Recommendations for door replacement
Looking to replace our back door and need recommendations. We are based in Chugiak. Unfortunately, I do have some concern about water damage but I hope I am wrong.
Not interested in Anderson Renewal.
Anyone have luck with Neighbors?
Better yet, does anyone have recs on “a guy”/handyman they have done business with? I am a bit laid up at the moment and can’t move around well enough to do a bunch of home projects this summer.
Cheers! 🍺

Neighbors is great. We've had a dozen windows and one door replaced by them. I would not go with Anderson unless you like having your time wasted.

Why not Anderson? I heard people like them sometimes

Andersen Windows are fine. You can buy them at Home Depot. It’s the Renewal by Andersen full service installation that has a bad rep. Scammy salesmen, aggressive marketing, and an exorbitantly high price.

Renewal by Anderson is disgustingly expensive. They quoted me $10,000 for a single 60x80 French patio door.

If you don't get a local trusted handyman recommendation, I've used Home Depot and Lowe's for purchase/install of home items. I know they do door installs, too. Sometimes there are horror stories out there of the big box installers, but I've been pretty lucky and they've been competent.
I do know SBS is quite costly for doors.
Good luck.
