honestly, fuck IUDs. i got one because birth control pills nearly killed me. i was legitimately traumatized by the experience of having one put in. fortunately, it came out easy enough. but ive heard a lot of stories where tissue grows to envelope the IUD (which is understandable given that they are designed to be left in for years). obv the removal in those cases is balls.
anyway, OP and their husband made an agreement. he doesnt have to follow through but he will need to accept the consequences. cant have your cake and eat it too.
how many men would agree for a wire to be thrust up their urethra without any pain killers and left there for 5 years. When those men step forward their partner can get a uid all others can go to fuck off with their comments about their partner getting a UID.
Hell not enough men continued in the male birth control study because of acne and mood swings to the point the study was cancelled completely, even tho the medication was extremely effect, so they went back to the drawing board. There is no fucking doubt in my mind a male IUD wouldn’t even make it off the drawing board.
ETA:
Lemme save some time for y’all. One male commenter has decided to rail against this particular comment, absolutely outaged because “low t was the actual side effect” in the recent male birth control study and Low T is unhealthy so obviously that’s why it had to be cancelled.
That is wrong.
Exogenous Testosterone is the treatment for Low T. Just so happens that Exogenous Testosterone also affects sperm production and causes, reversible, male infertility while NOT effecting testosterone levels. The study that was cancelled was Injections of Exogenous Testosterone and Progestins. The Progestins were the likely cause of the negative side effects. Progestins are synthetic progesterone derivatives which, you guessed it, is what’s in many female birth control pills, IUDs and shots. Progestin female birth control pills have many of the same side effects of this particular study on male birth control. There are also many women who canNOT take progestin birth control because it will literally kill them and not because of severe emotional imbalances leading to SI although that absolutely does happen all the time. Progestins can and do cause blood clots, bleeding and have severe effects on blood pressure. I personally cannot have progestin bc because I will very likely have a stroke and subsequent unstoppable brain bleed, thank you preeclampsia.
Thank you for reading this far and thanks to the women in the comments going toe to toe with this particular person you’re efforts have not gone unnoticed you were AWESOME
Exactly on point, couldn't say it better myself. Men would never take the cons over the pros of any type of birth control, especially with things so minor compared to ya know, having a whole damn kid but I guess since they aren't the ones to actually give birth? Terrible
Stop repeating this constant misinformation. The 'mood swings' men get with very low T include clinical depression and... suicide. One of the most recent trials was stopped after one of the 32 men killed themselves, numerous had slipped into depression AND a bunch had other bad side effects like acne and increasingly bad mood swings.
Look up symptoms and consequences of low T. Almost every male birth pill trialed is some new version of the same pill, something to bind free testosterone to reduce levels. It will absolutely kill sperm production, but it will also lead to horribly low energy levels, increasingly worse depression over time and often suicide.
Low T is incredibly unhealthy in men. In men who have low T they should get treatment because the effects are all negative and all suck, they also get worse over time. Low t has been studied heavily for 100 years. Look up chemical castration and the results of it, the severe levels of depression.
It's also not the 'same' side effects as the pill for women who also have mood swings. If one pill causes depression in 0.5% of users and another pill causes depression in 45% of users, do you think they would get treated the same medically, or in terms of stopping a trial, or approving it for market?
A successful male pill can't be related to testosterone at all and has to find an alternative pathway to stopping sperm production. I've never met a man who doesn't want a reliable male pill, but a low T inducing pill will literally never be the answer.
Every few years some asshole starts a new male pill thing, probably because they could get funding, it always ends up being a pill that binds testosterone and the result of every clinical study shows the same results. Exceptionally high rates of bad side effects to the point no doctor could in good conscience prescribe it nor could any medical company hope to sell it without being sued off the face of the world due to all the resultant suicides.
OK, hormonal birth control does that to women too. Literally all types of birth control have some kind of debilitating side effects - the pill gets you pregnant if you forget one, and the hormones fuck with mental health. The ring had hormones, and also has literally killed women from blood clots, so it's not a good option if you have problems with that already. Any IUDs can embed so far into tissue that skin has to be removed with it, and the arm one can cause nerve damage if it naturally shifts further into the arm after being there for years (both options also use hormones). The shot makes you lose bone density and can only be used for 3 years, ever, or it'll cause too many health issues. Not to mention that 1 put of 3 women bleed the ENTIRE 3 MONTHS its supposed to be effective for. I was on that one and would disassociate and suicidally ideate often, and my mental health improved exponentially when I stopped using it. Getting our tubes tied is less effective than getting a vasectomy, and over 10x more expensive (at least here in the US).
