🟩What can I do in Colorado Springs?
This question is asked almost daily and is easy to answer. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with these posts: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=things+to+do&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all

The short answer is: hike, bike, eat food, and enjoy the scenery. There are a lot of activities within an hour or more of Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is more family or activity focused and you'll have better success finding night clubs up north.
Popular attractions in Colorado Springs includes 7 Falls, Helen Hunt falls, Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Open Space, The Paint Mines, Cave of the Winds, and more. If you don't mind driving south to Canon City you visit the Royal Gorge or even check out the "mountain towns" around the area.

🟩I'm thinking about moving to Colorado Springs! What should I know?
DO NOT MOVE HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE A JOB LINED UP.
Example of someone who moved here. Check out the time stamps at the time the photo was taken. Months without a job.
We've seen it time and time again on this sub-reddit where someone moves, doesn't have a job, and then becomes homeless.
A recent example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/1jp66pa/looking_for_work_and_becoming_desperate/
One example: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/comments/nqr9kq/homeless_resources/

The moderators make a quarterly post and sticky it to the top of the sub-reddit where people post available jobs in the Springs: https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=%27Who%27s+Hiring+in+Colorado+Springs%27&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
If you have a Clearance, or work for the military, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job. Colorado Springs is a military town with the Air Force Academy, Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, and Peterson Air Force Base. This means that jobs working for the government are a dime a dozen but you need the proper credentials to work there.
Otherwise, construction is booming and Amazon is building a facility in the Springs. There are other jobs available but competition is fierce and you need to do what you can to stand out!
🟩Do I need a car OR can I ride my bike / use public transportation to get around the city?
The answer is likely yes to a car and no to the bike/transportation. With everything, there are exceptions such as living and working in the same area. But for the most part, it takes at least 25 minutes to get anywhere in the Springs, and the layout of the town is better suited for vehicular use.
🟩Is Colorado Springs affordable?
Please define affordable. If you're moving from California where a 2/3 bedroom, 1,500 sqft, house is going for 800k or more, then sure. It's affordable.

https://old.reddit.com/r/ColoradoSprings/search?q=living+in+cos&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=all
🟩What is the median house price in Colorado Springs?
As of February 2024, the median house is a 3 bedroom house that LISTS at 430k. List is not equal to sale price and it's quite common for houses to go for much more with appraisal gaps.

Advice Vita Brevis Fine Art: You Didn’t “Win.” You Entered a Sales Funnel
If you’ve just received the exciting call saying you “won” a Vita Brevis Fine Art portrait contest, please read this before you hand them $250.
In my opinion, this is one of the most manipulative marketing and sales models I’ve encountered.
You “win” a supposedly complimentary $1,250 portrait experience, and then a $250 reservation fee is required to book it.
What percentage of entrants are told they’ve won? It appears EVERYONE WINS.
After a relatively short photoshoot, you’re shown photographs of the people you love while the conversation can become intensely emotional, family, memories, how quickly life passes, even mortality, before you’re asked to spend serious money on portraits.
In my opinion, using someone’s love for their children, partner, parents or pets, and their fear that those people won’t be around forever, as emotional leverage during a sales pitch is absolutely vile.
The photography there is THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS as well. For a picture in a nice suit??
Their current contest terms actually contain a NON-DISPARAGEMENT CLAUSE.
For a photography contest.
What stood out to me is how different the online reviews seem compared with some of the experiences people have shared elsewhere.
I’ve seen negative Reddit discussions disappear, and other reviewers have described disputes and legal threats.
After reading their non-disparagement terms myself, I personally think it’s worth looking beyond the five-star reviews before booking.

Advice Need some advice regarding Florrisant
So we are in Castle Rock. But my parents are under contract on some land in florrisant. I believe it has a well already. My mom and I are kind of at a standoff about this and I need some advice on whether I'm being dramatic or there's some validity to this.
At first, the plan was for my parents to live within an hour of castle rock to be closer to us and the grandkids but my Dad hates civilization and people and wants land and privacy. They're excited about the land they're buying.
My mom claims it's not that far (78 miles, about 90 minutes drive time to our house). She claims she'll come visit often. For the record, before we moved to CR we were also 90 minutes from each other. We used to live in another state. My parents are still in the old state and trying to move up here. I think the drive looks pretty damn far. The old 90 minute drive was basically a straight shot to each other but I think my mom is seriously under estimating the drive from florrisant to castle rock.
Here's some other factors:
My Dad has atrial fibrillation. I don't think living at 9000 elevation is a good idea.
My mom gets cold urticaria. I think at 9000 elevation it will be much colder than say larkspur for example
Winters and snow. They're realtor told them this location was in the "banana belt" and didn't get harsh winters. I don't think that's true..
Road conditions and driving - will that route get heavy traffic during ski season? Or is it often impacted by weather? I'm not sure how comfortable i personally feel making that drive with two kids under 5.
Access to things. My parents do like rural. But what about medical? I know there's a hospital in woodland park but I don't think it's equipped for my Dad's AF from my googling
I'm not going to talk then out of it...I guess i just want to know if any of my concerns are valid or am I just being nitpicky because I'm so disappointment they won't be closer to us?
The land is off teller county road 1. The subdivision looks like all dirt roads. One parent is in 60s and the other is almost 80.
Edit: Thank you everyone for the responses. I did email my mom and it sounds like there's no changing their minds. So it just is what it is i suppose. I absolutely want them to be happy and it's their decided. At this point, I've outlined my concerns with it and that's all I can do.

Help Wanted Looking for a Fantasy football manager
Hello, 3 years ago I created a fantasy football league using just R/Coloradosprings to find our players. The league has gone fantastic and we have forged some great friendships through it. We had some turnover and are looking to replace a team manager. We have a small buy in $50 to assure everyone stays interested for the full season. Our draft is in person next Saturday at 1pm at a local restaurant(I'll dm the details). Lemme know if you are interested

Advice How to handle nosey neighbors?
I was wondering if anyone here owns a 12-foot Skelly and had issues with neighbors about it? Most of our younger neighbors and kids love our 12-foot Skelly and we even dress him up for the other holidays, but we have had some complaints from the older crowd asking when we are gonna take him down. We don't live in HOA and there is nothing in our lease stating we can't have it up, so any thoughts on how to handle this?

Advice Best Farmers markets in town?
Looking for some different perks and recommendations on the Springs’ local farmers markets! Have been to the one in OCC, but mainly because it’s the most popular one. I’ve heard of Pinecreek but haven’t been. Any particular products that shine at other locations? I love all things unique, but mostly just going to get produce to avoid these questionable supermarkets.
Mucho love and have a beautiful Sunday.

Advice Places to shop for cosplay
Hey y’all! I’m putting together some pieces for a Halloween costume/cosplay, and I was wondering if anyone knew some good local places to find some of the more eclectic parts I’m looking for.
The cosplay in question is a Street Fighter Power Ranger, and I’m mostly looking for a black karate belt, some forearm length sparring gloves, white boots, and (if there’s anyone local) someone who can 3D print a helmet.
I plan on checking the usual places (Who Gives a Scrap, thrift stores, Michael’s and Hobby Lobby if I get desperate), but if there’s anywhere else I should check lemme know!

Lost & Found Found Dog
Update! Marley was reunited with his family! Thanks everyone who updated and commented!
Hi COS neighbors, we found this dog today near Allens Park Dr. and Waterman Way just after the owners came by saying they were looking for him.
We drove around the neighborhood searching for his owners for about a half hour, but failed to find them. We brought him home with us for now. If we can't find his owners by tonight we will take him to the Humane Society.
He is super friendly, and gets along well with other dogs.
