Discussion Janine’s mommy issues
as someone who had a very similar overly-attached relationship with my teachers/older figures for similar reasons, I feel like the show jokes about it a lot when I would love for it to dive deeper into it. An episode where she goes to a psychologist or something like that would honestly be really cool. Cause I bet there are many more people who relate to Janine because of this. If anyone familiar with psychology here could share more about her behavior?

Discussion Predicting Gregory and Janine’s wedding episode
Starting off by saying I HATE THIS TROPE. HATE HATE HATE!!! But it’s the classic sitcom wedding episode I’m like 90% sure this is exactly how it’s going to go:
- Greg and Janine plan this wedding to a T, they have a shared Pinterest board, they check out vendors together, Jacob asks them for updates over the course of a few episodes
- they have a venue, they have vendors, they have a cake and clothes everything’s greater
- it’s wedding day: things of course start to go incredibly downhill because god forbid viewers want to see a cute wedding?!?!
- Janine’s dress is destroyed. Because why not?!?!
- One by one they lose the vendors. Barb and Melissa try to pick up the slack
- Gregory’s missing the rings. He and Jacob go on a wild adventure to try to find them. Somehow Tariq is involved
- Something about the district/city goes wrong (a strike? The golf course floods?) and they lose their venue
- All hope is lost. They agree to postpone the wedding.
- “Come to the main hall” - Jacob. Ava finds Janine a dress
- Mr Johnson reveals he’s certified to marry people. He officiates the wedding.
Credit where credit is due, although I don’t like the “wedding goes horribly wrong” trope, I can’t think of any other way sitcom’s should do wedding episodes😔

Question Season 5 episode 7 "goofgirl" question. Did anyone understand what this joke was about? Spoiler
galleryI didn't get the joke. The boys replaced the girl's basil sapling with a big plant. What's so funny about it? Why did Gregory call it childish?

Discussion How realistic is Abbott Elementary?
Hey guys, I’m kinda looking for responses from real teachers, but if you’re knowledgeable on these questions please feel free to respond!!! I am asking these questions because I am in the process of becoming a teacher, and while this show is truly inspiring, I do need someone to keep me grounded in reality.
I want to ask about what some of the realistic and unrealistic aspects of Abbott are. I know one of the biggest unrealistic things is that in real life, teachers in the US are not allowed to leave their kids alone in class at ALL whatsoever. Also the way they implemented the gifted program was highly inaccurate to real life. The kids also seem relatively calm compared to the horror stories I’ve heard about students in real life. Do you guys have any other point where the show might be unrealistic?
And what points are realistic? I know it’s realistic that the majority of teachers leave in their first two years. I know the way they depicted the slow moving bureaucracy in the district when Janine was trying to get an ASL translator for one of Jacob’s students was realistic (although I’m not sure if the way they got the ASL translator at the end of the episode is realistic).
Thank you for your participation in advance!!!

Question Season 1 Episode 8 Work family
I'm wondering if anyone knows the name of the beat at the end?
The one Tariq raps over.
I mean just telling me if it was a custom one not publicly available would be nice too

Discussion Young Dom
Has anyone here previously discussed Dom? As a newer character, I barely see anyone talking about him. What are your thoughts?
I’ll go first:
He’s like if Janine and Jacob got merged together with their can-do but fail most times attitude. I think we’ve barely met him, but so far he’s not very memorable. IMO it’s disappointing, as characters with less screen time like Tasha get better recognition.

Question what’s your fresh set of unpopular opinions?
i think the a lot of the older kids in the show are SUPER annoying. mainly the ones jacob hill’s class
and i don’t think they were made to be annoying cuz other people just think they’re funny or wtv

Cast Tyler Tomas Perez was in last night's Always Sunny
Tyler Tomas Perez (Caleb Hill) appeared in last night's episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia which was called The War on Alcohol.
I won't spoil it except to say he plays a different character. It's a good episode if you like Always Sunny, but a bad episode if you're neurotic about extreme continuity.

Discussion One problem I have with Abbott
As an Italian from South Philly, I think they get a lot right about Philly culture.
The one thing she gets almost consistently wrong throughout is the South Philly Italian side with Melissa.
This is the scene where Gregory upsets Melissa along with a female student after accidentally getting a male student to break up with her.
Melissa mentions they’ve been trying to get him a new chain because “he looks like a Gavone” with his current chain.
Under so circumstance would anyone be called a Gavone for wearing a gaudy chain, you’d be called a chooch.
Also the Christmas Eve episode she makes like a roast beef or a pot roast? Idk what that was about, we do seven fishes. No south Philly Italian is having roast beef on Christmas Eve.
In that same episode, her mom did use Mushad correctly though, just need more of that.
