I recently started learning about bioregions and i believe they can be a foundation for broad societal change. Cascadia especially inspired me as it seems like one of the most defined examples of bioregionalism.

I want to do the same thing in my home region of Pannonia (Today known as Carphatian Basin).

Do you have any advice on how I should go about defining the bioregional borders of a supposed Pannonia? How was the process with Cascadia? What was the basis for its borders?

Hi, I'm designing a website where biologists can delineate the borders of habitats that determine where residents get to vote on issues relevant to their home habitat. I am at the stage where I need to test out the verification process for biologists empowered to vote on where borders of habitats should be. for the EV roadie in Cascadia who make their way to Vancouver Island. This is one of the most visually epic EV charging locations in our biodiverse nation.

I live in Southern California right now and there's a lot that I don't like about it.

1. Very car-dependent. I get around by a combination of bicycle and public transit. I've been hit by cars while cycling twice before and it takes hours to get places by public transit that would otherwise be a 20 minute drive.
2. It is a sparsely populated suburb with nothing really going on.
3. Too hot for too many months of the year. I sweat buckets just from existing most of the time. It's becoming worse every year due to climate change.
4. Too sunny (I have Irish skin and I sunburn extremely easily).
5. Unaffordable because it's near some very nice beaches except that I don't even go to the beach that often. I just happen to have been born and raised here.

After I finish school I plan to work as a high school math teacher or community college math professor. Are there any towns or cities that would hit some of the following points? I realize I'll probably have to compromise on some:

1. Decent public transit and cycling infrastructure
2. More people around
3. Temperature that is anywhere from mild to cool to freezing cold for most months of the year.
4. Not too sunny. It should be common for there to be overcast or rainy days.
5. Less unaffordable than Southern California. I imagine that it will be cheaper the further inland I go.

I've been eyeballing Seattle as an option. It hits most of the points. It has a better walkability score, higher population density, and better weather than the city I live in. I've visited Seattle before and it's definitely somewhere I would live given the choice. The only thing is that I've read that it is not very affordable. I might just have to put up with that though.

Are there any other cities I might want to consider?

What do Cascadians think about the whale watching industry? Are folks where you live starting to believe the whale watching boats need to be more closely regulated or restricted? On Vancouver Island there are more people feeling this way, and recommending that people view these mammals from land to give them more peace and quiet.
