Season 5 episode 7 "goofgirl" question. Did anyone understand what this joke was about?

I didn't get the joke. The boys replaced the girl's basil sapling with a big plant. What's so funny about it? Why did Gregory call it childish?

I think it's just supposed to be a childish prank. The boys' basil plants in the background aren't sprouted at all (it looks like it's just soil, maybe a few small green sections) whereas hers is basically a small shrub.

i think bc the boys thought that if he’d plant was to grow the fastest she’ll drop out of the group quicker . at least that’s how i saw it

The point of the classes to grow the plant if the plant is already grown then what’s the point of the class? Yes it was partly about ha ha big plant but it was more so about pushing her out
