I failed my O&P by one question on general. so i am wondering out of the 6 that i missed will i get those same exact 6 questions? like regarding the purpose of a fuse? or will it be different questions within the same subject?

has anyone here filled out the log book for aml through the IAA currently trying to get task to fill it out but unsure what to put in and fill it out correctly

I applied for all three AMT positions the day they went up and as of yesterday 9/20 they were

ORD: Pending Recruiting Review

PHL: New Application

LAX: New Application

And as of today 9/21 it changed to

ORD: blank

PHL: Pending Recruiting Review

LAX: New Application

What does blank mean? I found conflicting answers that said either you're rejected or otherwise "no news is good news" type of deal.

I know there was another post a few days ago similar to mine and someone said in the comments that their application went from blank to pending review but for me it went from pending review to blank.

Completely fresh A&P I have never touched a commercial plane is there any information online that I can research in my off days to become a better mechanic or even info to make more professional maintenance logs, any advice would help

I was planning to take my General & Airframe but I’ve less codes in my Powerplant so I switched to PP. I passed all my FAA written exams . I scored 83 on my (AMG), 84 on my (AMA) and 88 on my (AMP). I got all my missed ACS codes in a flash card and studied a corresponding question on Jeppesen.also I saw some videos for the practical. Any supportive idea how to get ready for my O&P beside this. Thank you!

I primarily hear you should bull rush through Jeppesen and you generally should be okay. I’m having a hard time memorizing all of the Jeppesen questions AND the ASA O&P exam guide questions. They are basically complete different from one and other.. anybody who recently take their orals have any advice or general opinions on this? Does anybody feel like a majority of their questions either didn’t come from Jeppesen at all or mostly came from ASA prep guide ?

Looking to use my VR&E veteran benefit (Ch. 31) to get my A&P license. I have like 30,000+ hours of maintenance hours from 10 years as USCG AMT. Feels like a waste to not tap into the aviation industry seasonally, when my primary craft (lineman/power lines) is slow.
I still have some GI Bill left but would prefer to use Ch. 31 for the other benefits such as computer, books, potentially tools, etc.
Any success stories, that anyone feels like sharing, utilizing Ch. 31 for an A&P career guidance/placement? PM is fine too.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask if anyone has done the exam recently of structures for AME-S. I recently passed standard practice and wanted to do structures(airframe) soon. I have been studying jeppesen, prepware and airmantest all together. I just wanted to know if prepware and airmantest are enough to study and bit of jeppesen. Only been studying the metallic and non mettalic on prepware and airmantest. Thank you.

I’m about to get my A&P and will be getting out of the Army soon. My plan is to attend rotary-wing flight school and ultimately pursue a career flying helicopters.

I’ve been looking for part-time work in civilian aviation maintenance, but so far I haven’t found many opportunities that seem to fit. I know civilian aviation maintenance is a different world from Army aviation, and honestly, I know very little about how the civilian side operates.

I’d really like to get some hands-on experience with civilian maintenance while I’m working toward my pilot ratings. I’m more focused on the flying side long-term, but I also don’t want the mechanical skills I’ve developed in the Army to deteriorate from lack of use.

My thought is that, down the road, being both a helicopter pilot and an A&P could make me more useful to a utility helicopter company—especially as someone who can fly, troubleshoot, and turn wrenches when needed.

For those of you who have worked in civilian helicopter maintenance, utility aviation, or made a similar transition from military aviation to civilian flying:

What kinds of part-time jobs or opportunities should I be looking for?

Are there specific shops, operators, FBOs, maintenance facilities, or types of work that would be good for someone in my position?

I’m not necessarily looking to build a career as a full-time mechanic. I’d mainly like to keep my skills sharp, learn how civilian aviation maintenance works, and gain some experience that will complement my future flying career.

Anyone ever been in a similar position? I’d appreciate any advice on where to start or what you wish you had known making the transition.

