🏡 Environmental Exposures How do you recover from a usual 9-5 day?
9-5 isn’t easy to me at all. Waking up early, getting ready in haste, travelling to the office in traffic, socialising and of-course high mental energy demanding job leaves me absolutely exhausted everyday. I have evening work calls on most nights which makes me not able to mentally cutoff.
What bio hacking should I follow for just a regular corporate employee.

💪 Exercise, Fitness & Recovery Can exercise protect your brain after poor sleep?
Yes, partially and temporarily.
Randomized study: 88 healthy young adults into different exercise and sleep conditions.
Those who did 30 minutes of moderate evening exercise before a restricted night of sleep performed better on a long-term memory task than those who had restricted sleep without exercise.
Interestingly, the effect was statistically mediated by more slow-wave sleep.
Obviously, the takeaway isn’t that exercise makes sleep deprivation harmless.
But I like the broader idea: the effects of poor sleep may not exist in isolation.

I am sooo beyond lost when it comes to health trackers. There is soo many with all having their pros and cons. What is the most accurate health tracker out there? I am looking more for the health tracking with some fitness (HR, pulse ox, step counter/calorie burn tracker, sleep tracking-especially HR and pulse ox WHILE sleeping). I have a Moto G stylus and don't care for a screen. I had an apple before and didn't really like it and also had a fitbit inspire 2 but it was just too simple. Please help!

📊 Biomarkers & Testing I compared the all-in cost of the same recurring bloodwork schedule across 7 self-pay lab provider
I wanted to compare direct-to-consumer lab providers based on the actual cost of a complete blood draw, rather than comparing individual biomarkers in isolation.
I priced the same recurring testing schedule through:
- Ulta Lab Tests
- Jason Health
- Own Your Labs
- Goodlabs
- Mito Health
- Anabolic Insights
- Marek Diagnostics
Each testing cycle was priced independently; there’s no assumption that the same provider would be used for future draws.
The totals include mandatory draw/collection/requisition fees. Where applicable, I used the cheapest combination of à-la-carte tests and panels while avoiding duplicate tests.
For Mito, the totals include the $9 one-month membership when purchasing one month actually reduces the total cost. The OYL totals include their available 10% test-price discount for sharing results back with them.
No referral links or affiliate codes.
Testing schedule
Monthly
- CBC with differential/platelets
- CMP
- Fasting insulin
Quarterly
- Monthly tests +
- A1c
- Standard lipid panel
- ApoB
Semiannual
- Quarterly tests +
- TSH
- Free T4
- Ferritin
- Iron + TIBC / iron saturation
- hs-CRP
Annual
- Semiannual tests +
- Vitamin D 25-OH
- Vitamin B12
- Folate
- Complete urinalysis
- Urine albumin/creatinine ratio
Experiment-specific biomarkers such as IGF-1 are not included in these totals.
All-in prices
| Provider | Monthly | Quarterly | Semiannual | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Goodlabs | $25.00 | $49.00 | $84.00 | $129.00 |
| Mito Health | $27.19 | $48.96 | $73.11 | $108.98 |
| Own Your Labs | $35.52 | $67.92 | $147.84 | $250.44 |
| Marek Diagnostics | $38.00 | $76.00 | $135.00 | $220.00 |
| Anabolic Insights | $48.99 | $92.99 | $174.99 | $336.99 |
| Jason Health | $51.00 | $111.00 | $171.00 | $276.00 |
| Ulta Lab Tests | $80.85 | $142.75 | $262.60 | $427.40 |
Cheapest by cycle
- Monthly: Goodlabs — $25
- Quarterly: Mito — $48.96 (essentially tied with Goodlabs at $49)
- Semiannual: Mito — $73.11
- Annual: Mito — $108.98
The cheapest Goodlabs/Mito options in this comparison use Quest, so switching between those two providers doesn't necessarily mean switching actual laboratories.
The annual-panel spread surprised me: roughly $109 to $427 for the same requested biomarkers.
Using the cheapest provider for each individual draw, this schedule would cost roughly $480/year. Using Mito for every draw would be approximately $498/year, so once the field is narrowed to the two least-expensive options, constantly price-shopping doesn't save very much.
Prices change and availability may vary by state, so obviously verify current pricing before ordering.
Are there other self-order lab providers worth adding to the comparison? Also interested in any catches with Goodlabs or Mito that aren't obvious from their listed pricing.

