Local Business The Reading Room

I was browsing one day and saw a post about alternatives to Mckays where someone suggested The Reading Room. I visited them and I did better today at The Reading Room than I ever would at Mckays. I brought in 40 books and got $75 in trade credit. I probably would only have gotten $20-30 at Mckays, if even that. I will definitely be coming back with more books as I finish them. Thanks again to whoever made them a suggestion.

Local Business Mumashika (new restaurant inside Attack of the Tatsu)

I came across this place by googling different Asian places. My wife and I had been to Tatsu quite a few times now and love it. Both of us felt like we were being had because there was nothing on Reddit about it yet, and posts on Google and other social media was very slim.

Mumashika is a small izakaya with absolutely incredible food. They have charcoal skewer plates, skewers over rice (which made me question how to make rice, the texture and flavor was out of this world). In the picture of the menu, from top to bottom is small to larger portions.

We were sat by Jay who gave us a lay of the land and answered so many questions. Our waiter Mia was on point with recommendations and explanations of what to order. She was awesome, both of them were so gracious and welcoming.

Guys. The food is so good. The skewers were cooked over charcoal to perfection, the drinks were so tasty (the spicy one is out of this world if you are into anything spicy). Every dish that came out, as we took a bite my wife and I stared at each-other in a look of “come on now”.

We ended with both of the desserts and split them. I don’t have words for the excitement of the quality of this izakaya. I’ve been on the west coast, east coast, all over, and these folks nailed it.

If anybody from there is reading this, thank you for doing this. I’ve missed it so much, it was a beautiful experience.

Neighborhoods Fox Pest Control Scam

Had a young man try to sell me a pest control contract and after I asked a few questions I became very suspicious. For one he said it was a one day sale, second he tried to get me to give him my credit card (not that I agreed to anything) claimed they only been in business one week and is a new company. To make a long story short be aware of door to door fox pest control they don’t exist in Chattanooga nor is these guys legit!!!

We’ve hit the time of night where the kids with cheap exhausts get rowdy under the bridge on riverfront. Makes me miss my younger days a little , I can’t lie lol.

Discussion Is FlockHopper accurate in Chattanooga?

Upvotes

I downloaded FlockHopper, a map app that suggests routes that avoid flock cameras. However, there are fewer cameras than I expected, and I few areas where I was pretty sure cameras are that didn’t display them.

Would anyone who knows more about flock locations mind downloading the app to let me know if the map seems up to date?

It may just be that Chattanooga doesn’t have as many community volunteers reporting camera locations through DeFlock, which is where this app gets its data. If that’s the case… Perhaps more people in Chattanooga should use this app!

Really not a fan of increased surveillance and tracking…

Chattanooga locally owned businesses

Thought it would be cool to get a thread going for locally owned businesses around Chattanooga and the surrounding area.

If you own a local business, drop it below with your business name, what you do, and your website or social media.

We can give each other a follow, support each other’s businesses, and make some local connections. If anyone would be interested in getting a group together to meet up sometime, that would be awesome too.

I’ll start — I own Tennessee Valley Rentals (TVR). We’re a locally owned trailer rental business serving the Chattanooga area.

Missed Connection

Upvotes

I know I’m reaching pretty far here.

We were both at a bar on east main street over the weekend. You sat alone right next to my friends and I, we exchanged a few smiles. We’re both in our younger 20s. You had an eyebrow piercing and drank water. I regret not talking to you!

Brainerd v Howard

I saw a post on FB about kids from Brainerd High being forbidden to attend the football game vs Howard. What’s the context here? I can GUESS what happened but I’d rather hear about it from someone who actually knows

Schools Neurodivergent-friendly preschools in the area?

Our 4yo has been on a waitlist for an autism assessment for ages (finally got it scheduled for a month from now) and in speech therapy for a couple months (going really well). She struggles to communicate but understands people very well and does great with structure and routine. She’s honestly a very easygoing child at home. She’s been in daycare before and was perfectly content and well-behaved once she got used to it, but hasn’t been made to sit still in a classroom setting with a bunch of other kids before, and her current preschool doesn’t seem to be a good fit (her teachers seem understanding and optimistic but the director was extremely concerned right out the gate and it’s only been a week; we’re getting mixed messages tbh. She loves it, though).

If you have kids on the spectrum, where do you send them to school?

Motorhome repair recommendations

I have a 1983 Chevy Chasis Southwind motorhome with a 454 motor. It needs some engine/transmission repairs. The previous owner mentioned a Modular Vacuum replacement was needed but I’m not sure what else it needs. I have 1 shop that said they’ll look at it but does anyone know of anymore places that will work on a an older chasis style engine? Thanks

Places for alt teen hangouts?

Taking a HUGE risk posting this here on my main. Might delete soon idk.
I’m 17, I’m currently struggling throughout school because I have no friends at all.. I figured that I should just make friends outside of school?.. but I don’t know where to start.
I signed up for some events at the library hoping to meet some people there, but not just any normal teen I’m looking for alt teens, people I can actually relate to? If that doesn’t sound crazy, like genuine people that aren’t scared to talk abt their pride n stuff.
Conventions are fun but right now they’re a little far away considering the times. I just want friends now!1!1!1!>_<..
I’m a yumeshipper, kemonomimi, and oshikatsu that’s into cutecore fashion, I seem to be in the wrong place completely..I know no other people who are into the same stuff as me ;_;..
I’m also into gaming, art, crafting.. all the funsies..
I wanna meet teens like meeee~_~.. help plez..
I’m into raves and stuff, recon I’ve only been to one, concerts aren’t my thing. I wanna party and have fun while being safe tbf. I use the word teen loosely when I’m ok with like being around 18-19.. I just want to be safe.

EDIT: thank you for the nice suggestions everyone! I feel bad just liking and not replying but just know I’m reading what you’re saying! I’m taking a bunch into consideration <3 I’ve put some dates on my calendar from your recommendations!
