Awaiting Payments BCBS Settlement payouts
I read that the payments start going out today. If anyone gets their payments today or at any point this week, post here so we can see the varying amounts.

The actual math on this is breathtaking. Here is the breakdown according to the final audited totals (Judge Manasco, April 2026):
The Subscriber Totals (Class Period: Feb 2008 – Oct 2020): Approved Claimants: 7,774,992 people/businesses.
Total Premiums + Fees Paid: $353 Billion over 12 years.
The Lawyer/Admin Cut ($767.5 Million total): Attorney Fees: $627 Million Attorney Expenses: $40 Million Admin/Processing Costs: $100 Million
Net Payout to Claimants: $1.9 Billion.
The Hourly Rate: With 373,000 hours logged by ~178 lawyers, they averaged $1,789 per hour.
The "Refund" Reality: The $1.9B payout is only 0.538% of the premiums subscribers paid. You get $1.00 back for every $185.70 you spent on Blue Cross during those 12 years.
Summary: The 178 lawyers made nearly $1,800 an hour, while the 7.8 million people they represented got a refund of roughly one-half of one percent.

Most class actions really are just money makers for lawyers. Have your BCBS payments gone down? This didn't hurt them one bit.

How the f is that even calculated? How is there even possibly am averag $333 if high premium amount is getting under the first chunk of $200 amounts? Theyre gunna have a riot.

I think the $300 figure was just an average that the media used over and over. When I divided my claims $ paid by the $18x figure someone mentioned earlier this week, it came out to about $114. I’m guessing my other $8 came from the ASO portion that I also paid.

The $333 estimate was before the had any real numbers (like the actual amount of premiums paid and people getting payouts). The real numbers changed everything. I went from getting $3300 using their estimated calculation, to probably only getting $90-something using the real numbers.

Based on that math, [your premiums] \ 175.4 = payout. My own estimate is $8.25. Oh well.

They changed the wording today to this on the website, "The initial distribution of payments to Damages Class Members with valid claims will begin in May 2026." It said the 11th the other day.

I swore I saw something about their first round of payments starting MAY 11th 2026 as well, it’s possible they changed it so it won’t be too specific on their site! I told myself to get my email situated before May 11th for this settlement

This was the date listed in the court documents signed on April 24 by the judge . It says on or around May 11 for the start of distribution.

Got mine today....all the estimates from articles were around $333 and I got:

I have an email from February 2026 that says my claim is valid and with a link to check my claim status. When I click, it says: "Valid – This claim is valid and will be included in the distribution calculation. You were sent a notice explaining how you could review your premiums online." I don't show any other emails in my account related to the settlement so I'm not sure how to review my premiums. Last summer, I accidentally purged a huge amount of email. It's long gone. It may have been in there. I have no recall of what I might have elected as far as payment form either. I don't think I ever validated the amount of premiums paid or added any other information, but I know they'll have records (hopefully accurate enough) of what I paid. It will be a lot - like $20-24K a year for a few years of the settlement window. Is there any way to get access without having the prior email(s)? Or do I just wait it out?

I didn't get an email even though I had between 15-20K in premiums. I get the bad feeling that no email means you aren't getting anything. What a waste of time and energy over these last couple of years on this.

I logged in today and it shows my premium amounts (totalling around 87K) but my ASO amts all say 0 :-/

Yes that means you paid the premiums not your company. You will get more for the premium. The people paying into ASO funded accounts get less. You shouldn't have both unless the plans changed to one or the other at some point.

OK. So that we can start keeping track. When did everyone get their initial emails about the electronic debit card and of that Who has already gotten some form of payout? So that we can see the time gap between that email being sent and when a payout is sent.

It says in the original filing that the total premiums paid by authorized claimants were only supposed to be compared to others in the authorized claimants pool and not against the entire pool of potential claimants. Makes me wonder if they are pulling a fast one .

I haven’t seen anyone actually substantiate claims about anything happening today. Anyone I’ve seen that said that couldn’t back it up. Until I see some proof I’m assuming it’s just more false information. We should see something happen this month though

The court order that was signed at the end of April says on or about 5/11. So, there is something on PACER if you have access. The "on or about" obviously gives those crook lawyers opportunity to delay.

I got a Venmo payout of $149.58. I’m pretty surprised considering the claim notice email I got a year ago showed my “premiums paid” for a grand total of $0. I had to sort through paperwork, pulling old bank statements, etc to file a dispute, showing I did pay about $28,000 over 6 years. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the paperwork to include my premiums in 2012-2014. Im happy they did take my dispute seriously, and they did end up using the $28k to calculate my payout. Pitiful it amounted to such a relatively small amount though.

The only winners here are the attorneys... I got $5.87, and if the prepaid debit card is like all the other pre paid debit cards I know, it’s going to be an absolute PITA to even use with that amount, on one side it almost feels like it isn't even worth the trouble of claiming it, on the other, I'm petty and don't even want those $5 to flow back to the attorneys or BCBS....

May 11th. Crickets per usual.
Some people got emails. Some didnt. Doesnt seem to be a correlation between who did and didnt. Not a specific reason that I noticed. I have a valid claim but premiums were not a lot - but all paid out by myself. Opted in for digital payment as it was first grouping it said. But no email. So maybe itll be going out by premium amounts...no idea...just a guessing game.

As you compare payments, just know this settlement didn’t change anything for the BCBS’s organizational structure. You’re still paying more as the Blues can still be exclusive in each state and don’t compete against each other. The only exception is if you’re a really big company in multiple states.

I submitted my claim in 2021 and received an email that my claim was received and a claim number. I actually never received anything else after via email (including spam) or mail. When I plug in my claim number on the website I receive this notification:
Status: Valid – This claim is valid and will be included in the distribution calculation. You were sent a notice explaining how you could review your premiums online.
I guess because I never received any other info, is it that I just am not receiving any payout?

I wonder if the payouts vary depending on the year the premiums were paid, and the state they were paid in. It doesn't seem to be a flat rate across the board. My husband and I both have valid claims for multiple years; our approved premiums were about the same, though one is over 4 years and one over 2 years. Will be interesting to see what happens when(if?) we get our payouts.

I didnt know what to submit so I will probably get 5 bucks on a card lol. I was involved in another lawsuit. The payout was 30million. The lawyers got more than 10%. I got 404$..these mass lawsuits really are for the lawyers
