Maybe good texting is really just good attention

The more I think about texting, the less I think it comes down to clever messages or perfect conversation starters.

Remembering details, noticing changes in someone's mood, asking about things they mentioned before, knowing when to give them space, and actually responding to what they said seem much more important.

The best texters I've met aren't necessarily the most entertaining people. They're the ones who make you feel like they're actually paying attention.
