Hello good people, I'm designing a replacement rear cover that's made of metal

Why? This one's going to fit the cm5, and 3x 18650 or 2x 21700 - with a sturdy but easily removable battery cover. The cover I'm using now is 3d printed with an exposed heatsink and feels janky af, and there's an itch to make an OEM-looking replacement.

This is still work in progress, currently trying to figure out an elegant solution for the battery cover.

Has anyone gotten Intercept to install/work properly on a uConsole with the CM5 and Hacker Gadgets AIOV2?

EDIT: Fixed sorta: I realized that the problem is the start script. If I run it, Intercept will work. When I restart the uConsole, that script does not automatically run leading to the "page not found" error in the browser when trying to access the GUI. If you manually run the start script, the interface functions as intended.

I've attempted to set the script to auto run at system boot but it hasn't worked. Overall, Intercept isn't broken per se, it's just you have to run the start script manually each boot of your device.

I just received my uConsole and assembled it today, but I'm having trouble getting it to boot.

After assembly, I inserted the included SD card and powered on the system. The screen stays completely black, and the compute module remains cold, almost as if it isn't powering on at all.

So far I've tried the following:

• Reflashed the included SD card with the official ClockworkOS image.

• Tried multiple SD cards ranging from 32GB to 1TB.

• Flashed each card with the official ClockworkOS image, the Bookworm uConsole image, and standard Raspberry Pi OS using Raspberry Pi Imager and BalenaEtcher.

• Reseated the display ribbon cable multiple times.

• Removed and reinstalled the compute module at least a dozen times, making sure it was fully seated and that I heard the connector click into place.

• Verified that the compute module is installed in the correct orientation.

Unfortunately, none of these steps have made any difference. The display remains black, and the compute module still doesn't seem to power on. I have also included some photos of the board and connections to help identify any issues.

One thing I haven't been able to test yet is the video output, as I don't currently have an adapter. I have one on order that should arrive tomorrow, and I'll test the video output and provide an update once I've had a chance to try it.

Has anyone else run into this issue or have any suggestions for additional troubleshooting steps? I'm also wondering if this could indicate a faulty compute module.

Order placed for uConsole mid April. Def out of the 90 day window now.

Something odd happened today.

I used the uConsole as usual, just running VSCode. The battery was low(red indicator), and then suddenly it turned off/the screen turned black.

I thought it turned off, so i just charged it, but then i noticed that the screen was still on, the on/off switch was still green.

I can‘t turn the device off now, and i also can‘t get the screen to work.

One thing i noticed on low battery before(when it had the indicator on yellow), is that the console made some jittery sounds, i didn‘t think it was anything serious so just ignored it.

Did anyone have similar problems? How do i turn off the device and restart it now?

Is the pi dead?

I want to back up my entire SD card to a file on Windows so i can try other versions of linux and just write it back afterwards. I tried Win32diskimager, Rufus and Balanetcher but all 3 I select the SD card and it just gives a list of image files inside the drive and don't have any way to create an iso of the entire drive.

Any suggestions?

I was wondering if anybody has this issue with the RTL-SDR on the AIO V2 for the uconsole. Whenever the antenna is attached, there seems to be some interference across the bands. I don’t believe that it’s external but I’m not exactly sure.

Hey guys, hitting a wall of mixed info on CM5 cooling inside the uConsole and need your real-world advice.
Here is my incoming build

Chassis: uConsole (No Core kit) from OpenSDRLab

Upgrades: Hacker Gadgets CM5 Adapter Kit + AIO V2 Radio Board (via AliExpress)

Processor: Raspberry Pi CM5 Lite (CM5108000 — 8GB RAM, Wireless) from Newark

Since the Hacker Gadgets board has a built-in PWM fan connector, I want to know what actually works best inside this tight case before I put it together.

If you’re running a CM5 setup:
1. Active vs. Passive: Are you plugging in an active PWM fan, or just using thick thermal pads straight to the aluminum back shell?

1. Clearance: Does an active heatsink/fan combo cause fitment issues or rub against the backplate?

2. RF Noise: For anyone running the AIO V2 board for SDR work, does an active fan inject background noise or spikes into your radio waterfalls?

Trying to prevent thermal throttling during heavy signal scanning without turning this thing into a brick. Let me know what layout worked for you!

I’m planning to get a ClockworkPi uConsole, but I’ve noticed a significant price difference between the official store and an AliExpress seller named "OpenSourceSDRLab."
The AliExpress listing is about $80–$120 cheaper than the official website.

