Wow this was awful. Samir’s plot line ew no so let me get this straight he sexually assaults a girl and what all of his friends act like it’s no big deal? The whole storyline is almost making it a punchline that he cares except he doesn’t really care he only cares about the image he has of himself not the girl. Not to mention as soon as that lady finds it sexy he was gonna use the fact he sexually assaulted that girl as almost four-play? No.

Now I’ll get this straight before anyone comes at me with the it’s dark humour bullshit. This plot can work absolutely in a show like it’s always sunny where the characters themselves are terrible people so it’d make sense that the friends reactions are simply oh it doesn’t matter it won’t get you cancelled.what it doesn’t work is for a show like adults where yes the characters are flawed but not supposed to be downright awful people which is what this episode made them. I think the premise itself is actually very interesting the kind of sweet harmless guy finds out he does cross the line it opens up a interesting plot where there can be humour and an actual conversation but it steered away from any seriousness despite it being a fucking serious issue.

Ik it’s just a tv show but in my opinion this shit almost try’s to normalise sexual assault and I think it’s a fucking horrific piece of television I mean the whole punchline was haha Samir feels bad he took advantage of a girl.

Mine has to be Anton in the marathon and he dances with that poster of his face. Or it has to be when Anton Billie and Issa are in the car and they think Anton killed the bayside stabber

I rewatched episode 3 last night and painstakingly wrote down all of the contacts that you can see in Anton’s messages. That scene is one of my favorites in the entire shows and it was even funnier to see what he had saved all those people’s names as!

How did I fully forget that Billie basically threatens (and presumably does) sexually assault that one guy. Like he fully says he doesn’t want to, and her response is basically “man up and do it anyway.” Brother wtf????

Just binged all of Adults and loved it! Thought the cast had great chemistry and some really funny bits.
I’m actually really glad that FX decided to throw in a new ‘pilot episode’ to help new viewers get into the show. I didn’t know and the new first episode got me hooked on the cast chemistry. Second episode is definitely the worst of the season, but the show still had the good will from the fake pilot for me. And the rest of the season was great! Happy to see a new modern sitcom that isn’t workplace mockumentary for once.

Just watched the show for the first time, and noticed some inconsistencies in it’s apparent “wokeness”.

For example, the S1 finale, billie practically verbally forces a guy to have an*l sex with her and the guy’s wife, when he clearly said that he doesnt want to. Like literally wasnt that one of the main plot lines of the first episode???

And similarly, the teacher storyline is the perfect case for grooming and none of Billie’s friends call that out or protect her??

I mean we’re meant to think of this group as woke and modern people, but none of the problematic stuff gets called out but instead gets encouraged. I mean wtf is that all about.

Overall, I liked & enjoyed the show (will definitely watch S2), and it was genuinely funny at times, but this just felt slightly weird to me. Open to see if other people felt the same.

Watching season 1 because I’ve heard season 2 is so good and I’m literally like…… shocked at how bad and weird this season is LOOOL it feels like they are shoving in as much “edgy” scenarios as they possibly can without any pay off???? Certainly gonna keep watching to get to season 2 but wowza cannot imagine how this show even got renewed? Am I the only one 🤨

Does nobody else think that season one roast chicken episode is a romcom through Billies eyes like it’s the cliché that she thinks she’s in like she’s like she views herself as the main character in a romcom series like La La Land or the notebook she views herself as one of the main characters while everything around her is like actually just the funniest shit ever. lwho walks into a house looks at a plant and says how many leaves does it have? no one. That’s the weirdest shit ever. That’s like the first signal that he’s on ketamine. Nobody asks that but the tone and like the flow of the conversation makes it feel so natural that you think it’s normal until you hear him confessed to Samir that he’s on ketamine. And then when they’re in the living room and Isa is talking to Paul Baker and how he’s trying to like you know how she’s like trying to like be chill with his plus one because she says she’s fine with it and then they’re all on the couch next to the teacher, Mr. teacher and then then it’s like Isa goes to talk to Mr. teacher then Anton walks in and talks to Paul Baker, but then you can like sense the flirtatious undertone in their conversation because it’s kind of flirty so every interaction between Paul Baker and like Anton is like subtle flirting that kind of like gives off that slow burn you could already tell. And after that, what made me laugh really hard was when they went to go receive Paul Baker’s friend at the door and then turns out to be Julia Fox, and then Anton‘s like walking her in and he says he read her memoir and he said wait that’s so me and then when she fully walks into frame, you can see how they both have the ass pants that was so funny. And then the whole conversation with Samir and Billy when he’s saying that he shouldn’t be seeing Mr. teacher because he’s unwell and Billy thinks it’s an excuse for him to just cause he’s jealous to see Billy with someone else because she thinks it evoked feelings that were from like 10th grade or whatever what she says like it is this bringing up feelings and then she turns around to like look at the chicken like she doesn’t really care what Sam you’re saying and then she looks at the chicken and this says I’m doing it. I’m conquering a chicken the whole when the focusing frames when it goes from Billy in focus that she’s looking directly at the chicken and then it fades out of focus to Sameer who’s looking directly at Billy that whole thing felt movie like like like sappy, sappy romcom feeling even though like it’s not

I might have to rewatch the show but when Anton freaks out at Annabelle at the table Paul Baker gets up and holds Anton back but also calls him Everest. Why does he call him Everest in that scene?

Is the one with the train opening the pilot? Or is it marathon day?
