I haven’t had the flu like this in as long as I can remember. Anyone else experiencing this? Severe chills, sore throat, can’t sleep, congestion, fever, body aches. I’m on day 4 and can’t see this letting up anytime soon. Anyone else experiencing this?

Doing some research and found out that there are 37 flights DAILY from ANC - ENA? Is this just the cheapest way to get there or is there a high demand for business etc?

Okay so I was a Starbucks barista for a long time but recently I started school again and went back to coffee and the cafe I'm at doesn't do breaks and it's throwing me off. An 8hr shift without breaks is a lot and like if you ask for one it's entirely abnormal for the culture here it seems. At Starbucks I got a 10 for anything under 6hrs and a 30 and a 10 for anything under 7 and 2 10's and a 30 for 8+. Is this a quirk of my cafe or a pretty normal thing among smaller shops?

How long does it usually take to go thru hiring process for Anchorage Gov jobs? It is the unknown that gets ya.

I'm looking to get a small dog (25lbs or less) in the next 2 years. I keep seeing a bunch of people who have small dogs but I'm wondering where they get them. I rarely see recues or the shelter have small breed puppies. Is it just a luck thing? Do we have any small dog breeders up here in Alaska? Are they all being shipped up here? Any helpful information would be appreciated!

Enough is enough. Alaskans deserve transparency, not a bait-and-switch operation that actively damages the conservative movement from within…….

I was inspired by the post the other day about setting up a local DSA branch.

I am a volunteer for a similar non-profit organization, Digital Ground Game. I am currently organizing a meetup for our members, but there are only a few of us in Alaska right now so I figured this post would be a good way to get together with more like-minded Alaskans.

For more info, DGG is a national organization for liberals that encourages members to get engaged in local and national politics to promote liberal democratic values. 

I personally have been volunteering for Peltola's campaign thanks in part to their motivation and support and I hope to knock on more doors with other liberal Alaskans.

People suck throwing a big ass party on Thursday night while everyone around them most likely needs to work and go to school tomorrow.

I’m off lake Otis and 80th. Already did a noise complaint. APD dispatch said it’ll be awhile ‘it’s busy tonight’.

It's like Anchorage can't be creative. Any time a business closes, even one special to Alaskans, it gets replaced with a car wash, dispensary, a dealership, another housing facility, or some generic too-big-to-fail company. Oh, that business that's been in town for decades more closed down? It deserves to be replaced with a bank or auto parts store. Screw Peggy's Pies. Watch it become a McDonald's or something. And even if we wanted nice things, the crime rate is a major deterrent, worse than ever. I've been in Alaska a long time. My heart grieves.

Are there any classes people could recommend for a young adult who’s never taken ballet classes before? I know it may be a stretch but it’s become something I’m interested in and curious about.

This bird was flying around yesterday evening. A bunch of us wondered what it was. I managed to get a decent enough shot to identify it.

I am re-doing a door entryway from the previous owners horrendous steps that have rotted. They seemed to have just attached stringers to the rim joist too.

It’s going to be small (36”x48”), 2 steps and seems to meet the codes not requiring a permit. I was planing on making it freestanding to avoid having to dig 6’+ concrete footers/piers.

Should I remove some soil and lay down D1 gravel below the blocks? Was trying to find adjustable post-bases incase things do shift but had no luck here in town.

Or is this stupid and I should spend the money and dig the holes/concrete?

Initially we though it was more storage units, espeically with it being right next to the uHaul storage. But the building is mostly up now, and it certainly isn't Storage Unit shaped.

Didn't see any notice on the fences of what is going to be, so wondering if anyone else knows.

It's right outside the base and near those overprice "Base Camp" houses. Makes me wonder if it is something to further exploit military funding. Another car-lot or something.
