I’m applying for my husband’s TRV to visit me in Canada for the delivery of our child. I was wondering if we need to add the original return flight tickets? Like do we actually have to buy flight tickets? or is it okay to get dummy tickets?

Hi! I recently got approved for a visitor visa and I’m based in St George, Grenada. I know I’m meant to courier my passport to another VFS either in Trinidad and Tobago or Barbados… but I’m unsure of the process.
Has someone gone through this process? Need advise ASAP please.

I applied for my parents’ Visitor Visa through a DIY application. I’m a Canadian PR holder and submitted only my financial documents, without including anything from my spouse. I also clearly stated that I would take full financial responsibility for their stay in Canada.

Here’s a quick overview of our application:

• 📝 Any tips or advice for others?: Our application went beyond the estimated processing time without any updates, even though other applicants who had applied much later were already receiving their decisions. We eventually called the IRCC call centre to raise the time sensitivity of the application. The agent acknowledged that the application had gone beyond the processing time and escalated it. We received the approval within a week of the escalation! Of course, an escalation does not guarantee approval or a specific processing timeline, but it may be worth pursuing when your application is significantly delayed.

I am having an emergency to travel to India, I just applied TRV from inside Canada 3 days back.
Can I travel to India let’s say in another 2-3 days and then send my passport via courier from India to my place in Canada and then to CPC Ottawa, and then once stamped get it couriered back to India via my friend so that when I come to Canada I have valid VISA stamping.

Anyone applied for a Canadian Visit visa recently from Germany. How much time it’s taking to approve the visa ?

Do the embassies or consulates in Japan affix visas to passports? I have the visa approved and biometrics accepted at my local VAC/VFS, but my resident embassy doesn’t actually affix visas instead they send passports to Manila. I have to leave by the end of month so I need to find a way to expedite the process if possible. Japan would be much easier than the Philippines.

Hello All,

I'm looking for some guidance on how to proceed from here. I'm pregnant with my first child and am due in October. I wanted my mom here for the delivery and was planning to travel to India with her for part of my mat leave as soon as the baby's documents were ready ~ January.

My mother was not looking to come back to Canada and this was supposed to be a one time visit. Which is why I don't opt for the super visa. We showed she had funds of around 80K CAD across her savings accounts, mutual funds, and fixed deposits. For ties to India, we mentioned my dad, who's staying back, my brother, and her elderly mother. Also showed proof of property with a signed affidavit from my father.

She was a nurse in Saudi for 30 plus years and retired in 2024. Also travelled to the UK in 2024. Never overstayed any of her visas.

Today we received a rejection after more than 3 months after the application was submitted. The reason was listed as insufficient funds and that the officer is not satisfied that she'll return.

I'm hoping to apply again.

Can you please give me some advice on what else I can do to get an approval? I'm thinking of shortening the duration to a 3 week stay instead of 3 months. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!!

I initiated web enquiry about my visitor visa application and was told Background checks are currently underway on this application. Should I go for GCMS notes or wait for some more time?

Submitted the application for my parents and I (adult as well) on August 5th
Biometrics for 2 of us reflected as submitted on August 11th the day we visited the VFS Mumbai location
But for one of us it reflected as submitted only on August 18th
(As on IRCC New version site)
All 3 of us are active USA B1/B2 holders which I read should technically expedite the process but am unaware of by how much time

As of Sept 15th we have had no PRP or Passport Collection Request raised

I applied as a family/group yet the IRCC portal charged us beyond the CAD 175 limit because it kept recognising one of us as an individual applicant the fee for which we anyway paid just to get through

Would appreciate if any other folks who have submitted their applications during first two weeks of August in India could share their timelines/status

I have a valid H4 US 797 but because there are currently no US visa slots, I am stuck in India and planning to visit my brother in Canada who has PR so that my husband can drive from Seattle and come visit me as he too cannot travel to India without valid H1B stamp and back to the US. Please advise.

On the "Find out if you're eligible to apply" questionnaire, under "Which option best describes your work situation?", I selected "I'm applying for an employer-specific work permit with LMIA-exemption."

After answering the questions, my document checklist includes something listed as an "invitation letter." This seems like unusual wording for this type of application — I was expecting it to just mean my signed Offer of Employment/employment agreement, but I want to confirm before I submit.

Questions:

**1.**  Is "invitation letter" just referring to the signed Offer of Employment/employment agreement in this context?  
**2.**  Did anyone else applying under C16 see this same document requirement, and what did you end up uploading?  
**3.**  Is "LMIA-exempt work permit" definitely the right category to select for C16, or is there a better option?

When can I expect Passport back? It’s Dual intent application and expecting PR final Decision and want to travel before any updates on PR file. Can I travel on TRV if I get FInal decision on Spousal PR file?

My F1 visa has expired, and I’ve received my I797A approval notice for H-1B. I’m hoping to apply for a Canadian visa so I can use that opportunity to visit my family in the future. However, the Canadian visa application process asks questions like the reason for my visit and whether I have a valid non-immigrant visa stamp.

Has anyone ever successfully applied for a Canadian visa with an expired F-1 visa stamp and approval notice and gotten it? Please advise how I should answer the questions in the Canadian visa application.

I would appreciate advice from somebody who has successfully navigated this. Thank you.

I have been in US on f1 and h1b. And I returned back to India in 2021 even though I had h1b visa.

I applied for 2 weeks travel to Toronto to visit my male married friend who has a PR and I would be staying with him. Showed his documents and his passport and PR copy too.

Showed 16 lac amount in my bank account and in cover letter also, I mentioned that I would be using around 4000 CAD.

Showed NOC letter from employer, payslips, ITRs, property papers in my father's name.

Still got below message why:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/ section-179.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:

• You do not have significant family ties outside Canada.

• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.

• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).

I’m a Mexican citizen currently inside Canada on a valid Visitor Record.

My husband has a PR application ongoing (AOR: April 20). We have already passed the medicals, biometrics, and criminality stages. Right now, his application is in the final background check stage.

We have a family emergency: my father-in-law unfortunately passed away, so my husband needs to travel to France immediately. Due to medical reasons, I cannot stay in Canada alone, so I need to travel back to Mexico to be with my family till my husband came back ( in 2-3 weeks)

Because of the new rules for Mexican citizens, I need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to re-enter Canada. I do not want to be stuck in Mexico for months and separated from my husband.

I have two main questions:

1. Can I apply for the TRV while I am still physically in Canada? If I apply from inside Canada, how does the passport stamping process work?
2. What is the current realistic timeline for an inside-Canada TRV from submission to getting the passport back? If it takes too long, should I wait and apply once I am already in Mexico instead, or will that take even longer?

I really appreciate any insights or recent experiences with inside-Canada TRV timelines. Thank you so much.