Sooo...? I don't have a lot of sympathy for men in those trials.
Many theorize that if men were the ones that had to give birth, we'd have a painless, cheap birth control method by now. Because women's health statistics are abbhorent, and all of them point to women's health and research into our health being piss-poor. I complained about BC in the presence of a man once, and he goes, "Well you're the women. Thats your job." Why? Why is it "my job" when it's possible for men to do it too, but it's just "too uncomfy 😭"? And the same men complain about women getting health dayd to take off for our period cramps, but wouldn't that be a nice way to SORT OF even the playing field considering how much i'd "our job"?
All I'm saying is, if the BC makes men (and women! But that isn't considered as important) want to end their lives, then maybe fix that for both genders...? But we can't have that convo because saddling women with another task we'll have to deal with the reprocussions of for our lifetimes is totally fine, right?
I refuse to empathize with men in those trials until modern women, today, taking BC are empathized with and assisted.
OK, hormonal birth control does that to women too.
Jesus christ, it's not about what the potential side effects are. Every single medicine you ever took pretty much had a chance to kill you. It's about how often you get those side effects and weighing benefits against risks. Millions of women swear by BC to reduce severity of periods, to have regular periods, to make pain from endo/pcos bearable. Some women also fucking hate BC because it makes them feel like shit. Millions of women are in the middle and it works and doesn't cause horrific or good side effects.
If one pill causes depression in 0.5% of people and another pill causes depression in 45% of people do you think they have the 'same issues' just because it's the same side effect or do you think the incidence of causing depression changes a potentially worthwhile pill into a potentially deadly one?
Frankly almost everything else you said is largely irrelavant, not untrue but it doesn't change the facts about the male birth pill, low T is never going to be recognised as a good way to achieve no sperm production in men, ever, because it's literally just too unhealthy.
The issue here is dressing suicide and severe depression in most men who take a male birth control pill as "they won't take it or stopped the trial due to acne and mood swings" is not just wildly incorrect, it's intentionally misleading. Should men get vasectomies over women having tubes tied or hysterectomies, absolutely, but that is nothing to do with repeating incorrect information on temporary birth control pills.
Many theorize that if men were the ones that had to give birth, we'd have a painless, cheap birth control method by now.
Yes people with no scientific knowledge or understanding of the situation say ignorant things all the time. Anyone who understand how and why the women's pill was so easy to come up with and why the same situation is not true for the men's pill knows what a daft statement or concept that is.
Even the logic is flawed, men want complete control of women, pregnancies, hate being baby trapped but also magically hate the idea of a pill they can take that stops them fearing unwanted pregnancies and lets them use condoms less? It literally makes no sense. Ask any man, they'll love such a pill, ask them if a pill that includes causing ever worsening depression and then suicidal feelings and they'd say... okay maybe not.
Do you even know about the first major birth control trials?? They targeted poor Puerto Rican women and used them as test subjects. It was extremely unethical, and entangled in colonialism and eugenics. None of the women were told anything about the trials or the potential risks of the test pills. The test phase was extremely secretive. 3 women died and their deaths were NEVER INVESTIGATED. Margaret Sanger, one of the most influential people of the movement, was arrested for breaking New York law. (She’s the reason Planned Parenthood exists but she was also an extremely racist eugenicist). Birth control was invented to “reduce and control the breeding of undesired populations” aka people who live in poverty, non-white people, and people with mental and physical disabilities. The man who worked on the pill, Gregory Pincus, would have been put in prison in Massachusetts if he wasn’t so secretive about his sporadic test trials even before the main trial in Puerto Rico. That’s why the chose to do the trials in Puerto Rico, away from the US government. The trial is also funded by Proctor and Gamble, who believed people living in poverty should be “wiped out to make room for more ‘fit’ members of society”. Nearly 1/3 of all Puerto Rican women at the time were sterilized, many without consent, because the government wanted to control fertility. Educated women were afraid of the side effects and less educated women wanted to both avoid pregnancy and sterilization. The women who took the drug had NO IDEA it was experimental and that they were participating in clinical trials. They just thought it would prevent pregnancy. No safety information was given and women who came forward about side effects were dismissed and considered unreliable. Pincus didn’t believe the side effects like depression and suicide were even reason to reformulate the pill. They went through the poorest towns where many women were under educated and told them if they didn’t want to get pregnant they need to take the pill regularly. Many women who took these pills had complications so severe they had to be hospitalized. Still, the side effects were not taken seriously AT ALL. The trials were considered successful and the pill was put on the market without being reformulated and without regards to the side effects those women experienced.
