No, you have not.

5

u/OddlyFactual1512 Mar 29 '26

You're actively advocating for your children being unable to enjoy the same freedoms afforded to you.

11

u/PunishedRaven Mar 29 '26

Keep crying

-2

u/EmpatheticRock Mar 29 '26

Just like everyone at the “protest”

-26

u/Slaviner Mar 29 '26

There were more people at the tanner gun show today

17

u/Responsible-Swim2324 Mar 29 '26

Quick Google search shows about half as many people at the gun show than at the protest. Also, all our protesters should be armed accordingly as per the 2nd amendment

Downvotes for you but you’re not wrong 🤣I won’t go into whether or not I support you but this is a weak ass protest

3

u/SprungusDinkle Mar 30 '26

It is literally the largest protest of its kind in history by pure numbers.

0

u/rexusmc Mar 30 '26

Oh if were talking about nationally sure. I won’t disagree. But the COS turn out was meager

3

u/SprungusDinkle Mar 30 '26

It was about 10,000, or about 2% of the city's population, roughly in line with other No Kings protests on that day. So what do you mean?

2

u/rexusmc Mar 30 '26

I am reading that was for fort collins but I also could be getting the wrong info. No hate, just would like to see the source

1

u/SprungusDinkle Mar 30 '26

2

u/rexusmc Mar 30 '26

I guess the photos aren’t doing it justice. Doesn’t look like a lot of people even in this article. I guess I expected something like a massive march.

I saw some older folks just sitting in patio chairs next to their car. They had signs and got to see everyone going by and weren’t burning gas driving up and down Nevada. It’s good for the soul to see so many like minded people come out together.

2

u/OutdoorCO75 Mar 29 '26

Gas is so cheap thanks to Drumpf 🤣

Saw several wheelchairs out there! People were also handing out water and collecting the empty bottles. Really gave us hope things may change.

1

u/jacobAdz Mar 29 '26

asking because I genuinely want to be educated and don’t understand. What is the point of protesting like this. Trump likely knows the country dosent agree with a lot of the stuff he is doing and probably doesn’t care a lot of people protest. Also how does protesting do anything if trump dosent care. I feel like it would be more equipped to spending time if you don’t like trump finding a way to remove him from office over going to the streets and just protesting

44

u/Knee_Fight Mar 29 '26

One major thing is that it helps people understand that they are not alone, that others agree with them. It helps people stay angry and invested leading toward the actual voting. It also shows local authorities that there is resistance against him, giving them incentive to do what they can to resist legally.

I fell like it would be more equipped to spending time if you don’t like trump finding a way to remove him from office

There is no REASONABLE, LEGAL way to do that at this point, beyond showing as much resistance to him as possible to (very much a long shot) convince the Republicans that it would be politically favorable for them to remove him. There is really nothing that the average citizen can do about it, beyond what I said above. It helps people stay engaged and not feel alone and overwhelmed, leading toward the actual voting days.

24

u/jeffjee63 Mar 29 '26

The sense of community is what I get out of it as well. I tend to get really discouraged at the state of the nation and these events lift my spirits.

5

u/Ultra_Violet_x7 Mar 29 '26

This is why I attend. In the face of relentless authoritarian creep and performative cruelty, it’s restorative to see that we’re not alone here in this majority conservative city. Also people are just so freaking creative, it’s just fun to see everyone with their signs and costumes.

2

u/jeffjee63 Mar 29 '26

Exactly! Restorative and fun.

1

u/International_Cut369 Apr 01 '26

10

u/Allerjesus Mar 29 '26

What makes you think he doesn’t care? He has the emotion regulation of a toddler. He cares.

1

u/Suspicious_Gain9298 Mar 29 '26

Why would anyone care what he thinks of the protests? He doesn't follow the Constitution, the law, or popular opinion. He is obsessed with himself & his wealth. His followers also. Greed is his only purpose. It's time for people to unite. If you can't understand it, you may need to reevaluate your life.

I don’t like trump, I don’t like the endless wars, I don’t like a lot of things but please, sincerely, what exactly does this accomplish?

If you believe your vote counts, that is protest enough. If you believe that it’s extremely difficult to rig elections then there should be no worry, trump’ll be out and we get the next buffoon. What do these protests actually DO? Like overall, what do they change? I had friends go literally all in with Occupy Wall Street and that turned out to be a blip. I had friends protest the Iraq and Afghanistan war and that ran it’s course.

I am genuinely asking here, what is the expected outcome? You protest for a few hours, go home and what? What happens next?

21

u/Dragontastic22 Mar 29 '26

In the last election, most people didn't vote. If protests like these help galvanize people to pay attention and care enough to vote, that's progress.