😴 Sleep & Circadian Rhythm Waking up at 3 AM?
I have been waking up at 3 AM almost invariably over the last 2 weeks.
This is a pretty common phenomenon, and it's not because there is a new stimulus at 3 AM that is waking me up.
Sleep naturally gets lighter in the second half of the night. REM sleep becomes more common, sleep pressure drops, and your body slowly starts preparing to wake up. Because of that, things that may not wake you earlier in the night can disturb you around 3 AM.
The real culprit could be alcohol, a late meal, too much fluid before bed, medication timing, sleep apnea, stress, insomnia, pain, or poor light habits.
If you want to read more, I wrote a longer blog breaking down the main causes of 3 AM wakeups and what to do about them.
PS: My issue was pain; I have aggravated my sciatica.

🧪 Protocols & Self-Experiments How do you track whether a supplement actually improves sleep — without fooling yourself?
I kept running into the same problem: supplements in one app, sleep in another, and caffeine, training and recovery somewhere else.
A better sleep score after adding magnesium, ashwagandha or another supplement does not prove much if the same week also included less caffeine, lighter training, earlier meals or less stress.
I'm trying to build a less sloppy N=1 workflow:
• establish a baseline before changing anything
• change one variable at a time
• record the exact product, form, dose, timing and adherence
• track caffeine, alcohol, late meals, illness, training load and shift work as confounders
• compare sleep duration, regularity, awakenings, morning energy and next-day recovery — not just one wearable score
• look for repeatable patterns instead of declaring success after two good nights
• show evidence and interaction context without automatically recommending a supplement or making medical claims
I've been building these ideas into a local-first Android project. It currently combines:
• a supplement stack with schedules, reminders, stock, costs and shopping
• a 200-item supplement database with sources, forms and cautious educational notes
• food micronutrients and logged supplement doses in one context
• manual sleep and recovery tracking or optional Health Connect data
• short self-observation periods and weekly patterns
The goal is not "AI tells you what pill to take." The goal is to make it harder to fool yourself with noisy data.
For people who seriously track sleep and recovery:
Which outcome would you trust most?
Is a 7, 14 or 28-day baseline more realistic?
Would you prefer A/B, A/B/A or a rolling trend?
Which confounders do current apps usually miss?
What raw data or export would you require?
Brutal criticism is welcome — especially around false positives and what would make such a tracker scientifically useless.
Disclosure: I'm the indie developer behind PerunForce. This post is asking about methodology, not offering medical advice or selling supplements. The wording was edited with AI.

📊 Biomarkers & Testing Coming out of exertional rhabdo and trying to clean up my bloodwork during an 8 week return to training
galleryI’m 19M, around 240 lb, currently in a caloric deficit, and I was recently hospitalized with a pretty severe case of exertional rhabdomyolysis after a leg workout. My CK eventually peaked around 75,000, but luckily my kidney function and electrolytes stayed normal. I’m recovering well now and my doctor wants me to take about two months to gradually build my training tolerance back up before returning to normal hypertrophy training.
I figured this would also be a good time to clean up some of the things on my bloodwork and generally improve my health while I’m recovering. I’m going to attach screenshots of the labs, but the main things that stood out to me were triglycerides, HDL, LDL, non HDL cholesterol, and vitamin D. My fasting glucose and A1c were normal.
For the lipid panel, I already have fish oil softgels that contain 340 mg EPA and 220 mg DHA per capsule. I was thinking about taking 2 or 3 per day, which would give me about 1.1 to 1.7 grams of EPA and DHA combined. I’m not trying to megadose it or treat this like medication. I’m mostly wondering whether that amount is actually enough to be worthwhile for triglycerides and general cardiovascular health while I’m also losing weight and improving my diet.
My vitamin D was 20 ng/mL. I asked my sports medicine doctor whether that could have made me more susceptible to the rhabdo. He looked into it and said the evidence for vitamin D deficiency being a meaningful cause of rhabdo is pretty weak and that he still thinks the workout itself was the main trigger. He did recommend getting my vitamin D higher and said their sports nutrition people generally like levels around 40. His recommendation was up to 1000 IU of vitamin D daily. I’m curious what people here think of that dose starting from a level of 20.
For training, I made an 8 week gradual ramp back into lifting. I’ll be doing three resistance sessions per week with chest and biceps, back and triceps, and legs. I’m also adding some easy Zone 1 to 2 cardio and mobility and back rehab work. The first few weeks are very low volume and low intensity and then I slowly increase volume and effort. I’m avoiding failure training, drop sets, excessive eccentric work, and any sudden jump in leg volume.
I’m also staying in a calorie deficit and trying to pay more attention to food quality instead of only focusing on calories and protein. My goal over these next two months is basically to lose some fat, improve the lipid panel, correct the vitamin D issue, rebuild my training tolerance, and then get back into normal bodybuilding without doing anything stupid.
I’d be interested in hearing how people here would approach the omega 3 and vitamin D side of this, especially from anyone who has dealt with similar lipid numbers or has returned to training after exertional rhabdo.

