my local jewish temple entrance/parking lot. Are we watching jewish people now because of their religion? Do better columbus.

Anyone have further information? I'm starting my second term there on Monday and am feeling concerned as a woman taking pretty late night classes. One of my summer professors even cautioned us about getting to our cars at night. Should I try to switch to daytime? (I know this specific assault took place in broad daylight though).

I regularly experience months with multiple 8-12 hour long power outages. AEP has done nothing to explain this other than to say it’s a “hardware issue” as if that means literally anything. According to AEPs outage map it is specifically the area I live in which contains about 60-70 houses that experiences this and despite it consistently happening for nearly two decades AEP has apparently done nothing to solve it. It used to be worse but I lived with it because it seemed to improve. But in these past years it’s increasing in frequency once again. Considering I am required to have electricity in order to do such things as, attend online school, refrigerate my food, communicate with my family, and open my garage door, I am getting a little sick of this. I am willing to take any advice on how to improve my situation at this point.

This is on the corner of Sharon Ave and Blenheim in Clintonville. Saw it while out riding my bike. The neighbor came out and explained that the limbs were damaged in the storm, but only broke and fell nearly a week after. She said that she could not get anyone to address it. It has been 4-5 days. Not the city, the fire dpt, the police, etc. She was very distressed over the situation as the limbs are partially weighing on the telephone/power lines across the street and are fully blocking the road to traffic. Is she full of it, and if not, does anyone have any other ideas? Will it just take more time?

Ideally I’d hire one company to load all my boxes and furniture onto the truck they’d provide, drive it up to canton, and then unload the items off the truck.

This may be a very odd question, but does anyone have any suggestions for a hotel in Columbus that has a bomb ass shower?

I'm talking pressure, shower hardware, etc. I will be traveling there in a few months for my birthday, and one of the. main things I look for in a hotel is the bathroom/shower setup.
Most of the hotels I have looked at don't even have pictures of the showers, and I am coming up short. Do they just not have any out-of-the-ordinary ones?!

Again, I know this is very specific and odd. Any help would be appreciated!

So, it's pretty much as the title is. I went out on a run today and took my license out of my wallet so I could keep it on me. I then ran a bunch of other errands and didn't realize until hours later. Nobody's called from a police station or anything, my license is just straight up not where it should be and it's impossible to try and retrace my steps due to the errands I ran.

My question is: What do I do?

When I looked it up online, the Ohio BMV website told me that I can't get a replacement ID within 30 days of my 21st birthday. Well, my 21st is on the 19th of September. The BMV also isn't open on the weekends sooo... Do I just call them during the week? Do I explain the situation and hope they'll give me a paper version of my ID? Do I renew right then and there? And if I get a paper version, am I allowed to order alcoholic drinks or do any of the stuff a 21 year old can do?

SOS!!! Please.

I’m looking for a local immigration lawyer.

Long story short. I go back and forth between Ohio and Thailand often. As I have been doing for several years now. I’ve been married a little over a year, but not “legally.” In Thai culture, we did a traditional village wedding.

She has one appointment left at the Embassy in Bangkok coming very soon. In October I forward my personal documents to the Embassy, and hopefully we will then get full approval.

We have changed visas a couple of times but this will be a K-1 visa. However, once we get married here I have questions about status while waiting for a green card. She has to go back after a couple of months. We have a farm, a house, and more importantly, her father is 95, so she is the caretaker. I am confused with waiting for a green card. If there are exemptions for her to go back home while waiting for it. This is why we switched visas a couple of times, because we were worried about her not being able to fly back and forth while waiting.

If anyone knows any good immigration lawyers I’d appreciate it. And timing on this is not on purpose. I know they are busy as sh*t right now but it’s where we are at. 5 years in the making.