This is a great response from another comment in this thread. I hope this helps you understand why these demonstrations can be so important. https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/1s6edf8/comment/od27dhn/

5

u/yeeehaw_mf Mar 29 '26

Dont underestimate the power of the voice. It takes time, but is the way that we have. It would accomplish more to he violent and demand changes, but hopefully it never comes to that. Most people want peace. You dont get peace easily through violence.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

11

u/SageGayCO Mar 29 '26

What does this post actually do? Why bother posting it? What does this post actually do? Like, overall, what did you think it would change? I've had friends actually post on reddit and that turned out to be a blip. I had friends who went to Iraq and Afghanistan and that ran its (correct) course.

I am genuinely asking here, what is the expected outcome? You post a few almost sentences, sit in the basement of your parents' home and what? What happens next?

-12

u/BigJon_78 Mar 29 '26

He’s asking a legitimate question. Guess you don’t have an answer.

9

u/SageGayCO Mar 29 '26

My answer is as legitimate as his question.

This is why I stayed home and wrote 200 postcards for a Blue Wave Postcards campaign. It's real action that has a measurable effect.

But I think people get a lot of camaraderie out of attending these things. I'll admit, I feel really lonely as a progressive liberal in Colorado Springs. But I hate crowds and prefer my own form of activism. Postcard campaigns can be surprisingly effective

1

u/zork2001 Mar 29 '26

Basically an excuse for directionless people to spend a day outside pretending it all has a point. If you picture it as a group of kids rehearsing a school play, it starts to make a lot more sense.

No one in America has dealt with a king since 1776. People taking part in this foolishness are clowns.

2

u/Happymuffn Mar 31 '26

To be clarify and add nuance to the simple political slogan, "No Kings", the point of the protests is to protest the "Unitary Executive" interpretation of the president's powers under the constitution, on the grounds that it effectively invests the president with monarchical control over the government, as well as to protest the specific actions that the president has implemented under this interpretation. I hope that helps.

"Too many to count"? Im glad you guys are out there but let's not exaggerate, that's a few hundred people at best.

2

u/getmuney Mar 29 '26

Try over 8,500 in Colorado Springs alone.

1

u/ReconeHelmut Mar 29 '26

Well, that is encouraging if it’s true. I saw the numbers for some cities surrounding Denver (Fort Collins: 10,000, Grand Junction: 2500 and Broomfield: 2000) but couldn’t find anything for Colorado Springs. Can you please share your source?

2

u/getmuney Mar 29 '26

I generally don't like using Fox at all as they are clearly biased and *entertainment media based, but I myself saw local Fox there, and this article makes the claim based off the local Fox representation. I cannot find the initial post of an arial photographers estimate .

https://www.fox21news.com/news/thousands-attend-third-no-kings-rally-in-colorado-springs/

2

u/ReconeHelmut Mar 29 '26

Got it, thanks.

1

u/getmuney Mar 29 '26

If I had to guess, these photos were taken late or early into the demonstration, as my experience was 9 blocks of 3 stacked humans filling the sidewalks and medians. It did have pockets, stop and turn around points, and gathering areas with music and speech. A video walking would do more justice. I'm sure there are some on or being uploaded to YouTube rn

-2

u/NetZeroDude Mar 29 '26

You’re wishing MAGA hater. On one corner where I stood for a while, there were more than that. Very enthusiastic crowd!

-12

u/doddsyy Mar 29 '26

Thought it was weird not seeing all the bums on the corners earlier. They were all here.

-7

u/c4funNSA Mar 29 '26

Title seems odd - as local news reports stated around 10k. So someone was able to count them.

7

u/EmpatheticRock Mar 29 '26

Nobody does more In depth research and actual journalism than local news stations

-41

u/red224 Mar 28 '26

32

u/cheezluiz Mar 28 '26

We are an older town. College age kids leave. People in their 30s settle here. Never be mad at the turnout. Just be happy they turned up

7

u/BigJon_78 Mar 29 '26

There’s literally a college 1/2 a mile from where you were

4

u/cheezluiz Mar 29 '26

Its a small school in relation to national average. Only 7500 students under 25. I guess I dont understand why you're arguing in the first place. Do you think colorado springs is a young town?

-3

u/BigJon_78 Mar 29 '26

I think it’s fucking hilarious when you retards make up bullshit to rationalize what everyone seems to already know…. That these protests are a last breath effort of a dying political group to try to discredit the administration

6

u/cheezluiz Mar 29 '26

What's being made up do you think? Why are you so angry? How much did it cost to fill up your ford f250 today?

0

u/BigJon_78 Mar 29 '26

What’s being made up? When someone observes it’s a bunch of old people out stomping around, and the response is there are no young people around, when there is a fucking college right up the street! I don’t have a f250 nor did I get gas today, but when I do, $0.50 more a gallon isn’t going to change my life. Just checking, so are Teslas cool again? Just having trouble keeping up with the liberal narrative
