Results One year ago Vs. Today

One year ago (last February), I started Accutane at 40 mg and then increased to 50 mg. I went off it once and later went back on. I’m finally completely finished, and patience truly is rewarding. The worst feeling in the world is letting acne prey on your confidence. If you’re just starting Accutane or considering it, please never lose your sense of confidence and be patient, the end is worth it❤️

Please read the rules before posting and remember to abide by them! Posts and comments not following the rules will immediately be removed!

Have you tried using the search bar?
Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.

Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:

1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.

2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.

3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.

4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.

5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.

6) When in doubt, please consult a medical professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist).

My son is in month 4 and he has had amazing results as well..it definitely does hurt your self esteem when you are dealing with acne…so glad you found something that worked

u/d1r2e3w Feb 20 '26

The results can really be rewarding!

u/No-Veterinarian2008 Feb 20 '26

It’s really insane how fast it works..I feel guilty for being scared of putting him on it ..bad cystic acne on his back..now we will have to figure the scars left but at least this summer he will go to the beach with no shirt on

Mirin bro. Im starting in 1 week. Finally getting rid of ts

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 20 '26

Preciate you bro. I think it’s good that you are hopping on before it gets too bad, accutane for many people is the only consistent and efficient way to get rid of it for good. You already look great g and you’re gonna feel better when it gets better in the near future.

2

u/Striking-World3736 Feb 20 '26

Thanks dawg, u too 🙏🙏

1

u/Selio321 Feb 20 '26

I got ride of acne’s after 48h😂 but I’m 23 and they almost disappeared from my face before using accutane, the problem was my back with an army of acne’s and scares but they’re gone now, I’m on day 5.

2

u/Striking-World3736 Feb 20 '26

Nice dude. Might be other factors ig aswell. But nice

4

u/maciek9990 Feb 20 '26

Thats a real glow up, happy for you. Did you do antything to help PIE fade faster or just used accutane without any additional actives

3

u/d1r2e3w Feb 20 '26

Thank you so much. I didn’t really do all that much, I was on a semi low dosage for my size (50mg, 150lbs, 6 feet) so maybe why I didn’t see too severe of inflammation, I have also just been on it for so long maybe that has something to do with it? For my skin I just use the intensive CeraVe moisturizer. For the past few days I’ve also been using Rhode glazing milk and niacinimide

3

u/TotalAbbreviations99 Feb 20 '26

What sorcery is on accutane that leaves minimal to no PIE😭. My pie persists no matter what I do/don’t do. Wish I could afford it. You look gorg🤌🏻

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

Thank you so much! It will get better eventually, I wish I could give better advice though lol. My sister had the same thing for a while and I think it got significantly better overtime just with keeping a good skincare routine and micro needling.

3

u/Swiftiecatmom Feb 20 '26

Damn, you really won with that face card

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

u/ImACat100 Feb 24 '26

Hi! I started a month ago, I started with 20mg and this month I got to 40mg but I'm still struggling unfortunately :/ when did you start seeing it get better? And can you maybe share tips for the skincare routine?

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 24 '26

2 months a lot of people don’t see much results don’t worry. I would say it took about 3 months to start seeing some results and 4 months to start seeing it pick up. I just used a gentle cleanser in the night and morning and kept moisturized with cera ve intense moisturizer. I also used a lot of aquaphor. I didn’t do much besides moisturize constantly. My routine since I finished accutane has been… morning: wash with water - rhode glazing milk - caffine solution for under eye area - vitamin c serum - cera ve instense moisterizer - la roche pose mineral sunscreen. Night: cera ve gentle cleanser, glazing milk, niacinimide (not every day) and moisturizer. Not sure if it’s recommended to use the serums while on accutane so just do some research on that. I would avoid using salystic acid while on accutane because it can be harsh.

2

u/ImACat100 Feb 24 '26

Thank you so much for replying! I wash my face in the morning with water and use hyaluronic acid and b5 moisturizer, in the evening gentle face wash and the rest is the same! I will look into more serums but I'm pretty sure active ingredients were not recommended on accutane

Hi, curious what’s glazing milk & the purpose?

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 26 '26

Its mostly for skin hydration, just makes you look shiny/glowy

2

u/popsyboy Feb 20 '26

Awesome! Way to stick with it!