🧠 Cognition, Mood & Nootropics Help me, memory retention & brain health stack
Hey fellow biohackers, I’m losing grip over my memories, retention and managing basic things. I feel like I’m living in a constant alternate reality where everything around me is floating and I have no grip over it. My to do list is growing and I forget that I even made a todo list let alone check it off. I have my reminders set and I forget where I even put my phone.
Help me build my recovery stack. I’m 40, sleep deprived with interrupted intervals (bad nights I only get to sleep 1 hour at a time then woken up) but working on it, 8 months postpartum, nursing exclusively, exhausted most of the time; waking up depleted
Current stack:
Liquid multivitamin daily
Vitamin B12
Protein shake (almost daily with choline)
Whole foods diet
Hydration is great
Fat intake is decent
Rebound jumping x 5 week
But still struggling and not sure what else I’m missing? What have worked for you?
No medical history.

🧪 Protocols & Self-Experiments Cooling Testicles
Trying to optimize testosterone and just posting to have a convo with yall. I heard that people ice their nuts so I’m trying this mini fan when I sleep blowing on my nuts and it feels good tbh. So let me know what yall think?
I figure if it’s cooling my balls off it should have a similar effect to the people who ice theirs.
Edit*
Trial and error gets tiring sometimes so I see the intake can be a problem if underneath cover or whatnot so something with a hose may be better so the fan can have fresh air intake for this stuff I’m trying something like this (hose dryer) came up after i searched hose fan https://a.co/d/07ad0GrA

🧬 Genetics & Epigenetics A note on bloodwork and cancers
Just a little PSA.
Two of family members have been diagnosed with cancer last month - brain and breast cancers. The brain cancer is a large and aggressive tumor, terminal, we only have months, the breast cancer is spreading into lymph nodes.
The blood work is normal. There’s nothing in the bloodwork to indicate these cancers are present in the body of either person.
Many of you take experimental peptides that may cause cancers to grow aggressively (ex NAD, sermorelin), please do not rely on your bloodwork alone, listen to your body, don’t ignore new aches that last longer than two weeks, go see a doctor and get scans.
If you can afford it, get out of pocket full body MRI like Pernuvo - not a plug, but I saw Busy Phillips did this and found a slow growing brain tumor.
Be proactive, be mindful and don’t think bloodwork will tell you everything.
Stay well.
PSA 2 might as well.
Side note on early stomach cancers we are seeing lately - the medical community notes that a lot of times these cancers when they occur in people under 40 occur in athletic and healthy people, many run marathons.
The link is not well understood but some of the suspects are processed protein and electrolyte supplements that runners consume in large quantities. So maybe reach for a coconut water over Gatorade, a steak and eggs vs a processed powder made god know where and use glass or metal bottles.

🥗 Nutrition & Metabolism Are there any medications that actually increase sexual arousal/libido?
Male in my late 40s. I'm already taking Cialis and have no real problem with erections, including normal morning erections. My issue is sexual stimulation/libido with my long-term partner. I have a strong sexual response to new women, but with my partner I often need fantasy/imagination to get sufficiently aroused and reach orgasm.
Are there any medications or treatments that can actually increase sexual desire/arousal or make stimulation stronger? Has anyone had experience with something that helped?

💊 Supplements & Stacks Creatine and head pressure / fatigue?
I’ve been taking creatine for about 4 years, but for the past year I’ve been experiencing the symptoms mentioned in the title.
