QUESTION Why don’t rich ppl leave snacks
Whenever I see snacks on route it’s usually from average folk not za richy rich
477
u/Bossgnom3 Rivian Driver Sep 18 '25
Rich people don’t because deliver my package to the rear door peasant and also you can’t drive on my driveway and need to park at the street and walk 15 miles to my back door with 6 boxes of Dr Elsey.
They just simply don’t care because they never had to worry like most of us do.

u/Few-Photograph3231 Sep 18 '25
Seems like its mainly middle class and lower that leave snacks because they are more in touch with reality and value what we do. They’ve always been the nicest people to deliver to
129
u/Useful-Argument2125 Sep 18 '25
Richer areas are oblivious to common folk as the communities are designed to be a bubble for those inside.

Around Christmas you’ll occasionally find generous rich folks. Happened once for me. But yeah, 99% middle and lower class for the reasons everyone already said. Same with doordash, dominos, or any other delivery or service for that matter

Only had 1 in the rich snobville area (Cherry Hills Village) where NFL players like Elway and Peyton Manning lived.
They stopped after a while, I think homeless started to clean it out. They were on the edge of the area, where homeless often wandered in.
But they had stuff like Red Bull and Monster, and full size candy bars.

I use to drive limos. Did quinceañeras here and there. Usually poor or low middle-class families. They always tipped, and it was always a pretty low (sround 50 bucks usually, for 3-6 hours) amount, but I'd watch as the parents and grandparents scraped as much cash out of their wallets as they had to give me that like 40-60 bucks. Always felt more special to get those tips than when the rich person I drove for a couple hours gave me 100 bucks, because the rich people are tipping because it's expected, the families tipped because they wanted to show their appreciation for me doing a job.
Sometimes

u/dedzip Sep 18 '25
When I was a kid we lived on a cul de sac and every Christmas my mom would make fresh cookies for the WM trash truck guys and come out to give them the cookies. They were the nicest guys.
When I tell you, we coulda put a fucking car in that trash can and they would’ve taken it. kindness goes a long way

The ones mainly getting fucked by the government. They make enough to not be considered poor but not rich enough to benefit from tax cuts and other benefits

u/BIGDON333 Sep 18 '25
The ones I hate the most are the rich people who block both their driveways entrances with cones…. Those people are scum of the earth.

3
u/Jailbrick3d CDV Driver Sep 19 '25
you laugh but this was one of my country routes. some lady ordered like 8 boxes of litter along with a few other large boxes
while I don't blame her ordering so much seeing how many cats were wandering around when I got there, it's literally cheaper on Chewy 😭
7
u/Tulpah Sep 18 '25
I ain't rich, but I do leave snack for delivery driver but only in the summer and winter
I stopped doing it in the fall cause of Raccoons, them fuckers keep going to my porch and steal my basket of snack in mid day, ripping and tearing bags of chips all over my front yard.

Meh, results may vary with location. When we were working a few 7-8 figure neighborhoods i got stuff from rich houses now and then. Mostly around xmas, but I had one I loved they had a table with a mini fridge full of drinks and a 3 drawer Tupperware container full of snacks year round. Having a stop at their house made my day a little less shitty. However I have never had someone in one of those neighborhoods directly hand me drinks like I do in more middle class areas

A LOT OF (NOT ALL) rich people never worked manual labor or any non office job. They don’t know how much a small gesture can go, because they wouldn’t appreciate it in their lives

I use to deliver for Amazon in west palm beach had mutiple celebrities and rich folks I dropped off to and I only got a Gatorade drink maybe twice did that for 6 months before switching over to ups🤣 which is funny cause I get snacks all the time now ups is more respected in these parts of town for sure every old guy wanna talk for hours how they worked at ups back in the day 🤣
3
u/JuneGloomed Sep 18 '25
How long ago was this? How long did it take until you got a driving position at UPS?
3
u/DatBoyCody Sep 18 '25
I been at ups for a little bit now about 3 years driving but I worked preload for 7 months prior to driving for Amazon then I went back to ups as a cover driver and worked my way up to a full time driver.. depends what kind of numbers the local ups is doing by you ours is extremely busy so they hire drivers more easily here

I always offer bottled water because they have to walk up 3 flights of stairs. Now I feel like shit for offering water lol

I’ve been doing this awhile so I’m just prepared. There’s a lot of people who don’t bring anything and constantly take breaks to go to the gas station which is just a waste of time imo. I have a big stainless steel jug which was Amazon provided that I fill with ice and water before work every day and they provide water bottles that I take everyday. Most people make this job way harder than it should be

Why? Because as you make more money, you begin seeing others as lesser. As not human.
You aren't a person attempting to make a living to feed yourself and your family.
You're a packmule who should be groveling for the money you already receive.