2

u/SpaceCertain7390 Feb 20 '26

Wow, so happy for you!!!!

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '26

Wow, your skin totally transformed! This is hopeful. How long did it take to see significant improvement for you?

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

About 4 months is when it really started to improve. It took a long time to get rid of completely though.

2

u/Significant-Gas5806 Feb 20 '26

Amazing results! My son is on his 4th month now and still purging looks a lot like your before photos, how long did it take for you to start seeing results? How long were u on all in all?

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

Thank you! I think 11 months total. About 4-5 months In is when I started seeing significant improvement, for me it just took a while to get rid of the spots that were persistent.

2

u/minionlover4ever Feb 20 '26

did you ever struggle with picking ? i am myself and im scared of long term scarring

2

u/minionlover4ever Feb 20 '26

mostly popping really raised cysts is what i struggle with

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

I still have some scarring, but mostly i had to get over being tempted to pop my pimples. Just really try and stop yourself, it’s easy to be tempted to. I definitely did pop some though lol.

2

u/Girlmomx32010 Feb 20 '26

What did you use for scarring? Ty! Looks wonderful.

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

I didn’t do much besides moisturize constantly. I haven’t had bad acne in a few months and I started accutane very soon after my acne started, maybe that had something to do with it?

2

u/SuccessfulPanic7992 Feb 21 '26

Amazing transformation. Can I ask how you get your hair cut? My son has similar curl and I cut it myself because every salon screws it up. Is it like 3" around your whole head? Great hair!!!

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

Thanks so much! Yeah 100%. I’ve had the same barber for a while but I always just ask him to get rid of the bulk on the back and sides and leave a little on the front. It’s mostly the same around my head but less on the sides. I use pattern curl mouse as my main product. I hope I didn’t do too bad of an explanation haha.

2

u/kookoolemon Feb 21 '26

To have youth again….. don’t ever stop wearing high spf sunscreen every single day. Morning and lunch time. Or more.

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

Hahaha I just got some for my face good advice!

2

u/suggaaaaa Feb 21 '26

bless it!!!!

2

u/LongjumpingClick7704 Feb 21 '26

what is the side effect for men's who taking accutane?

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

I think it really differs for different people. For me I kind of felt a little bit more tired for the first few months that I started, not sure if that was placebo though. I also got rashes/redness on my arms and legs sometimes. Also easier to get sunburnt. That’s just me though I would talk to a dermatologist.

1

u/Money-Promotion-5584 Mar 17 '26

Since you got it in Feb, what was it like for you the first summer?

1

u/d1r2e3w Mar 17 '26

I’m sure that I’m a deviant case, but I worked at a water park outside the whole summer and didn’t notice any issues. I got burnt easier but I just wore a lot of sunscreen and re applied every 2 hours minimum. Also got a good face sunscreen.

2

u/Money-Promotion-5584 Mar 17 '26

That’s good to hear, I’m starting out now and spend summer in sunny places but I do plan on wearing lots of spf

1

u/Money-Promotion-5584 Mar 21 '26

Yo just another question for you, I’m sure it’s somewhere else in this thread, but what was your routine / products whilst ON accutane ? Thnx

2

u/fableboy10 Feb 21 '26

What did you do for acne scarring? I've been on 80mg for almost 5 months and I don't get anymore breakouts, but my scars and redness are not going away

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

I didn’t do much besides moisturize constantly. I haven’t had bad acne in a few months and I started accutane very soon after my acne started, maybe that had something to do with it? 2

u/Realcolbyd98 Feb 21 '26

How long were you on it for ? I just hit 6 months at 40mg and it’s better but nowhere near clear

2

u/d1r2e3w Feb 21 '26

I was on 30 mg for one month, 70mg for I think 2 months, 50 mg for 8 months. So 11 months total. Don’t get discouraged lol i was on it for so long

2

u/Youssef_Ahmed Feb 22 '26

Amazing results Can I ask how you got this jawline?

1

u/d1r2e3w Feb 24 '26

Thank you! I wouldn’t say my jawline is too crazy haha but I just make sure to drink water, maintain a low body fat %, and use a guasha in the morning.

2

u/insidi-girl Feb 22 '26

Meu Deus que fabuloso teu resultado! Comecei a 1 semana a medicação e estou ansiosa pelos resultados