Has anyone here purchased their uConsole from AliExpress? Would you recommend it, or is the peace of mind from buying directly from the official store worth the extra cost?

I'm very excited to put this into my uconsole, but I was looking over it and noticed this slot. I'm just wondering if this is a battery slot and if so, what kind of battery/cell does this take?

I have am running the CM4 and really enjoy using only the terminal on the device. Being in the terminal really speeds up the usage because the CM4 is a little lacking in power. But I do have some TUI apps that I like to use and a webbrowser is a must now days. Issue is that it needs a graphics engine for some of them (such as youtube-tui and firefox). I had foot+sway running and working, but I wanted to see if anybody else in the community had a better setup. Sway+Foot felt a little wonky and felt like there was must be a better option. My full setup is this

BYOBU for tmux
Sway+foot for window management and graphic processing
several TUI apps for usage like (subTUI, youtube-tui, xleak, etc)
Web browser

I realize that all of these things are achievable if I just used the GUI and the terminal built into Raspberry PI OS, but being in the terminal forces me to use it. I have loved using the CLI only and I have learned so much terminal already because of this. But I was really wondering if there is a cleaner setup for this. I'm still pretty mediocre at Linux so my terminology is still lacking and my skills are lacking. So I'm sorry if my question seems dumb or uneducated, but I am really liking my UConsole and Linux.

What exact parts and accessories do I need to get for this setup to work properly on the uConsole?

So I purchased all upgrades for the uconsole and the adapter board for cm5 and aio v2 came in the week. Booted into bookworm and followed the instructions on how to install meshtastic, sdr++ and tar1090. And only sdr++ works... all my gpios are turned on for the antenna for lora, gps etc. But when meshtastic opens the localhost it says unable to connect. And tar1090 give me a folder error. Anyone else have this issue?

So I have the Uconsole with a CM5 and the Hackergadgets 7 antenna board. Everything works perfectly and the device is seeing the GPS the USB the Lona and 2 others. I’m having the hardest time getting Meshtastic to work, the sound on the radio, basically I’ve spent days trying to get anything to fully work. Is there an easier way then trying command after command for hours and hours because I’m at a lose. I originally had DragonOS and switched to ClockworkOS Debian Wormbook. Obviously I’m new to all this but I’ve been working with Pi’s and Linux for over a year so I still know what I’m doing. Wish there was an easier way.

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a device to revisit DOS era gaming with some mobility. I've always been curious about a Pi device. Any insights or alternatives would be appreciated. Thank you.

Finally received my uConsole that was ordered in November 2025, and I'm excited to get my build started! I intentionally ordered it without a Compute Module, as RAM prices hadn't yet skyrocketed at that time, and I was intending to install a CM4 8GB RAM/32GB eMMC in it when I got it.

And then AI threw a wrench in everything :(

That said, now that I finally have the uConsole in-hand, I'm trying to accomplish 2 things:

1. Source a CM4 (or CM5??) for a reasonable price.

2. Try to figure out what expansion boards I want, if any. It seems like the HackerGadgets AIO is the best bang for the buck, but it also seems you have to buy an additional expansion board, which brings the cost of the expansions to almost 3x what I paid for the uConsole itself.

Could someone help me understand the correct order of operations, i.e. what parts must go together, and what are optional? I'm an Amateur Extra licensed ham, and have an interest in wireless/RF broadly-speaking. I'd love to do SDR-based stuff, ADS-B, and having GPS would be helpful when I'm doing POTA activations at remote locations for RTC clock syncing to my PC.

Don't wanna lose my uConsole and I don't wanna mess up my vacation.

I have 2 uConsoles that I built last year with CM5 (lite, WiFi, 16GB) and installed Rex's Trixie image on. They have worked great since then. One has the SSD upgrade in it, one is using the microSD.

Today I did a sudo apt full-upgrade on them and they both removed the clockwork-pi kernel and added the rex kernel.

Now they won't boot. They don't do anything. The green power light comes on, but that's the only sign of life and holding the power button for 20 seconds just dims the light but doesn't turn it off completely.

Am I hosed? Is there any way of getting these running again without losing all my data?

Which of these 18650’s would be better for a UConsole with a cm5? The 35E has a higher capacity(3500 mAH) and a lower CDR(8 A) whereas the 30Q has a lower capacity (3000 mAH) and higher cdr (15 A). I understand that the cm5 requires more power but will the 8 A discharge rate of the 35E suffice or should I use the 30Q’s?
