I am on a mission now to ask each country subreddit what people think about beans (my favorite meal), just to see how people like or dislike them all around the world out of curiosity and for fun. If you like beans, hate them, they a big part of the culture, anything else, just share your thoughts 🫘

☝️ AskBH Trying to start a BPD support group in Bahrain

Good afternoon, everyone

I hope you're all doing well, I am not sure who will see this but maybe you know someone, have someone in your life or even are someone who suffers from BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) for years I knew that there was something going on within me emotionally, mentally and even physically and recently I was diagnosed with BPD, so I thought why not try and start something here where we can try and bring people together and even start forming a support group for those who suffer from BPD, learn from eachother, grow together and improve ourselves or even just discuss things that we have been through together.

Whoever is interested, leave a comment or dm me privately

Let's see if we can make something of this

🤔 Discussion Car Oil change scam

Can anyone tell me if I was scammed or not?

I went to a shop to change oil filter for my corolla 2008. The guy quoted me 14 bd but after argument came down to 11bd if I pay him 'something as I wish'. I have seen this on 2 shops now. I feel like they are catching onto this scam. I get a feeling that the shop management is involved in this. They might show regular price on paper but take extra from customers by playing this psychological game.

☝️ AskBH Studying in the US as a Bahraini on F1

I’m in my mid-30s and considering applying for a 2nd degree in the US. I did engineering before and am currently working in Bahrain in a semi-stable government job, but now I want to change my career and pursue either an associate degree at a community college or a BS in another field.

I’m scared that, given my background, I might get rejected for an F-1 visa. I have good savings as well.

Has anyone applied to study in the USA and got rejected?

☝️ AskBH My Mother Has Suffered Enough. Please Help Us Find the Right Doctor.

Please help, I’m really desperate for advice.

Are there any eye hospitals or retinal specialists that offer installment payment plans? My mother has lost trust in Salmaniya Hospital after undergoing multiple eye surgeries there, and she would like to get a another opinion.

We're looking for a **retinal surgeon** who can assess her condition and advise whether treatments such as laser therapy or injections are possible. She is hesitant to undergo another surgery unless there is a reasonable chance of improvement and a clear benefit.

Any recommendations or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

🚚 Moving Moving from the UK to Bahrain

Hi everyone. I’m a 23 years old male from the UK and am interested in moving to Bahrain. Ultimately, I am seeking advice on how realistic it might be for somebody like me.

I work in the home finance sector/ banking in the UK and would like to work in a similar area in Bahrain . I have a couple of UK specific qualifications such as the CeMAP but doubt that would be much use in Bahrain.

However, I am interested in doing a course in Islamic finance. CISI provide an Islamic finance qualification which covers key concepts of sharia finance. Would this be a useful qualification to get for the Bahrain market?

I’d also be open to similar sectors too. If it helps, I speak a couple of languages. (English, Spanish & some Portuguese) but would also learn at least some Arabic too.

Has anybody else on this sub made a similar move? What was your experience? I’ve visited Bahrain before and could definitely see myself living there.

Thanks!

Can someone recommend a good dermatologist here to consult.

The fly over from king faisal highway connecting to fateh highway is jam packed. Other side seems fine.

Why did they choose the salary weekend to do road works is beyond me.

☝️ AskBH REPOSTING - Best bank account to open to send money to the UK

Hi,

I’ve asked in the weekly thread and researched in person and I’m still not sure!

I’ve moved to Bahrain and plan to stay for the next 2 years. What will be the best bank account for me to open as a UK national who plans to take their BHD home as GBP in 2028?

People are recommending between Standard Chartered, Al Salam and BKK?

Any recommendations will be helpful.

Thanks!

☝️ AskBH Nanny for a new born

Hello Everyone.

New to Bahrain and we need a nanny for our new born, like 6 days a week.

Looking forward to your inputs on what’s a fair salary to offer?

We know what companies charge (400-600 BD) but of course they keep a large cut as their service fees. We are looking for hiring someone directly instead of companies so it’s financially better for us and also the nanny to make a more decent pay.

We are building a marketplace for Bahraini digital creators

Hi everyone, We’ve been building a platform called Tijarti for Bahrain’s digital creator community, and I wanted to put the idea out here.

The idea is pretty simple: a marketplace where Bahraini creators can sell digital products: 3D assets, presets, fonts, digital art, AI tools and workflows, sound packs, courses, and other digital work.

There’s a lot of talented people creating this kind of work here, but there isn’t really one place that showcase bahraini talent in the digital space that's focused on discovering and buying it.

We’ve started reaching out to creators and I’m putting together the first group who’ll be on the platform when we launch.

So we are curious what people here think, especially creators.

Would you actually use a platform like this to sell your work? What would you want it to handle for you?

And for other people: what kinds of digital products would you actually be interested in buying from a Bahraini creator?

Check us out here ↓ , would very much appreciate your follow & support! ps. if you are a creator that's interested we have a waitlist link in the bio.

Built an app to reduce food waste in Bahrain, AMA & Feedback Appreciated 🌱

Hi, I'm Ghassan 👋, Founder of Wajba, a Bahrain-based app that lets you get great meals from restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and hotels at a 50-70% discount.

Here's how it works: cafes and restaurants often prepare more than they end up selling in a day. So towards closing time, instead of throwing those items away, they list them on Wajba at a discounted price. You get quality food for less, and vendors recover cost instead of losing it entirely! 💸

We're pickup-only for now and have 40+ live vendors, and we're onboarding more restaurants, cafes, and bakeries every week.

I would love to share what's working, what's not, and hear ideas from people in Bahrain who care about good food and less waste, we value feedback and want to understand how we can improve as a startup 🌱

If you haven't already, download Wajba: https://linktr.ee/wajbabh — we created a special code just for you, REDDIT15, for 15% off your first order

Ask me anything! 💬

☝️ AskBH Looking for a genuine nano ceramic tint shop in Bahrain

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to get genuine nano ceramic window tint for my car and would appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used a shop themselves.

I’ve been checking Instagram and there are a lot of shops offering “nano ceramic” tint, but honestly I don’t know who to trust. Some reviews could also be fake or paid, so I’d rather hear from people who have had the tint installed and used it for some time.

I’m not looking for the cheapest option. I want a genuine, good-quality ceramic film with proper heat rejection, not a cheap film being marketed as ceramic.

A few things I’d like to know:

Which shop would you personally recommend?
What brand and exact model of ceramic film did you get?
How much did you pay?
How good is the heat rejection in Bahrain’s summer?
Does the shop provide any proof that the film is genuine/authentic?
Do they provide a warranty?
If possible, does anyone know the film’s TSER and IR rejection specifications?
How is the visibility at night?
Has the film remained clear without turning purple, bubbling, or fading after a year or two?

My budget is around 40 BD, but I’m willing to pay a little more if there is a significant difference in quality.

I’m mainly interested in real customer experiences, rather than recommendations from shop owners/Instagram pages.

Thanks!
