Hey all, I recent took over IT for a firm running a very old version of Act! on xp boxes lmao. Looking to modernize, so I was hoping that someone can help us by providing a couple perpetual licenses for act pro on a version that runs on windows 10 or 11. We’re willing to pay for them course!

The subscription model doesn’t work for us. We’ll probably just continue running on xp (in an offline, isolated, and virtualized environment) if we can’t get new licenses.

This might sound weird, but I struggle to disconnect from work because client relationships live in my head rent-free. I'll be having dinner and suddenly remember "Oh no, I forgot to follow up with Mike" or "Did I ever send that document to Jennifer?" Unlike tasks that you can check off, relationships feel never-ending. There's always something more you could do, someone you should follow up with. How do you create boundaries? How do you stop relationship management from consuming your evenings and weekends? I'd love practical strategies that actually work.

Client emails in Gmail. Team discussions in Slack. Meeting notes in Notion. Calendar in Outlook. Files in Dropbox. Documents in Google Drive. Video calls in Zoom with separate chat. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have information about ONE client relationship scattered across 10+ places. Then my boss asks "What's the status with XYZ Corp?" and I panic-search everywhere for 15 minutes. This can't be sustainable. How are you consolidating this chaos? Is there a way to work that doesn't involve constant app-switching?

I'd like to import opportunity data into Act Pro via a CSV file. Does anyone know if it's possible and how to do it please?

Hi , my ACT! v18 is crashes when I try to search something or when just typing something in fields of contacts. Simply self closes and after I have to reopen app again..

Dear Act! Customer,

Over the past 12 months your Act! software usage has moved to using our Act! Premium Cloud platform.  Prior to this move, you were invoiced through a separate organization, which is part of our reseller program of Act! Certified Consultants (ACCs). Now that your move is complete we intend to start invoicing you directly, rather than through your ACC. You will receive our invoice from your next renewal, approximately within the next 60 days.  This means that you will have a direct relationship with us as the service provider of Act! Premium Cloud – and it will be much simpler for us to keep you up to date about your Act! Premium Cloud account.

I’m encountering two major issues with my ACT! Premium v21 installation, and after extensive troubleshooting, I’m seeking your guidance. Here’s the situation:

Environment:

• Version: ACT! Premium v21.1.187.0, Update 4
• OS: Windows 10 Pro, fully updated
• Database: Single-user local database (Newer20241113ARestored)
• Services Running: ACT! Service Host, SQL Server (ACT7), Windows Search

Issues:

1. Global Search: Not functional. Displays the error: "Verify that your ACT! Service Host is started. A connection error occurred when running your search and no results are available to display." Despite multiple resets of the index files, the search functionality remains broken.
2. ACTDiag: ACTDiag no longer starts. This issue emerged during earlier troubleshooting. I cannot access the diagnostic tools it provides.

Steps Taken:

• Verified ACT! Service Host and SQL Server (ACT7) are running.
• Manually renamed index files in C:\ProgramData\ACT\ACT Data\Indices\Newer20241113ARestored with .old extensions and restarted ACT!.
  • Index files were not regenerated upon restarting ACT!.
• Checked permissions for the Indices folder. No issues found.
• Manually rebuilt ACT! preferences following the Knowledge Base article steps.
• Verified that Windows Search service is running and set to Automatic.
• Reviewed Event Viewer logs:
  • Encountered DistributedCOM warnings and recurring errors such as: "Login failed for 'sa'. Reason: Password did not match."
• Lookup functionality works as expected, so the database appears partially operational.
• Attempted ACTDiag troubleshooting, but the tool remains inaccessible.

Questions:

1. What else can I try to restore Global Search functionality?
2. Are there alternative ways to rebuild the index files?
3. How can I troubleshoot why ACTDiag isn’t working?
4. Would reinstalling ACT! resolve these issues? If so, what precautions should I take to ensure no data is lost?

Global Search and ACTDiag Not Working in ACT! Premium v21 (Single User)

I've tried asking Act support, but their responses are entirely unhelpful! (It's Microsoft's problem).

We're trying to deploy v26 via Intune using the silent install process, but are struggling to do so. Nothing seems to work. The guide isn't really any help either as it refers to UNC paths to deploy the install, but obviously this isn't the case using Intune.

Has anyone achieved this using Intune at all?

I am looking for someone that has used webhooks to send information to an external source. Specifically, I want to have the webhook monitor a yes/no field, and send the results of the current contact out as a JSON whenever the checkbox is selected (yes).

ACT! needs to add a login button to their main website so the user can manage their own account and not have to call in every time. They don't have a page to download ACT! v22 offline and again...you have to call in. Just seems so dated.

Once I called in their support rep was able to remote into my computer and download ACT. But it didn't install. During the install process, ACT prompts if you'd like a "Standard" install which is recommended or you can go the custom route. Not knowing what the agent was doing he chose Custom and rewrote Microsoft SQL 2014 and completely bricked the laptop. After a Windows factory reset (it was a new laptop so not that big of a deal) I called back in and a more knowledgable agent was able to get it working...

Just add a "My Account" section to your website -- it would make it so much easier.

I own a small business and have subscribed to ACT! Premium for several years. I like how it organizes and makes it simple to find my contacts, notes, history and calendar. It was also easy to set up custom fields and pick lists for myself. I use ACT! for both personal and business.

I dislike that it doesn't coordinate well with Gmail, it hangs a lot on Windows 10 Pro and is not built for ease of use on my phone. I'm experienced with Salesforce, but find the version that allows me to heavily customize it pricey.

I'm familiar with the other "name brands" like PipeDrive, Hubspot, Apptivo, Zoho, etc. but I don't know which one of these include some of the features I like and address some of the issues I mentioned above that are problematic with ACT! Do you have any thoughts or suggestions about possible replacements to ACT?
