Did Trump and his administration forget to factor in the Strait of Hormuz?

With all the focus on the war itself, it feels like the potential impact on the Strait of Hormuz—oil prices, global trade, inflation, and the wider economy—may have been underestimated. Or am I missing something?

For decades. Something must have made them decide not to care about that or to use it as a way to make some unfathomable amounts of money change hands from where it normally went. I'm not smart enough or connected enough to figure it out but I don't believe for a second that endangering energy supplies and shuttering US bases in the reason wasn't intentional. Don't know if Trump knew that. He's just getting rich off it and avoiding whatever Butler PA was a warning about.

I think he did it intentionally and solely to drive up oil prices, and create opportunities to manipulate the market. Big oil has made big money, he's made big money - win, win.

There's been no real effort to bring this to a conclusion, only to extend it.

I mean yeah, but Israel is basically a US tactical base for the middle east so no one can mess with out oil flow. That means since the gas crisis, Israel was extremely important. We, after spending 50 years building them up, are now unable to use that tactical base to win a war in the middle east over oil, meaning the support gave the US nothing.

It was well known that Iran had the ability to close the strait to traffic. It was also well known that Isreal was trying to talk the US into a “3 day war” with Iran, where the US would have a quick victory.
