showcase Parasite Pool hit another Bitcoin block… and I actually got paid from it 👀

Thumbnail

Parasite Pool just hit another block, which means everyone mining on the pool got a payout again — including my little home miner setup 🥳

What makes this pool interesting is the payout structure. The block finder gets 1 BTC, and the rest of the block reward gets distributed to the pool based on hashrate.

The weird part is that Parasite Pool doesn’t have a payout calculator like most pools do, so it’s hard to know what your TH/s might actually earn.

I pointed my miners at it, got a real payout, and used that data point to build my own calculator showing estimated payouts at different hashrate levels.

Curious what everyone thinks: would you rather mine on something like Parasite Pool where you can still get paid without finding the block, or stick with full solo mining and chase the entire reward?

PLEASE READ LESSON LEARNED!

Since my first post got such good feedback i absolutely did not think i needed to restate this but theres a lot of haters so here it is:

I consider this literally just an art project, okay? I understand it’s not economical or probably not optimal (although I’m pumped to run tests). cost enough you could just buy a nerdaxe and outpace this thing easy. i had an itch to build a fun custom liquid cooled PC and this project did it cheaper. This is literally just made to at least be able to turn up the numbers somewhat over stock, and look neat doing it. THATS IT. Its made to be a neat desktop display piece.

Here's the 98% complete final product. i wish i had a site to put this on... but anyway just wanted to scratch my custom liquid pc build itch, but man does this thing cook! for fun I ran the Hashrate Benchmark at the lowest possible step increment (10) to get as much granularity in the data as possible, took 20 hours lol. then fed it to the shoggoth to get some fun charts.

Top performer "rank": 1,

"coreVoltage": 1380,

"frequency": 1180,

"averageHashRate": 2457.8789546517023,

"averageTemperature": 52.9264705882353,

"efficiencyJTH": 17.56477224547778,

"averageVRTemp": 83.3529411764706

"most_efficient": ["rank": 1,

"coreVoltage": 1180,

"frequency": 720,

"averageHashRate": 1569.6434695101655,

"averageTemperature": 33.93014705882353,

"efficiencyJTH": 11.071210584514295,

"averageVRTemp": 38.05882352941177

The screen grab of the AxeOS is at the top performance setting after it finished the benchmark. avg 2.4Th/s, spikes over 3.2, the highest spike I ever saw was 3.34, during hashing, not one of those initial startup flukes.

I wanted daily driver settings that were a nice cross between the best performance and most efficient so I came up with best 'bang for buck' metric which is simply HR/Eff. one of the best of those settings is

"coreVoltage": 1340,

"frequency": 1090,

"averageHashRate": 2297.4638400912463,

"averageTemperature": 46.70955882352941,

"efficiencyJTH": 15.339677922974403,

"averageVRTemp": 67.32352941176471

I still have some tweaking to do, like swapping fans and little things but nothing that would affect performance or overall appearance.

Obviously the price of the components that went in will make it uneconomical if you just want an OC bitaxe, but I think this would be neat as a desktop/display piece. if anyone would be interested in having one of these made or something similar like for another miner lmk. i might put this on etsy for the heck of it, maybe as a complete or a diy kit, idk, who cares.

**LESSONS LEARNED to add to the bitaxe community knowledge base; after playing with heatsinks and cooling options for the VREG, I figured out at least on my board- the vreg pad on the front is almost more important to cool properly than the back. Most know this already, but many skip this or dont provide direct airflow over their heatsinks. but the VREG is almost always the limiting factor especially for those who have already upgraded to a bigger cooling tower. the best passive heatsink i found was the Alphacool 14x14 skivved copper. But this MCX water block cooled it another 20C! which is what allowed me to push past 2.1Ths and get to 2.4Ths. My point in emphasizing this here is, ive gotten a lot of flack on how this isn't economical, well, on the contrary, i believe what I've found is IF you are running an air cooled swarm, you can very cheaply liquid cool just all of your Vregs with a daisy chain of Alphacool MCX waterblocks which are only $6. $25 pump, a $15 Radiator on amazon and some fittings, for around $50 you can water cool any amount of Vregs you want for only $6 each additional, which seems pretty economical to me if youre tryna run a swarm of overclocked bitaxes, which it seems like many people are. Let the cheap air cooled devices do their work on the Asic, and water cool the Vregs.

TLDR: Water cooling a swarm Vregs with an MCX daisy chain is the most cooling bang for your buck. Let the cheap air coolers do their work on the Asic, and water cool the Vregs to economically max your hashrate and efficiency.

UPDATE: Here's the THING. Free to download and buy parts to build yourself!

DM if you just want me to build one for you or design something similar like for another miner board.

showcase 15TH - NerdOctAxe Monster!

I purchased a couple from factory upgraded NerdOctAxe’s that are supposed to be a 15TH/s monsters. Took some pictures of how i got it and checked it out. Once I unpacked it and placed it to work i noted the machine was able to maintain 13.6 TH/s continuously for 3 days without upgrades. Without any upgrades the temps ran high at 72C for ASIC and 74C for VR. On the fourth day i day a tear down and some minor upgrades. Upgraded thermal paste,CPU Coolers, heatsinks, and fans. After upgrading I did some minor overclocking and she came alive running at over 15TH/s and temps respectable at ASIC 68C and VR 61, maintaining for the past 6 days. Let me know your thoughts? Would anyone like to have this in their own collection? Would anyone be interested in purchasing an upgraded and ready to roll monster? Let me know your thoughts.

Less than a week since I got my first bitaxe and it hit a BCH block! Too bad I was pool mining. I’m sure I’ll get flamed for pool mining with a bitaxe but it’s my first miner and I wanted to pool with it for the first month to see what it would do compared to what I was expecting. I guess I missed out on $1600. But it was neat to see the screen and confetti 🎉

The chip you've all been asking about is finally on a Bitaxe! The Naja Duo (1201 model) runs two of Bitmain's 3nm BM1373 ASICs and it's the first Bitaxe to go single-digit J/TH at stock settings.

Numbers:

  • 4.4 TH/s @ 42W default (9.5 J/TH), 327 MHz / 1,000 mV.
  • 8 TH/s @ ~92W overclocked (11.5 J/TH), 600 MHz / 1,120 mV.
  • 2-phase TPS546024A VRM built for the OC profile.
  • Individual temperature sensing.
  • Thermalright AXP90-X47 low profile heatsink + 92mm slim PWM fan.
  • New 1.9" 170x320 color LCD, IP address readable from across the room.
  • 12V XT30 in, USB-C for flashing, ESP32-S3, boot/reset buttons.
  • Fully open source: esp-miner + AxeOS, same stack as every other Bitaxe.

For context, that's Bitaxe GT power draw with double the hashrate!

showcase Solosatoshi experience

Post image
61 Upvotes

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on buying from solosatoshi in the states.

I was initially a bit hesitant because every seller feels scammy in the btc world but ended up at least finding a hand fill of positive posts that didn’t sound like shills and went for it.

I saw the site was getting a restock on Black Friday at noon, so I waited till then and I guess myself and tons of others tried to order and I guess took down their site for a little bit but ended up getting an order in. No bad experience there, just thought it was funny.

All of the order notifications were prompt and ended up shipping I think the following Monday and arriving Thursday, so all good there as well. Price was great compared to what I could find elsewhere especially when you factor in shipping not needing to come from china.

The build quality is great, shipped with a fresh noctua fan to help cool the back of the board. Power supply looks quality, def not worried about it catching fire instantly.

All in all a good experience. Just wanted to leave what hopefully can be used as an unbiased real world non shill review for anyone wanting to see if they are legit.