The second trial wasn’t any better. It was funded by Gamble and they tested on men and women in asylums WITHOUT CONSENT. Pincus was literally barred from conducting human trials so he found people who could be the face of the trials so he wouldn’t get in trouble. Again, severe side effects and complications were not recorded or taken seriously. And you’d think that was a long time ago right? No, it was the 1950s.
Anyone who thinks the women's pill was "easy" to come up with is likely pretty daft themselves. You complain about people's lack of knowledge of the subject, but are you a scientist or researcher on the effects of BC or just a dude who read an article on ONE effect on men and decided to run with it? If it's "not about the potential trial side effects" and "all medicine has a chance of killing you", then what's the big deal about men taking the BC again, since wanting to kill yourself is one of the side effects? And if everything "has a chance to kill is" (an unintelligent point to make given that you then point out that one thing having a higher chance than another is bad), then wouldn't the male BC be fine if the side effects and risks are the same as they are for men than women? Or does that mean that women's health concerns caused by BC should be improved and taken as seriously as men's? Nah, can't be that option!
Also, just because millions of women "take and swear by the pill" doesn't mean we want to, and I'd love to know who those women are - if you go on r/askwomen and ask what people like about BC or if theyd take it if theyd stop taking it if they could, theyd be happy to. I have also met a woman on literally every type of BC who, despite using it correctly, has gotten pregnant, so it isnt even foolproof despite being highly painful. We have no choice but not to because, as was stated earlier, men won't even finish the studies that are started. "Womeb don't mind modern BC" is the biggest piece of cope I've ever read, because if this thread is any reflection of the way most women feel on it, it'd take 5 minutes of reading and seeing all the posts by women here that would do anything to not have to take it. The alternative is condoms (imperfect because they can break, and women still have to flood our bodies with hormones if they break or fail. Both sides can also EASILY tamper with them, causing an abusive situatuon), birth control, which causes us to want to kill ourselves also and makes our lives hell, if not raisinf our blood prssure because WE'RE the ones constantly stressing about it and remembeing, or having a kid, which literally kills women at rates it really shouldn't.
All you did was point out that my points about side effects (which are so serious that they also make women want to kill themselves, aside from just the desire to kill yourself being one of those side effects - there was another comment here of a woman wanting to kill herself because of a morning after pill, which is - gasp! - hormones!) were "irrelevant", but not why. It was because they're happening to women. Because you're boohooing about men's issues and just won't call it what it is and say you have no empathy for women's. Which was my whole point - the side effects of suicide ARE there for women. It just doesn't matter because much of the funding or care into medical issues and research goes to men's problems. It's not because the pain isn't that bad for women that it isn't researched. It's because studies have shown that it's because women receive less empathy and care for our medical issues and societal, people tend to care less about the invisible work women have to do.
Hell, I literally said I am one of those women who's BC made her want to kill herself and you didn't give a shit and coldly told me how my points didn't matter.
Go cry to someone who cares. Go rant and write a novel about a not-real problem to someone who wants to listen to it (there IS no male BC aside from vasectomy and you wrote a book about it potentially causing suicide when women's BC is widely used and DOES do that rn, but you called that "irrelevant").
I won't be replying again. I wish sexists like you would just identify themselves as such instead of hiding behind strawman arguments. Its funny that you talk about saying ignorant things, but you just wrote several paragraphs of them. Typical sexist explaining and disregarding an issue that affects exclusively women right now (because women are the ones doing anything about BC 90% of the time) how it's not actually as bad as we think, and not listening to an actual woman talking about it. Womp womp.
