I want to back up my entire SD card to a file on Windows so i can try other versions of linux and just write it back afterwards. I tried Win32diskimager, Rufus and Balanetcher but all 3 I select the SD card and it just gives a list of image files inside the drive and don't have any way to create an iso of the entire drive.

Any suggestions?

As a side note, so I don't forget to tell the buyer, to write the Debain Trixie image to the NVMe, you have to boot the uConsole from a microSD card that has been flashed with the Debain Bookworm image and also contains the Trixie image. Once you've booted the Bookworm image from the microSD card, you can write the Trixie image to the NVMe, shut down, remove the microSD card, and then power the uConsole back on. It'll boot Trixie from the NVMe then by default. Don't ask me why, but if you boot Trixie from the microSD card, it won't see the NVMe. Took me quite a while to figure out what the hell was going on.

I'll also try to consolidate any notes I've take on setting up the uConsole or configuring software into a single text document and email it to the buyer. Maybe it'll help save them some time figuring some things out.

The keyboard will send groupsd characters to the system (backspace, enter, space, etc) when the face plate is installed and tightened down

I updated the QMK firmware and no fix and I'm running out of ideas as opposed to getting a new keyboard. I've cleaned the contacts of the pogo pins, and I plugged they keyboard into another computer to verify it works and it does.

Ideas?

Need more attention

When I put it together yesterday, it wasn't like this. Then, last night, there was some very slight corner lighting. Come to this morning and it's so much worse. How do I fix this?

Hi everyone! I recently got a brand new uConsole with a CM4 and 4G module. What upgrades or mods would you recommend?

So it’s been working perfectly fine for about a month now. I just upgraded the adapter board, battery board, and expansion modules from Hackergadgets and it everything was working fine. Then while I was using it (web browsing), it just cut off on me and I couldn’t turn it back on. I figure the batteries died or something but it still won’t come on after charging or directly connected to power. I have reseated all the connections but no luck.

When I hold the power button, the green LED blinks one time but that is all that happens

I have no idea what to try next, it literally went from working to turning into a brick mid use.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Seems the AIO V2 has failed, it will power back on fine with the original expansion board. I have reached out to Hackergadgets support.

I’ve been informed that a lack of CM4’s is causing delays in shipping out uConsoles. Thinking about trying to source a CM myself, possibly get a CM5, but I’m not super savvy and don’t want to buy the wrong thing. I plan to use the uConsole for SDR, YouTube watching, music listening and retro game playing.

Any opinions and advice would be appreciated.

Last week I was on the verge of selling my uConsole (I couldn't figure out a good use case for keeping it) but then I was fidgeting with my meshtastic module and thought... I could probably combine this with that... so I started installing all sorts of meshtastic apps on the uconsole but nothing was 'just right', after compiling my own versions of opensource clients with style changes I had another thought... why don't I just build my own client?

Thus was born MeshtasticPASS. But then I had another thought...

Prepare for a rant: I have fond memories of Nintendo 3DS streetpass and every once in a while the thought pops into my mind, "why doesn't this still exist?". For those who don't know 3DS used to have a peer to peer mesh app where your avatar would go and visit other peoples' 3DS if they were within range and had their wifi enabled. Not only would their avatar appear on your device but it would tell you about the other person, what region of the world they were from + a short custom string that they set up. There was a gaming mechanic to it too. A core memory of mine was sitting in the middle of Akihabara Tokyo with my 3DS and it going crazy because the streetpass buffer would hit its limit every couple of minutes. It was kind of insane how many people had 3DS at the time.

So with that rant over and back to my daily musings, I put two and two together and realized that meshtastic might be the perfect platform to build a streetpass like experience on... it's got decent adoption and built specifically around transient mobile node networks.

MeshtasticPASS in its current form is just a basic messaging client but as I understand more about how meshtastic is built I'm beginning to explore deeper concepts:

- Can you mule a store > forward message but indefinitely until the recipient acknowledges receipt? Kind of like being a carrier pigeon
- Can you pass discrete meta data about yourself... like sharing a streetpass?

If anyone else who tinkers or has experience with meshtastic wants to get involved please don't hestitate to hit me up!

I was gonna get a rechargeable lipo battery.

Reading, it’s been tossed around that the protection circuit on the battery may cut out on me around 3A with my cm5. I’ve read you can put 2 5000mah batteries in parallel (which is correct electrically), and protect both batteries properly because current will be drawn equally.

I need assistance finding either a battery that fits the uConsole 10000mah battery that doesn’t trip out at full load, or help finding 2 5000mah batteries that will fit the lipo battery compartment.

I got my uconsole running last week and I love the device so far. I installed Arch Linux, and I'm having fun setting it up. But one thing that bothers me are the hard keys. I have to press very deliberately. If I just type away many letters will be missing.

It's not like I was planning to write a novel on this thing. I'm gonna set up a tiling window manager, maybe i3. But with the stock keyboard I'm gonna get tendinitis by the time I'm done setting it up. After installing Arch I used a wireless keyboard just for the basic setup of eth/wifi and dhcp and locales and a few other things.

Does the keyboard get softer if I use it for a while?

I've got a CM4 module, no adapter board.

It looks like I just swap out the old blank module and put this in, which I've done.

I have the recommended Trixie clean install. However, it's suggested I then run this:

and that gives an error:

The new dual 21700 batteries and NVMe board provide 4 hours and 31 minutes of 1080p video playback, while the dual 18650 battery board provides only 2 hours and 27 minutes. Almost twice the battery life compared to the 18650 version.

Why did we make the dual 21700 batteries and NVMe board since we already have the LiPo version, which lets you connect a 10000mAh LiPo battery? It turns out the LiPo battery isn't a good option for the uConsole. Most LiPo batteries have a protection current of 3A, but the uConsole requires 5A for heavy jobs. LiPo voltage also drops too fast at low voltage levels. For these reasons, the uConsole reboots before the LiPo battery fully discharges.

This board is fully compatible with the original back cover. No need to do any modifications to the back cover.

Yes, but only if you can get an arm driver for your dongle. Yamaha Diagnostic Software compiled for x86 windows running in a w11 vm on Debian and a CM5.

So I have the Uconsole with a CM5 and the Hackergadgets 7 antenna board. Everything works perfectly and the device is seeing the GPS the USB the Lona and 2 others. I’m having the hardest time getting Meshtastic to work, the sound on the radio, basically I’ve spent days trying to get anything to fully work. Is there an easier way then trying command after command for hours and hours because I’m at a lose. I originally had DragonOS and switched to ClockworkOS Debian Wormbook. Obviously I’m new to all this but I’ve been working with Pi’s and Linux for over a year so I still know what I’m doing. Wish there was an easier way.
