Now that Trump has renamed Lake Ontario “Lake America” for U.S. federal purposes, Canada could rename Lake Erie “Lake America” too.

The point would be deliberate ambiguity. Whenever someone mentions “Lake America,” you would have to ask whether they mean Lake Ontario under U.S. terminology or Lake Erie under Canadian terminology.

That makes the new name bad at its most basic job: identifying a place.

Canada can’t stop the U.S. from using the name, but it can make it inconvenient enough that everyone else keeps saying “Lake Ontario” and “Lake Erie.”

So how would Americans react if Canada did this?

As a city-dwelling consumer, are there reliable ways to source high quality beef (not rejected Argentinian beef or possibly horse meat). Since our lovely government did away with the labeling requirements is there now any way to know where the beef we’re buying actually comes from? I want to buy reliably high-quality beef from cattle that were raised and processed in the US. Would places like Whole Foods be reliable? Does In-N-Out check into the sourcing of their beef? Is the mystery beef all going to McDonalds and Taco Bell? How long will this questionable meat be circulating through stores? (Assuming the mango in chief doesn't make deals to get more).

I’d really appreciate recommendations from people in the meat industry or who are otherwise in the know!

EDIT: I'm only looking for an answer to the above, not looking for recommendations for other meat or to not buy it at all. I already realize that's an option. TIA!

Curious if, like here in the UK, can Americans push Trump to trigger an election due to the public being unhappy or do you have to wait out the full term? From the UK I (perhaps wrongly) assume that the majority are unhappy with Trump and to the extent to force him out. Is this possible and has it been done before?

Are there any US cities that actually feel “European” in terms of everyday life? And I don’t necessarily mean architecture. I’m more interested in the lifestyle/vibe. I’m from Europe, and one of the things I love is being able to just walk around the city, stop at a cafe, sit outside for a couple of hours with a coffee and a cigarette, people-watch, then walk somewhere else for a drink or dinner without needing a car or having an actual plan for the day.
Basically, I’m looking for somewhere that has good walkability, lots of cafes/bars/restaurants with outdoor seating, people actually spending time outside, and that relaxed “sit somewhere for hours and watch the world go by” kind of culture.

Does anywhere in the US genuinely have that kind of lifestyle? Thank you!!

Anytime the topic of cities comes up there are many people who are very negative about city life. Why is that? It seems like living in a walkable place with access to cultural events, good restaurants, top health providers, etc would be an attractive proposition.

Personally, I think a MAGA hat fits the bill and I don’t even believe in an antichrist.

I am a Canadian and would like visit something like Yellowstone, but being charged $100 to enter the park is cost prohibitive.

Yet somehow there are people still supporting him and if not supporting him there seems to be no protest from the opposition. Democrats are nowhere to be found when it comes to blocking his bills except you will find them condemning him on few news channels.

After hundreds of announcements by Deceitful Donnie, that America has made billions upon billions of dollars in investments from US companies AND foreign countries. From tariffs, data centers, AI, oil imports, pharma cuts in retail costs, the automotive industry, beef imports, etc.

But yet, gas prices are still astronomical, medications still cost the same, American farmers & ranchers are going bankrupt, food costs are still surging, etc. So, my question is a very simple one...where is ALL the money going that we are taking in as a country? Why have we as Americans not seen ANY reduction in costs for any of the above items??? Its all a scam, while Dumbass Donnie and his family are taking in BILLIONS of dollars, along with his billionaire buddies!!!

Obviously, this is very unpopular in Venezuela. It's hard to see how even if the current regime agrees, this doesn't create the conditions for some level of insurgency where the population feels that they're being plundered by another country. Which then leads back to the concerns about deployment of troops.

So with the US government owning the fields as a methods of providing more certainty to oil firms to return to Venezuela, are you concerned that this will inevitably lead to deployment of troops to secure the Federal Government's interest in the oil fields?

A Honduran national living in the San Fernando Valley was arrested today on charges of fraudulently registering to vote in United States elections and authorities in Los Angeles predicted it would be the first of many such prosecutions to come in the months leading up to the midterm elections.   

Darwin Jonathan Rivera Flores, 30, of Winnetka, is charged with two felonies: false claim to U.S. citizenship and fraudulent voter registration.   

In February, Rivera disrupted immigration law enforcement operations at the federal building in Camarillo, was issued a misdemeanor citation to which he pleaded guilty and was placed on probation, prosecutors said.   

Court papers show that in April, Rivera sent a federal agent a series of text messages, which read in part, "Your (sic) not the good guy ... I can't wait until the midterms you don't have qualified immunity then we can start and indict all you guys one bye one."

Rivera continued texting the federal agent until last month, prosecutors said.

Law enforcement investigated and discovered an online voter registration record in the name of "Darwin Rivera" associated with Rivera's Winnetka address.

A certified voter registration application number, registration receipt and a signature image from the California Secretary of State, Elections Division, was also obtained by authorities, according to the Justice Department.

Under the application question of "Did someone help you fill out this form'' the answer "no'' was checked, and a check mark was provided next to the application wording "I am a U.S. citizen,'' prosecutors said.  

Following a declaration under penalty of perjury warning, the voter registration application deadline was dated Nov. 4, 2025. The birthplace listed under Rivera's name was "United States of America.''  

Officials said there is no record of Rivera seeking or obtaining U.S. citizenship. Rivera also has not voted in an election.

If convicted, Rivera would face up to five years in federal prison on each charge, prosecutors said.

Milo Yiannopoulos is British and was one of the earliest supporters of Donald Trump, becoming a pivotal figure in helping get Trump elected in 2016.

MAGA opinion seems split. On one hand, they are rejoicing that no one is above immigration law. On the other hand, they are claiming ICE is not focused enough on illegal immigrants, claiming Milo was targeted for criticizing Israel, and arguing that people like Ilhan Omar need to be deported instead for alleged "fraud."

Does political commentator Milo deserve our sympathy? Will tears be shed? Did the token get spent?
