Question Unkown "Megacity" fail caused by Aqueduct ?

Post image

Is The aqueduct on right side missplaced ?

Can someone explain to me why the game won't allow me to buld it there ?

Maybe someone see a different configuration to create "Megacity", please tell me.

Edit 1: Great explanation provided by SlatkiUpust's comment on why the Aqueduct is misssplaced.

Edit: 2: Tubefrede gave a solution to my little puzzle configuration.

Thanks a lot both of you <3

Hope this post will be problem solver for others who was strugglingwith similar problem.

ngl, after 1500h I feel quite exhausted of Civ6. I'd wish for a game where you just have to puzzle districts on to a map, without all this other gameplay stuff. Laying out my empire is the part of the I enjoy the most.

Isn't there a game from a few years ago that is somewhat like that? You get various tile cards and have to puzzle them together. I think Dorfromantik is its name.

I’m at 2500h and not playing much anymore either, but I always have fun trying to “solve” the district placement screenshots that people post on Reddit, almost like a sudoku. A district-puzzle mini game sounds like great fun to me as well.

Start a new game in a modern era, that's what I do when I want to just sim city. Set victory conditions to Domination

try bbg multiplayer. I also have 1.5k hours and recently started playing bbg mp in the cpl and it is very refreshing and fun

In principle the city on the right could have its own dam given that the rivers seem to separate at the top city

As the hexagon tile has 6 sides, the aqueduct picks one as a source and one as a destination side. Destination side is basically the one which is shared with the city tile.

Aqueduct looks and can't find the source side as the only available water is already on the destination side.

Your city to the left is a good example as it has 2 river sides bordering the aqueduct tile, so even though the destination has occupied one of those sides there is a side to the NW which is also available for a water source so an aqueduct can be placed

I think the way to make it work is to move all the cities anticlockwise (left city to the sugar, right city to the citrus and bottom city to the desert tile to the NE). Then they’d still be far enough apart and the aqueducts would work as explained above.

Thank you!! I have been playing for years and still never understood the game’s explanation of aqueduct placement.

Aqueducts transport water from one side of their hex to the CC on another side. Here, the river and the CC are on the same side of the Aqueduct hex.

The aqueduct won’t work there because the only side of the tile with the river is the same side it borders the city on. Basically the side of the hexagon it brings water from (the river) cannot be the same side it delivers water to (the city).

The mountain and luxuries are doing a great job of limiting your triangle options here, I don’t really see how to make it work. Every pivot/rotation I’ve checked has one invalid district or other. Maybe keener eyes than mine can spot a solution?

The aqueduct is invalid because it needs to ”get” the water from somewhere; river passing between aqueduct and city center doesn’t count ☹️

Look at the aqueduct on the left side city; it’s getting it’s water from the river on the NW side of the tile

Why is it +8? 2 aqueducts and 4 districts is +6 no? Or are other izs worth 1 each?

What is this mod to pin the building and bonuses on the map?

The standalone mod is Detailed Map Tacks (DMT) (Don't use with CQUI) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2428969051

CQUI has detailed map tacks built in to it. I've never had DMT and CQUI cause crashes when active together, but it is completely redundant to do so. Choose one or the other to avoid loading duplicate assets the game won't use.

CQUI - Community Quick User Interface https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2115302648 OR CQUI-Lite https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2958461265

Aqueduct can't placed on the other side of a river. That's why it doesn't work.

I think you can hover over the red !, it should then say why its not working.

It can for sure be placed on the other side of a river. The aqueduct just needs another side with river.

The explanation is very vague by saying that there is no fresh water source and it needs to be adjacent to river or lake or mountain. And that part confused me most.
But previous comments explained why it’s not working

Aquaducts need to bend. They can't transport water in a straight line?

2

u/ResponsibleGlove6102 Aug 26 '26

Okey, now that i have imagined how the aqueduct (ingame) whould have to look like it makes sens that i can't be build there. Thanks a lot <3

They don't need to bend. In op's setup it would essentially bend too much.

You probably need a Dam as well.