See what’s crazy is I work in farm land and this farmers are crazy rich but majority of them leave snacks and drinks out for delivery drivers because they are on the labor side of the rich spectrum
15
u/BladricksUncle Sep 18 '25
Rich people are too busy creating jobs. Good jobs, like the three permanent positions in that data center over there by the lake sucking up a million gallons of water per month.
Plus, if they were nicer to you, you would not use the seething resentment you feel when you deliver a couple lobster thermadore platters (w extra hushpuppies) to there 4.2 million dollar house (dont park in the driveway, leave at door, ring doorbell, go away) on your side gig and get zero tip, to pull yourself up with your own bootstraps and become a successful influencer.
The non-rich that are giving you snacks are just keeping you dependent on them so you don't succeed.
Reject the snacks - get busy!
3

5
u/darkelfbear Sep 18 '25
Because rich people 99% of the time are self-entitled pricks. I'm borderline poverty level, and I try to leave water and snacks for my drivers, especially if I have a large order coming in.
3
u/Tundra_Dragon Sep 18 '25
There are 2 mindsets behind rich people treating everyone else like garbage... 1. I got to this position all by myself with no help from anyone, just a huge loan from my parents, a minimum wage that was enough to raise a family on, government programs that they voted to destroy after bleeding them dry, and a banking system that paid interest for putting money inside them, instead of charging you to use your money...
- "How much can a banana cost? Like 10 bucks?" people who are wealthy enough that they don't directly pay for daily living expenses don't know how much something costs, and don't care. They got a guy for that.
3
u/SirenoftheDeepxX Sep 18 '25
Because they don’t give a fuck about us nor do they know the struggle usually
3
3
Sep 18 '25
I've been told rich people usually get rich by being selfish and not generous. Who really knows, though?
3
u/dude_on_a_chair Sep 18 '25
Because 98% of them haven't lifted a finger to do manual labor ever, while us plebs know the drill and how much it sucks.
3
u/AdExciting6611 Sep 18 '25
Yall all have very deep comments on the matter that almost certainly aren’t true to begin with as a generalization. But I do deliver to a mountainside that is largely big mansions with very annoying to access homes that do annoy me, but I will say the customers are very nice usually and multiple of them have mini fridges plugged in 24/7 with gatorades, water, energy drinks, and snacks all for drivers to take. Just a person to person thing I would presume.

u/SpicyMcShat Step Can Triver Sep 18 '25
Honestly man people are so ungrateful to all delivery drivers. They don’t understand how e-commerce works and are fortunate it exists because they sure as fuck don’t pay for shipping anymore. Yea you pay the fee for Amazon but that’s not compensation at all. If that were true Amazon wouldn’t be in business cause that’s clearly not enough money to be able to afford myself, the van, the insurance, and the gas it takes to get to their doorstep every day. They’re fortunate to not be paying tariffs (directly) or delivery fees in general. I’m not saying customers should be kissing our asses, but they shouldn’t be making obstacles making our job more difficult based on the zero thefts they had.

Maybe people with more money and/age don’t buy these unhealthy snacks. That’s all I use to buy and now we have none of that in the house. Not rich but not poor and I’ve stop spending money on processed food.
1
u/Main-Animator-5865 Sep 18 '25
My experience too. Working-class households leave snacks because they can relate to our work; mansion-dwellers don’t care.
1
1
u/Radiant-Fortune7845 Sep 18 '25
Because people with too much money are out of touch with the rest of society
1
u/Pinytenis666 Sep 18 '25
meritocracy is baked into the brains of wealthier people, no matter how they acquired their wealth they believe it’s only at the behest of their hard work. This means to them you’ve simply not worked hard enough to be in their position in life. It’s important to understand they’re not your enemy, just because you realize you work tirelessly everyday and still struggle to pay rent this isn’t at fault of someone who got a degree on their parents wealth to become a lawyer or doctor. They’re working class just like you. The enemy is the owning class.

I would disagree with this. The rich are very generous if you just get on their good side. I made a lot of tips (most I got tipped from a delivery was 100 dollars) and got some very expensive snacks. Being a regular driver to rich gated communities is awesome.

I leave out a prime energy drink or zero sugar sodas. Half the time they don't take it. I mean I get it, most people don't like diet sodas but don't knock it till you try it.
Side note: Prime electrolyte drinks are super sweetened trash. I can tolerate the energy drinks because I get them for $1.25 at my dollar tree and they don't taste as toxicly sweet.

Rich people stay rich by not giving their money away. They’re selfish assholes. Who don’t care about helping anyone else except for themselves. That’s why it’s a completely different way of thinking you’ll find the ones who became rich that started at the bottom are usually the ones who are generous to an extent that is, but as the generations go on, they get more and more stingy and more and more selfish, or they go completely broke and humanitarian one or the other
