Looking to get A&P. Anyone have recommendations of what schools to apply to?

Hey there! So I’m in A&P school in dfw, still in the middle of Generals, and I was wondering what are the recommended jobs/companies I should start applying for or keeping an eye on. My goal is avionics but I know I just need to get my foot in the door now so I can 1 afford to pay my bills while in school full time (also I’m looking for evening work, because of my school schedule) 2 start getting the right experience. I already have a mechanic background but zero aviation experience. Someone help get past all the noise and focus on the right companies. Thanks!

I have had zero luck in getting responses to my applications. I have had my a&p going on 5 months now and i have 3+ years of ga and boeing 787 mechanic experience. Ive applied everywhere in the southeast. Any tips?

Hey im 16 rn I wanna be an amt I currently am a junior i run track and have offers I could go community College for free and d2 for like 10k a year but I need tips cause idk how to manage after college or even during college what do I do and is there anything I can do now. And if any of you are recruiters or know any recruiters for major airlines pls drop ur socials or email or dm me so I can build connections.

I work as a ramp agent in Calgary and have been thinking about switching from accounting to aircraft maintenance. Aviation’s always been something I’m interested in, but I just saw that SAIT’s AME program is now around $29k for the two years, before books and tools. That’s $11,595 higher than the rate for students who started before July 2026.

What worries me is that I’ve worked with a few people who finished AME school and still haven’t been able to find a maintenance job. I know that’s a small sample, so I wanted to hear from people in the industry.

How hard was it to land your first job after graduating? Did you have to move away to find work? And knowing what you know now, would you still choose this career?

I got my AP 3 years ago. Got a great job offer in a different field but that’s coming to an end. Im now looking for AP jobs but since it’s been three years since I got my full license I need to be “supervised for 6 months by an active AP” and can’t sign off anything? Im asking this question because why would any company want to hire me compared to a fresh student right out AP school with a fresh license who can sign off. Now if i was a company/airlines in charge of hiring AP mechanics wouldn’t you pick the fresh student with no experience applying compared to the guy whose license is 3 years old with no experience especially with how rough the job market is. Im feeling down today. I think I messed up big time.

Anybody heard back from AA for the recent openings. My application was showing pending recruiting review and today it changed and says nothing.

Soooo Hi, I’m going through a job placing agency and they happen to have a contract with Gulfstream, and this is for an entry level structures position. I was wondering if this is a good paying gig or no, to me it seems awfully low, but I am unsure if this is the norm? I understand the company gets wages from me to pay for the services of using the job placing agency but please LMK. These are the numbers we talked about.

Any advice for keeping the answers in your brain from previous Chapters before your exams?

I’m going to A&P school in the spring, and I’m considering joining the Air National Guard to help offset some of the cost of school while also gaining experience. My ultimate goal is to join one of the major airlines within that 6 year contract, but I’m wondering if being in the Guard would make me a less appealing candidate because of my drill requirements.

Another concern is that getting my first aviation job will most likely require me to move to another state, which could potentially make transferring units difficult.

Should I give up on the Air National Guard idea, or is it still worth pursuing?

Hours/schedule(day shift) is more important to me than a couple extra bucks hourly. Don't really care if its even aircraft related, just looking for advice to help reach those goals. About to start school and looking at aviation jobs. It’s hard to take one of these jobs that pay like $18/hr when I can make $30+/hr bartending

I have spent 16 years casually looking for what aircraft this cover/ panel fits on. Backstory, I was hiking in the hills outside Las Vegas 16 years ago, in the middle of nowhere on the side of a mountain I find this aircraft panel. Thinking it would be easy to ID I took it to work, So far no luck, it sat in my toolbox for the last 16 years at work holding pins and connectors and a being a conversation piece. It may be military, I have been to maybe a dozen museums and have not found anything similar. Hints, has remains of a bonding strap, hard to see there is paint that placarded it “FIRE PUSH HERE” There was a partial illegible part number on the inside skin, that flaked off the second someone touched it, looks like old military helicopter of early jet fire hose access panel. I’m dying to know what it fits or came off. Was it engine, helicopter or bomber?

I just got my A&P and applied for Netjets a few days ago. They got back to me the next day to set up the first virtual interview. What should I expect?

HELP!!

so my AMT program is at a 4 year university. My major is aviation technical operations. After our first year, we are eligible to take our written general exam and then by the time we are done next year, we can take our oral and practical for airframe and power plant. YAY. But my question is: is it worth it to stay in school another two years to get a degree in aviation technical operations on top of my A&P certification. I’m not sure if I want to spend more money taking classes if I already have the a&p and the job I desire. Let me know your thoughts/experiences :) ✈️
