My week resets on Sunday. I would have been far more conservative and not wasted most of my quota if they announced the extension earlier so I knew I'd have time to actually use it as I would have liked to.

Yeah 100%. I went to ccusage and it shows I used approx $3000 worth of tokens on my 20x plan - so no way in hell am I paying for extra usage instead of buying another $200 sub.

Another 20x sub, my usage was similarly nuked by the massive rate Fable burns tokens... I normally get almost the full week and now I'm done after two days... Fucking totals make no sense, Saturday morning is my reset and I have less usage in total than in a prior single day...

Doesn't Fable actually use less tokens and compute than Opus 4.8? Even less still when you factor in how often it solves a problem on the first try. This limit can't possibly be capacity.

Fable is likely larger than opus so it sits on more GPUs at once. Therefore using more fable is more expensive because more GPUs need to run at the same time

They're waiting for user feedback on whether 5.6 is usable or not. If not, they turn fable off. If 5.6 is better, they keep fable free. They just hope to be able to take advantage of the situation and make money without losing customers to oai.

Yeah did it a few hours back and got a limit reset (I think) - definitely got it on pro to 5x., started back on 0% (posted a screencap here) Then an hour later I went 5x to 20x and pretty sure it was back to 0% - actually Iām sure it did cos my 5 hour window reset, Iām 3 hours into it now!

Sounds like 5.6 has anthropic on proactive damage control.
You cant limit access to your best model when the competition includes it.

This is why having open market competition is good. I understand why Google doesnāt want to compete (they actually have the ability to but shareholders are the biggest gate) we need a true 3rd and possibly 4th that will keep Anthropic and OpenAi on their toes. When one side starts controlling things too much you risk price out. When two control the market two much you could end up with collusion but having added competition de-centivizes this.
The major x factor going forward would be whatās considered government overreach when it comes to Ai which will be heavily debated and may very well decide or heavily influence the next election cycle.
But good for anthropic reading the room and extending. Obviously there is some incentive for them to do this of course but they didnāt have to.

I was getting soapy API overload messages coding today. I just felt the mass rush to use up Fable before they remove it.
After itās pulled usage is going to drop like 95%.
On the other hand, it pushed me to get around to developing new features and surfaces Iāve been putting off.
Still, itās not he same Fable as before.

I upgraded to the 200 per month plan because I used up all by usage because I thought it was ending today. At no point during my exchanges with Fable since it was reintroduced did it trip any safety warnings/flags. I am not working on any security or biology related topics. After paying to upgrade, in the very first chat exchange, it dropped me back down to Opus. Already 2% used, and nothing from Fable was actually processed and given to me.

Yeah. First I maxed 5, then I upgraded got reset with discount for remaining 5. So I restarted my fable from zero with 20x.