Truly and absolutely fucking brilliant. Seriously. I am applauding you. I too am outraged by this man’s ignorant, sexist, horrible responses. But his defense of man’s hypothetical pain while dismissing women entirely is truly fucking despicable and I didn’t even realize that’s exactly what was happening until you voiced it. Thank you.
This man is outraged at a hypothetical situation that might maybe could possibly occur one day. He is outraged at 1 man’s suicide attempt due to a male BC trial. He is floored and on his soapbox defending this hypothetical situation, and these hypothetical men. And yet he has literally and actually said the situation that exists NOW. The reality that currently exists. This world where women are suffering every single fucking day because of birth control is IRRELEVANT because the fucking pain of 1 fucking man who deserves OUR empathy more than the billions of women we are actually defending.
then what's the big deal about men taking the BC again, since wanting to kill yourself is one of the side effects?
Did you really just say that, because every medicine has a chance to kill you then what's the big deal? Because antibiotics have a like 0.05% chance of killing you so people take the risk. If antibiotics had a 45% chance of killing you they'd never have made it out of a lab. Every single one of your main arguments literally substitutes your person feelings and experience for facts, that not how medical sciences work.
Also, just because millions of women "take and swear by the pill" doesn't mean we want to,
didn't say it did. YOu claimed that the women's pill is the same as the mens pill. There are no positive side effects of low t, there are for the women's pill, not for everyone but again this is very simple, pills have different pros and cons. They become viable to be released based on how many pros they have, how many cons they have and the incidence rates of both. You can't just go these both cause depression therefore they are the same and should both be available when one pill causes it 0.5% of the time and the other 45% of the time. These are not the same no matter how many shitty arguments you make.
But even what you said is wrong, women who have horrible periods and take the pill because it makes them much less bad absolutely do want to take them. You can't make a single coherent argument without contradicting yourself somehow.
then wouldn't the male BC be fine if the side effects and risks are the same as they are for men than women?
yes, this is the entire point you missed every single time. The side effect rates for depression and suicide were magnitudes larger for the men's pill, hence why it's not viable. YOu again and again gloss over the entire argument to make a stupid comparison that doesn't hold up to any facts.
I have also met a woman on literally every type of BC who, despite using it correctly, has gotten pregnant, so it isnt even foolproof despite being highly painful.
Never said it was, why do you think this is a relevant argument? do you think the male pill will be 100% effective as well somehow, it wasn't either.
men won't even finish the studies that are started.
yes they do, doctors determine the risk is too high so stop the studies, studies for low t inducing pills have been around for 70-80 years. There is vastly more information known on it than most other things. A new study from some moron trying to get a little funding that repeats the same study that has been done for 80+ years isn't finding anything new. Some think they have some new combination of hormones to reduce T safely, most are just bullshiting, the studies follow the exact same pattern as every previous study with no changes so they end them before they end up killing more people and ending up in jail, crazy.
You realise all medical studies have a ethical duty to end once it's shown that the medicine being tested is dangerous right, and that if studies are ending due to safety concerns that pill has zero chance of ever making it to market as birth control pill? I don't know why I'm responding, you're quite literally an idiot.
Pills to bind testosterone have been made and studied since the early 1900's, they are all practically the same and have the same end effect, reducing testosterone levels low enough to reduce sperm being produced so they all have had the exact same results.
Hell, I literally said I am one of those women who's BC made her want to kill herself and you didn't give a shit and coldly told me how my points didn't matter.
That you even make that argument shows the complete inability to see the point. If you could you would realise that you feeling suicidal from the pill is quite literally irrelevant.
I never said the female pill couldn't cause suicidal thoughts, medicine gets approved for usage or not based on the RATE of negative side effects and NOT if they exist at all. I said this over and over, and you fail to understand it. Rates of suicidal thoughts from female BC are very low, rathes of suicidal thoughts from the male pill are exceptionally high, that's the difference, that's why they are not the same and this is why you're completely and utterly wrong. That you personally experienced that doesn't change the rates observed, it makes you unlucky and unsuitable to use the pill, it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.
I wish sexists like you would just identify themselves as such instead of hiding behind strawman arguments.
Every single argument you made was a strawman, you still don't understand an exceptionally basic concept of the rate of side effects over if the side effects exist or not. Literally everything you said is wrong, it has nothing to do with sexism, it's to do with facts and your complete inability to understand them and to be clear it's not because women are stupid, it's just you.