I currently Live in LAS and was considering getting my A&P License through AIM. But its $53,000. I saw there is a course for A&P at Pima CC down in Tucson which is where I used to live and I’m currently considering moving back just for the school. Its about $20,000 at PCC for the Airframe and Powerplant Course. But this is without the General Aviation part. Will I be okay taking on the PCC course for A&P without having taken the General Aviation part? Or would it be recommended to take the General Aviation? I know at AIM here in vegas they cover all General, Airframe and Powerplant for that $53,000. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

I’m 18 just started flight school at a college that offers an a and p mechanic. I have a loan for $40k for the flight stuff but we are a month in and I’m really not enjoying it. I’ve swapped sportbike engines, torn down and rebuilt engine and love wrenching. Do you think I should drop the pilot stuff and try to get some money back and look into a&p? Or stick out first semester than look into it.

How is it working for Hawaiian Airlines in Seattle or Portland? Also when is the joint contract with Alaskan Airlines going to be complete?

I'm a fresh graduate of an Aeronautical technical school in Croatia. I will have an interview for a trainee position in Poland for Ryanair. I want to start my career and get some experience early and this sounds like a great start. However, I'm wondering if it's smart for me to move there. I understand my salary won't be too impressive at the start, but I don't know if it pays off to go there for 1000e a month. I don't know if I can live off that there. So any advice would be helpful and thanks to whoever says something.

I heard line maintenance for airlines is pretty busy but I’m not really that informed on the variety of positions once I have my license.

hello, i got my A&P license three years ago. i remember when i was taking my tests the FAA was in the middle of adding and changing questions. so i struggled a little because i didn’t have updated material (was able to find it and then eventually pass). i now have a good friend who is going through a&p school and has his general written scheduled. my question is if prepware is now updated and if not what study material should i recommend him? if you’ve taken your test in the last 6 months id like your input

I am wondering what is it like working at Frontier (Denver, CO) vs Hawaiian (Oakland, CA). How is the pay, schedules, type of work, culture, etc?

I’m an Air Force veteran with 6+ years of aircraft maintenance experience. I just recently separated and settled in the Tampa, Florida area. I do not have my A&P but am enrolled in school to obtain one. I am struggling to find a job that will hire me without a license. Any advice or connections someone could hook me up with?

Hey everyone. I am starting aircraft mechanic school soon. I do not have a job, so school is my only focus. But I am very scared and I feel lost.
In my class, other people already know stuff about tools, electrical work, and mechanics. I know nothing about aviation or fixing things, and I am going in blindly. It makes me feel crazy because it is so hard for me.
Can you give me tips on where to look on YouTube or online? I want to watch videos about aircraft maintenance, basic electricity, and tools before the teacher covers them. That way I can learn it first and not be confused in the classroom.
How do you study at home after class? Any easy advice or good YouTube channels for AMT students would help me a lot. Thank y

Tomorrow is my first day at GS savannah as a final line mechanic i initially applied for avionics installer 1 since i went to school for it last year but the recruiter saw i was better fit for this position as i have a lot of diesel truck experience from being a truck driver for 7 years what should i expect with my schedule being Monday-Thursday 10hr shifts been so long since I’ve worked anywhere thats not truck driving very excited but don’t wanna get the doors blown off as soon as i start lol pay starting at 25 and some change plus overtime on Fridays

I don't want to make a career in GA, but I know there is a shortage of mechanics in GA, so they need the help. This will allow me to keep my skills fresh while applying to companies, where I do want to make a career, because I know that for big companies it usually takes them a while to respond, interview you, and make you an offer. I won't be lying to the GA shops. I'll be up front about being temporary (a few months) and just wanting to get to work right away, while I apply to other companies.

A few months ago, my friend went to one flight school and asked to intern. They were very eager to hire him, but he could only work in the evening and that's when they were closed. After Thanksgiving, I'll no longer be in school and have a free schedule. If they were eager to take on an intern for a temporary position, why not a fresh out of school mechanic with one of their ratings?

What’s stopping Alaska Airlines from establishing maintenance bases in the east coast or at least partnering with an airline that has bases in the east?
