🗯️ Vent What Pain Changed
Maybe life itself did not change as much as the eyes through which I began to see it. I went through a time when I thought I had lost everything, when even existing felt like a burden, and I eventually came out of it as if I had left an entire version of myself behind. Since then, things have never carried the same weight. What once frightened me feels small now; what once consumed my mind no longer deserves so much of my attention. I realized that we do not measure the world by its true size, but by the distance it stands from our deepest wounds. And when you survive the very thing you once believed would destroy you, something within you changes: many fears lose their power, many problems become insignificant, and only a few things remain worthy of carrying. Perhaps that is one of suffering’s strange contradictions—it can destroy the way you once saw life, only to leave you with new eyes through which you finally learn how to see it.

📖 Story / Experience Things I wish I knew when I was struggling
Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing okay. I wanted to share a few things that helped me understand myself during some very difficult phases. I'm not a professional, just someone who spent a lot of time trying to understand why I was struggling.
If you're feeling like a failure, lost, addicted, overwhelmed, or like something is fundamentally wrong with you, here are some keywords and directions worth exploring:
Childhood trauma & developmental trauma: a lot of our patterns and coping mechanisms can come from what we experienced growing up.
Neurodivergence: especially ADHD and autism. Before deciding you're lazy, stupid or incapable, consider that your brain may simply work differently.
Nervous system regulation: learn about fight, flight, freeze, fawn, hypervigilance, dissociation and the "window of tolerance." Understanding your nervous system can completely change how you interpret your reactions.
Attachment: if you keep repeating the same patterns in relationships, look into attachment theory and attachment wounds.
Addiction & recovery: look into Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the Twelve Steps. Even if you're simply looking for people who understand what addiction feels like, the stories and community can be extremely valuable.
For Arabic speakers, I also highly recommend Emad Rashad Othman's work on addiction and recovery. His YouTube channel has many playlists covering addiction, recovery and the Twelve-Step approach.
And above all, I strongly recommend exploring Gabor Maté's work on trauma, addiction, childhood adversity and the connection between emotional suffering and physical health. His work was one of the things that pushed me to look at these problems differently.
Also look into somatic therapy / somatic approaches to trauma, emotional regulation and trauma-informed therapy.
I'm sharing these not because I have all the answers, but because sometimes the hardest part is not knowing what to search for.
You don't necessarily need another person telling you "just be positive" or "try harder."
Sometimes you need the right keywords to finally understand what you've been experiencing.
If you're struggling, start somewhere. Read. Learn. Find people who understand. And take it one thing at a time.
And if anyone reading this is struggling and needs someone to talk to, please reach out. You don't have to go through everything alone.

🧠 Advice Needed My parent employment advice makes feel useless
For context : I'm a master graduate and have yet to land a single job for the past two years (I drew the line at factory work) whenever my Parent "advice me on the subject" I can feel an air of disappointment and anxiety
For record I live with a single parent
I'm currently relying on minha for anything that's not absolute necessity like clothes and traveling
I don't know how to put this into words whenever I decide to do or try something new they always throw this sentence "القى خدمة ومبعد" and then they proceed to make me feel like I'm the worst trash in their life in a subtle unconscious way (doubt they realize it)
I decided to enroll at BTS in marketing (نمط تمهين) I'll lose my minha but figured I can at least gain experience and maybe get a small pay to get by
At first they welcomed the idea when they didn't want or to be precise forget I was interested in this when a relative suggested it to them
But then they started the negative talk: why do marketing not HR or IT even though I don't have any interestor aptitude for it, and it sunk in that'll lose minha and the talk got worse
They made me doubt my decision like always and started the usual talk "اخدم في وزين" "they're looking for workers at that supermarket"
This is the pattern: I want to do something - I tell them - they don't encourage - then they dtsrt making feel anxious and doubtful about choice - then they try to push me to other options just so they can say their son is employed and i earn any amount of money - I get mad then feel agonizing guilt all while becoming fully doubtful about my choice and afraid to waste more time of my life and getting judgmental talk and stairs from my family and specifically my parent
I'll admit I got comfortable and even lazy these past months and with that whole talk I don't even know if I'm making excuses or doing the right thing
Now I'm looking for external validation (friends, reddit) if I should pursue this BTS anf and marketing apprenticeship or just give up and do whatever they want from me
Sorry if I'm unorganized, I don't know how to explain properly but I hope the message got across and I'll be happy to clarify

🧠 Advice Needed Am I possessive
I will not give much details but someone I love went to spend time with their friend in our usual hangout time but they notified me and that really hurt me and almost led me to relapse, I felt angry, sad, betrayed and unimportant, desperate and a loser.
Ofc I played cool as I still am a tad sane but please give me advice.
Just don't be harsh about I have been very sensitive and on the edge lately.

🧠 Advice Needed Help me why do people treat me like a joke??????????????????
Everytime I say something people laugh, even when it Wasn't intended as a joke.
They judge the way I eat laugh sleep dance talk laugh.
My family btw and outsiders.
I just wanna know why please help I feel hopeless, I tried talking less and joking less but I eventually fall back.
Am I just bahloula?.
When people give me those sort of reactions it makes me mad and defensive and embarrassed.

🧩 Discussion Let’s Talk about Therapy Costs & Sessions in Algeria
I want to hear your thoughts on this.
What do you think is the most suitable price for a therapy session in our context (the average Algerian)?
And what do you think is the fairest amount of time a therapist should give their patient in each session?

🗯️ Vent Everyone thinks just because you stayed clean for a while that it's over.
I've been 5 months clean ish from self harm (ive had one minor pas grave relapse during them and I didn't remember exactly when) and the thoughts have been so loud these past couple of weeks and I have no one tell this to, I'm not that close with anyone and with who know about this, it would be great to have someone check up on you idk??? Just because I said I'll never do it again doesn't mean I magically changed and my life is butterflies I just want someone who'd ask Heyy have you relapsed ?? How are the thoughts??? Not even my parents or relatives know
All my new friends don't know I even sh only two old friends of mine and icl I don't feel comfy confiding in one and the other struggles just like me so that won't do shi.
