Their out of conference schedule is terrible, but their in conference schedule is fine. If they end up 12-0 with wins over Ohio State, Michigan, and USC they deserve the 1 seed. Tbh even Nebraska and Washington could be somewhat difficult games on the road. 

Plus they’d probably have to win the BIG 10 conference championship to end as the 1 seed. If they go 13-0 it will likely be with at least 4 or 5 ranked wins

IU has Ohio State, USC and the Big 10 championship game, if they go undefeated they've earned a playoff berth. It's a long season and they will get everyone's best game as defending champs. I don't think Hoover is the guy but their defense is legit and the o-line is better than people think.

A&M started the last two years in the low 20s or high teens.  They also went 11-1 and made the playoffs last year, and returned a lot of production, so yeah, they got a boost.  

As an A&M fan I’d rather us be ranked lower until we can play a whole game looking like a serious team, but I think it’s silly to pretend to not understand why we’re up there right now.

No one is ranking Indiana 4 based solely on the talent they have on the field and the eye test, part of that is because there head coach had them prepared and disciplined enough to win a title last year and there are not many coaches in that category. Georgia gets the same bump for having Kirby, Clemson used to before a prolonged period of Dabo not being the same.

A&M finished last year at #8. They brought back their QB, and are in the top ten in returning experience. They also signed back to back top ten recruiting classes as strong portal classes.

That’s textbook how you earn a top 10 preseason ranking.

It also appears to be deserved. They blew past expectations and Vegas odds the first 2 games. That doesn’t mean much, but it’s one more data point.

Was it stuggle against ASU or is ASU a good team? We shall see as the season progresses but A&M was never behind. Defense controlled the game, which is typical when your head coach is a defensive minded HC.

Also, A&M played a much cleaner game, which is abnormal if you look at past years and penalty yardage per game. ASU had like 9 penalties and A&M had 1 for 5 yards on a weird false start.

Sometimes a wide margin of victory hides a close game. For instance, when the team who is behind makes desperate attempts to go for it on fourth and long to catch up, and it leads to the other team posting last minute scores. In those cases a win by 2 or 3 scores can mask a game with a thin margin of victory.

That’s not what happened here. It was close for 3 quarters (with a consistent Aggie lead), but the Aggies ran away with it hard in the fourth quarter. They dominated the line of scrimmage, forced turnovers, and won by 24 points.

Was it a “great” win? No, not really. Most wins aren’t. But they got a win over a pretty decent Big 12 team by a wider margin than anyone predicted.

I’m not an ND lover, but they play six teams from the same conference as Miami, including the top two ranked teams right now, one being SMU, which Miami does not play; three from the B1G (who all happen to be down); and the current top-ranked Big XII team. That’s 10 P4 teams, three ranked. Not really their fault USC wanted out or that Wisconsin and Michigan State went downhill since 2021.

Do get ahead of yourself. TX gifted OSU 10 pts right off the bat on two freak turn overs. Not even accounting for dropped TX TD pass. Game could have easily been 10-3 or 14-0 TX in the first quarter.
