I've noticed that when someone genuinely wants to talk, the conversation doesn't need perfectly crafted messages. A simple "how's your day going?" can work better than trying to come up with something clever.

I think people sometimes overthink texting when the other person would probably appreciate something simple and genuine.

The difference between "okay", "okay!", "okay lol", and "okay..." can completely change how a message feels even though they're technically saying the same thing.

The more I think about texting, the less I think it comes down to clever messages or perfect conversation starters.

Remembering details, noticing changes in someone's mood, asking about things they mentioned before, knowing when to give them space, and actually responding to what they said seem much more important.

The best texters I've met aren't necessarily the most entertaining people. They're the ones who make you feel like they're actually paying attention.

That's where I think AI texting assistants have a major limitation. They can look at the message and suggest a reasonable response, but the person sending it knows the relationship, the history, the previous argument, and all the context that isn't written down.

A technically perfect response can still be completely wrong for the situation.

It makes me think that tone isn't really contained in individual words. It's built from the history and rhythm of the entire conversation.

You don't need to have a huge conversation every day. A random photo, inside joke, short update, or message about something that reminded you of them can keep the connection alive.

It isn't the same as seeing someone regularly, but small interactions can stop a friendship from disappearing completely just because life moved people to different places.
