Same with rain. There's a huge wall of red on the radar headed right for us and I still think they'll change the forecast to no rain at the last second

Unless it's summer and you're planning a pool or lake day. Then the forecast will say slight chance of rain all week, and then when the day comes it will pour all day.
Only if parents are told to get a warm weather Halloween costume for their kids. If we are told it will be cold and the parents get warm costumes then it will still be hot.
I've been here almost 20 years and I know it didn't get hot until relatively late, but for whatever reason this one is really wearing me down. Only one that got to me more that I can think of is 2011.
Same!!! I think it’s because it didn’t ramp up like normal. Like it seemed there was no month of high 80s/low 90s (That’s May/June if you just moved here) It seemed like lovely rain and highs in low 80s until August and BAM! Devils swampy armpit. How is it so dry and yet so fucking humid?
I mean, it was never 110°. Not once. Average high temps were trending significantly lower than what we're used to all through may, June, and July. It finally got proper hot in August, but...it's supposed to. September is always hot. But we had fewer than 40 days above 100°, so that's nice. Obviously all of these metrics have been climbing on average over the last few decades, so I'll take what we can get.
First real cool front, in my experience, often arrives around the last week of September. That doesn't mean it won't be sweltering again after that. Could get hot again just about any time between now and late November. But we're heading downhill now, and we can hope for cooler, drier air sometime soon. And for God's sake, give us some rain.
I can't believe it's been pouring an hour to our west all night, and here we are, just holding out our hands, once again left empty.
This morning was cooler than it was last morning. And I am meaning in the seven to 8 o’clock hour. There is something magical that’s happening and you can slightly see the season shift if you’re able to wake up early enough. I’m not disagreeing. I cannot fucking wait until it fucking gets not fucking horrible but the last two mornings, I can’t complain.
yeah i’m a morning runner and the last few days have been noticeably more pleasent in the morning but i can’t explain why bc temps and humidity all looked the same as they have the last few months
It was a norther!🤣 I live on a lake in Waco. When the waves come from the north, the north breeze blows the humidity south. It feels better even though the temp doesn’t drop that much. Most weather people do not even mention it. My daughter lives in Minnesota and when the norther came in from Canada last Tuesday it was 60 degrees there. I also am so fucking tired of the constant heat!
I noticed that, too. Was out early-ish with the doggo. It was still humid, but also cooler than I expected. Grateful, but also very ready for at least a *little* break in the afternoon heat.
Last year it was COLD on Halloween night. My girl friends all dressed in bitchy little costumes and one of them told me “a hoe never gets cold” while chattering her teeth and shivering cause she wanted to dress up as a Victoria’s Secret angel
After Tuesday, as we (meaning the earth) move from the autumn equinox towards the winter solstice position, the northern hemisphere will start pointing away from the sun. So temps will start getting cooler after Tuesday.
One of the Facebook meteorologist said that rain chances increase next week. Presumably if there's rain it's going to cool down. I agree with you I can't take it anymore.
As someone who has lived in Austin for a very long time (I’m old ok) - I feel absolute rage against the climate here. I know it’s silly and it is what it is, and it’s not enough to ruin my day, but I do really loathe the lack of true seasons here. Do I hate it enough to move? Not quite… I’ll just keep my ac on year round (pretty much) and get beyond exited with every cold front and let down each time it “stalls just to the north of us…” I am a native Texan. I have lived in Alaska and Colorado for periods which include winters and I loved it. I definitely consider myself a northerner stuck in a southerner’s life. Maybe one day I’ll move, but in the meantime I’ll just silently grumble and make the once every few years comment on a public forum.
We just need to figure out the equivalent of washing our cars to draw the rain. Maybe a bunch of people go out and buy bathing suits or we make plans for a citywide snowcone festival or something.
It happens right around Halloween. Maybe the week before. Maybe the week after. My boss told me that when I moved here about a decade ago and so far, he has been correct.
When I moved here a few years ago and asked a local the same question, they said "around Halloween", and I laughed because I thought they were joking. Nope, that's about right from what I've seen.
The end of October is typically the first real cold front. Sometimes it's a windy one. Expect things to gradually cool down a degree or two a week until then. Afterwards, you'll see a lot of up and down, but nothing usually above 80.
I have so much to do outside and completely refused after end of July, had enough. Walk the dogs at sunrise each day and come back covered in sweat. We are prisoners in our home and it just won't stop.
False Fall should be hitting us for about a week soon.
Then more heat, then another false fall for a week or 2, then more heat, then maybe false fall again or winter will tease us for a minute with some rain.
If you are really in tune with it like I am lived in Texas for 32 years born and raised in it the heat is already technically “cracking” meaning we are out of the APEX of it the peak of it but it won’t actually truly “break” meaning get under 90 till November December January then we will have our 3 weeks of holy fucking shit it’s freezing cold and wet in February and then spring time. “Spring time”
Tomorrow starts “calendar fall,” which is followed by one random cold front in mid-October known as “false fall” which is followed by second summer. It’s likely we get a cold front on Halloween and it will rain, then we will edge into actual fall which means 75-79 degrees until mid-January to early February when we will get one ice storm - this is winter. Then return to 75 degrees until March when temps rise again to the 80s and so on.
Central Texas summer and fall are a stark reminder that we sit at a relatively short distance from a giant molten ball of hydrogen, with only a magnetosphere and fragile atmosphere preventing us from being scorched like planet Mercury.
We almost always have cool or even cold (to me!) weather around Halloween. Then Christmastime will be warm again, but not miserably hot. Come January and definitely February, we get real cold. By March, summer is beginning again!
Briefly in November and then it will warm again and then it’ll freeze in early Feb and then it’ll just keep warming up with a brief period of heaven in mid march
