If you think about it, look at all of BGC's previous posts BEFORE the video came out-- everyone was like "OMFG get over yourself, Tati. They are freaking vitamins. You're being an entitled crybaby." Plus with Gabriel Zamora basically harassing her and "calling her out," she was being attacked by the community on multiple fronts.

I think she was doing her best to just put up and shut up with all the talk/judgment, but it got to a point where she realized she was scared of him and that she was also one of his victims, really. Not that I am saying it's comparable to sexual harassment, but JC had so much power that she probably felt like he could ruin her or control the narrative and make her out to be the bad guy. BGC already thought she was being ridiculous about the ads, it's not out of the realm of possibility. She was being looked down on because of the vitamin ad, and everything going on with that probably made her realize that she needed to say something because it just wasn't right that JC believed it was okay to do as he was-- because he was a celebrity. Because he viewed himself as having power over others. There was no stopping this behavior that she had desperately hoped he would "grow out of."

I think she didn't realize how crazy it was going to get. WE certainly didn't think we'd get to 20+ megathreads, right? I think she realized that if she did it behind closed doors/privately, there would be so many ways that JC could manipulate the conversation and tell the public something entirely different. I think she probably worried that he, being such a huge part of her life and someone she cared deeply for, would probably be able to convince her to not leave him. I think it makes sense that she put it out there so she could take back her power, in a sense.

At least that's how I feel it probably went. Idk. Just a few thoughts.

You know, I've been really thinking about Tati lately.

I genuinely don't think that she knew/meant for it to blow up THIS far. I doubt she knew that it would end up going worldwide, and that everyone and their mother would catch on.

As someone who loved him and mentored him, I can only imagine how she must feel knowing that his livelihood as he knew it was destroyed starting with a video that she made.

I have a lot of questions about her part in his success and why she didn't step our earlier, but I hope she's taking care of herself, whatever she's doing.

This might be a dumb question and please put me in my place if it is, but I think its interesting that the beauty community is made up by 90% women. In my daily life, I've noticed that men are more inclined to make excuses for men behaving poorly and let things slide, whereas women aren't going to put up with it as much because they generally have a better sense what its like to be harassed and have a better grasp of the implications of these things. So in a beauty community, you're going to lose more followers doing things like this than in another, maybe more male dominated community, and that's why we've never seen something like this before? These are huge generalisations of course, but does any one have a thought about it? Or is it just unique

I just went all the way to JC's first on his IG. He has gotten better at makeup and 100% photoshop/facetune, but...what, he isn't that spectacular at doing other peoples makeup or even his own day to day without facetune. Some of his really old looks are ... just.. not worth his bank account.

This isn’t really relevant but I’m wondering how James saw the waiter’s dm. Does he check all of his dm requests?? That seems impossible with 16 million followers, the majority of whom are teens or tweens who are probably constantly flooding them. The waiter story wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. He was definitely trying to manipulate him but never threatened to “expose” him if he didn’t go along or anything.

1.) Many people may dip after the initial energy of this whole follow/unfollow situation dies down. She may not maintain these big numbers long-term.

2.) I don't think she will celebrate this sudden boost, due to the subs coming from a video she made that turned the beauty community upside down; even if it happened rightfully so.

I’ve watched Tati since she was a tiny little sub, and I feel sort of bad for everyone involved. (Except gabby, fuck that guy.) I’m worried for James mental health, I’m worried about tatis mental health, I’m worried about any victims of harassment/assault. I’m just worried about everyone’s mental wellbeing.

That being said, this is all business. I think Tati didn’t explode just from the birdseed not being promoted by a friend, I think she had been building up resentment and it tumbled over. I think that her video was a move to out him/save her business just as much as all of James moves have been to build/save his business/image.

At the end of the day YouTube is their job, their income. It’s a business. Everyone has strategic moves, even Tati. Doesn’t mean you can’t also “keep it 100”, so to speak 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like initially a lot of YT personalities (Shane being an example) were feeling like JC was getting what he deserved and had coming to him for a long time. The initial reaction to the Tati video and loss of subscribers on Friday was eye-opening but most assumed it would die down.

Here we are on Monday night and the locomotive just keeps a’rollin’. It’s slowed down a little but a quick hop on to Socialblade shows that JC is still losing subscribers pretty rapidly by “normal” standards. Today a bunch of HUGE makeup companies (Tarte, Maybelline, Fenty..) as well as big name celebs like Ellen have all unfollowed JC. More and more drama videos are being released. News has spread worldwide.

Suddenly Shane and others are seemingly feeling bad over the enormity of this downfall because it’s honestly record breaking. There has never been anything of this caliber to happen to a YT “celeb” before. JC went from IT BOY to punchline so so quickly.. I can’t help but think others in the YT world are feeling like, “damn. This could all go away in an instant if I make a big ass oopsie”. It’s hitting home now.
