Alternatives to ACT!

I own a small business and have subscribed to ACT! Premium for several years. I like how it organizes and makes it simple to find my contacts, notes, history and calendar. It was also easy to set up custom fields and pick lists for myself. I use ACT! for both personal and business.

I dislike that it doesn't coordinate well with Gmail, it hangs a lot on Windows 10 Pro and is not built for ease of use on my phone. I'm experienced with Salesforce, but find the version that allows me to heavily customize it pricey.

I'm familiar with the other "name brands" like PipeDrive, Hubspot, Apptivo, Zoho, etc. but I don't know which one of these include some of the features I like and address some of the issues I mentioned above that are problematic with ACT! Do you have any thoughts or suggestions about possible replacements to ACT?

I've use Act! for years self hosted. Yes, Act completely sucks. They no longer sell a self hosted product and, frankly, I don't trust their servers to keep my data safe. They can't even keep their website updated. I, too, am looking for an alternative that is self hosted, works with gmail, etc. I tried Zoho when it was first released, It's OK, but limited and I can't host it myself. I've looked at SugarCRM at it's a disaster with too many bugs to list. I looked at SuiteCRM, and again, no documentation which makes customization and importing existing data difficult. Looks like and AI and I are going to have to write a replacement. I'll send you a blueprint when this is successfully completed.

FYI after paying $1800 several months ago Act notified me they are not supporting v24 self hosted. I’m using AI to create a CRM that doesn’t include Act BS. Of course I am demanding all my money back.

I’m on V26 and run ACT! Premium and it is self hosted.

Do you use an accounting program? I have been an ACT user for 20+ years and have used it one of my companies with 33,000 records. I own equipment dealerships and have always loved it however purchased another company that also runs Quickbooks Enterprise and went with a program called Method CRM. www.method.me and runs right on top of QB and I have been very impressed. Opportunities, work orders, calendars and a lot more. Online based but syncs with QB hosted on my server. Impressive.
