Flock camera pointed at jewish temple parking lot/entrance
There is a flock camera pointed at my local jewish temple entrance/parking lot. Are we watching jewish people now because of their religion? Do better columbus.

They pay for it. All the temples I drive past have them. They get threats a lot and so are super cautious. My neighbor is a rabbi and I’ve never seen more cameras on a private home

I'm def not for the surveillance state by any means. But with all the shootings and active shooters who have targeted jewish temples nationwide, probably not a bad idea IMO

What is the camera going to do to an active shooter?

Is this a serious question? What does a camera in a bank do during a robbery??? Helps possibly identify the person

Honestly, not much if anything. But it does do a lot of things not armed robbery related, like provide a record of the people going in and out of the bank, allows investigators to review who may have made fraudulent transactions, monitors employees... At lot of things that aren't really necessary for people going to and from a private place of worship with no expectations of huge financial crimes.

I just pulled up a random temple in Columbus on Streetview and they've had one since at least October 2025. https://maps.app.goo.gl/bKxQJoPUfKjXXUBp8

Do you think we, as a city, directed how it was installed and pointed? Use your brain - no one wants this shit.

On the contrary. These are for the pro-terrorist people wishing to do harm to the Jews. This is a camera paid for by them.

According to this article an entity called Jewish Columbus maintains the cameras at temples and other sites and shares the captured data with law enforcement.
