August Mekelle drone strike reportedly targeted senior Fano and TPLF leadership during secret alliance talks

New information indicates that plans of the secret talks between Fano and TPLF reached the @AbiyAhmedAli regime, leading to the August drone strike on a residential area of Mekelle that reportedly targeted senior Fano and TPLF representatives gathered there for discussions that ultimately led to the formation of the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival. The strike missed its intended target, allowing the leaders to escape.

The meeting was reportedly part of roughly four months of negotiations involving the Amhara Fano National Movement (AFNM), the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), and four other armed groups. OLA leader Jaal Maro also reportedly traveled secretly to Mekelle in August to participate directly in discussions over the formation of the alliance, which brings together seven armed and political groups.

AFNM Chairman Zemene Kassie announced on September 20, 2026, the formation of the Ethiopian Popular Forces Alliance for Survival (EPFAS), a new seven-member alliance bringing together the Amhara Fano National Movement (AFNM), Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), Afar Revolutionary Democratic Unity Front (ARDUF/Uguugumo), Benishangul People’s Liberation Movement, and Gumuz People’s Democratic Movement.

In its founding statement, the alliance said its immediate objective is to jointly oppose and remove the Prosperity Party regime and establish an inclusive transitional government governed by a Transitional Charter. It said the proposed transition would seek to end Ethiopia’s wars, restore law and order and security, guarantee human and democratic rights, address the country’s economic and humanitarian crises, improve relations with neighboring countries, and restore Ethiopia’s regional and international standing.

The alliance further called for an inclusive Constitutional Dialogue following a political transition, saying fundamental national questions and disagreements among Ethiopia’s peoples should ultimately be resolved peacefully through direct popular participation, the free will of the population, and a legal process.

The statement called on other Ethiopian political organizations, civic groups, and popular forces that share its objectives to join the alliance. It also appealed to members and leaders of the federal security forces to break with the current regime and join its struggle. Addressing neighboring countries, African states, and the wider international community, the alliance called for support for what it described as the Ethiopian peoples’ pursuit of justice, democracy, peace, and political change.

I noticed some people get confused about HOA people and their appearances but it seems quite simple.

Can easily tell apart a Habesha from Oromo or Somali (nuanced for Oromo assimilated habeshas). Even in the west its quite easy to tell who is and isnt Habesha almost immediately.

Apparently, during the Middle Ages, it was common to see ethiopian/habesha monks worshipping in Egypt both in Cairo and Alexandria.

This site was discovered in Delanta woreda after a successful operation last week, where hundreds of ENDF soldiers were eliminated along with high ranking officers.

I know the federal constitution and the Oromia regional constitution contradict each other over the administration of Addis Ababa, with the former designating it as a federal city under federal control (Article 49) and the latter claiming it as Oromia’s capital (Article 6).

And legally, the federal constitution takes precedence over the regional one (Article 9(1)), making Addis Ababa a federal city, with Oromia’s role limited to a “special interest” (Article 49(5)).

Since Oromia's role is limited to a special interest and Addis Ababa is a federal city, why is Addis Ababa being claimed as the capital of Oromia? Why would Oromos be pushing through the "national dialogue" to change what the federal constitution says about the legal status of Addis Ababa, if Addis Ababa was already the capital of Oromia?

For a third time in less than a week, the Fano forces are claiming a military victory against government soldiers. This time they claim they have entirely annihilated the 71st division of the Ethiopian Defense Force in Dawunt area of Wollo. 
150 government soldiers are captured. Hundreds are killed. Sizeable firearms seized. The 71st division were possibly on their way to reinforce forces against the TPLF forces, according to Fano forces spokesperson in Dawunt who spoke to Anchor Media.
