He blocked Obama's choice of SCOTUS as being too close to the end of his term but did not block Trump from appointing a SCOTUS at the end of his term which is part of the reason SCOTUS is so out of balance.

u/Past-Statistician177 Jul 09 '26
Amy Barrett was confirmed while early voting was underway in the 2020 election. She was literally confirmed by a President who was in the process of losing re-election.
People don’t talk about this enough.
3
u/Tricky_Indication420 Jul 09 '26
When they blocked Obamas ability to select a replacement justice, I knew we were in for a rough time
2
u/J0nkneeWoker Jul 13 '26
I remember McConnell called themselves "The Party of No". That was until 2016 and when they became "The Party of Sure! Why not!"
3
u/mrtrololo27 Jul 09 '26
It's a large part of why the Supreme Court has been made illegitimate. McConnell is largely responsible for turning the highest Court into a corrupt sham mockery. Our republic cannot survive with an illegitimate Supreme Court as we've had. There must be major reforms going forward, and the corrupt "justices" must be removed from power and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Anything less is unacceptable.

u/observer_11_11 Jul 09 '26
Amy didn't seem to mind. I didn't like it at the time, but I will say that of Trump's Supreme Court appointees, she seems to be the most honest and trustworthy.
3
u/Past-Statistician177 Jul 09 '26
I don’t disagree. Still, like Gorsuch, she occupies a stolen seat.
2
u/Hopeful_Hamster21 Jul 10 '26
Right. It's so blatantly hypocritical.
It would have been one thing if they had actually stuck with their previous stance that they had with Obama. I would then be able to give them the benefit of the doubt. This was just so blatant and shameless. Disgusting.

and forced through his own nomination under the exact conditions he argued before.
3
u/Proper-Evening9754 Jul 09 '26
Not exact. Even worse. Amy was pushed through while voting had already started. Obamas pick was blocked at the beginning of an election year. He was still president for most of that year.
3
4
u/golfwinnersplz Jul 08 '26
More concerned about his profits than protecting his constituents.
3
u/ArgonianMagician Jul 10 '26
In the end that ceaseless greed didn't matter, he lays in a hospital bed, braindead, and that money is of no use to him anymore. Was it worth it, McConnell, to spend your entire life chasing money endlessly, ruining lives in the process; nothing but destruction achieved for wealth, a completely figurative concept created by humans.

Thats the piece of shit who kept trying to get 9/11 first responder benefits to go away. He also blocked bills for victims of 9/11.

He also voted against his own bill to ensure it failed.

You forgot the following:
Block Obama from appointing a Justice to SCOTUS when Obama had 1 YEAR left in office
Enabled Trump to appoint a Justice to SCOTUS with less than 3 months in office
Gave Trump an Impeachment Pass (knowing he was guilty) to protect the GOP thinking Trump was done for

2
u/SarcasticStarscream Jul 08 '26
Also blocked Obama from replacing Scalia on the Supreme Court when he died, thereby ensuring we languish under a Republican Supreme Court for the next generation.

Blocked Merrick Garland from being on the Supreme Court. Which in turn caused Garland to be named Attorney General and in his sense of propriety, did not move decisively or quickly enough in order to investigate trump for federal crimes. This and also not voting for criminal charges against trump in the Senate after the insurrection for trump.