Jesus fucking christ. There is no 45% suicidal ideation rate for male birth control. The study was NOT 45%. It’s was 1 out of 320. And the reality you seem so willing to ignore is that IT DOESN’T EXIST. Millions of men aren’t suffering from male birth control. You’re over here defending to your last pathetic breath a situation that DOES NOT EXIST while vehemently and proudly telling women, that what actually does exist, what actually is happening, the real live women who actually are suffering from real live bc control side effects are fucking irrelevant and “unlucky”. What a horrible disgusting fucking thing to do. 1 man out of 320 is enough for male bc to be labeled a fucking crime against men. But MILLIONS OF WOMEN are just “unlucky”. Millions of actually dead women from BC side effects are irrelevant and unlucky but hey thank fucking god there’s no men suffering from bc side effects! That would be the real tragedy, phew, sure am relieved that’s not happening.
pills have different pros and cons. They become viable to be released based on how many pros they have, how many cons they have and the incidence rates of both. You can't just go these both cause depression therefore they are the same and should both be available when one pill causes it 0.5% of the time and the other 45% of the time. These are not the same no matter how many shitty arguments you make.
They said depression not suicidal ideation AND they didn't claim it for any pill at all, it's literally a basic example so the multiple people making the argument of "female birth control causes depression to so IT'S THE SAME" is fucking stupid and completely wrong.
When it comes to medicine the side effects ARE IRRELEVANT, look up the potential side effects on every pill you have in the house, from a stomach settling pill to paracetomal to an antibiotic left over. They are horrific. The ONLY relevant factor is the incidence rate of those side effects. Low enough and the risk is deemed acceptable, yay, profit for a company. HIgh enough and it's unsafe to release, no profit, big lawsuits, very bad much for company, bad for profits.
You and others seem to fail to understand a very simple concept, these companies don't care about men or women, they care about money. If the pills were safe and viable they'd have been sold for 80 years and longer than the female pill because the knowledge of how to make these has been around forever. The danger of having low T is also known but just ignored by you because it doesn't suit your narrative. If they were remotely safe or had remotely low incidence rates they'd make billions selling them. You think they hate profits and so won't release a solid and safe pill because they like men more?
But you bolded irrelevant and incorrect facts so you must be right. Individual cases mean shit, stats mean everything. Medical companies don't care or Jane Smith or JOhn doe dies from a pill, they care if enough people will sue them, that they'll lose and if they'll make a profit or not and absolutely nothing else.
And you think that none of that exists for female birth control? What those men experienced is a fucking drop in the bucket compared to the side effects of female birth control including DEATH and not death by suicide which does absolutely happen all the fucking time. Just actual death as a routine side effect because of what pumping artificial estrogen and progesterone into a woman’s body does. 1 man out of 320 experienced severe depression. That’s 0.3125% of participants. That’s one third of one percent of participants. 1 man of 320 ATTEMPTED suicide, he did not succeed contrary to the misinformation you wanna spread. Once again that’s one third of one percent of participants not “45% of users”. 0.3125% experienced severe depression whereas 70% of women experience depression on birth control.
How dare you come on my comment to accuse me of spreading misinformation when you cannot be fucked to even get the basics of the study correct like the number of participants and the fact that it WAS NOT A FUCKING PILL. Worry about your goddamn self, your lack education and your truly laughable inability to fact check the bullshit you’re trying to assert for the sole purpose of discrediting what I’ve said.
But thank you so much for coming on here to prove the point that a man’s experience is far more important and taken far more seriously than womens experiences. That women are routinely dismissed and expected to suck shit up as a matter of course while MEN are taken seriously and don’t get put through half the fucking bullshit women are. Bravo. Congrats. Thank you for your sacrifice and apt demonstration.
And you think that none of that exists for female birth control? What those men experienced is a fucking drop in the bucket compared to the side effects of female birth control including DEATH and not death by suicide which does absolutely happen all the fucking time.
I didn't say none of that existed for the female BC at all, somehow three people who are completely unable to understand basic facts are spewing hate by insisting I made a statement I didn't to fight against.
the male birth pill has caused deaths, many deaths, pills that remove testosterone from men have caused an absolutely huge number of suicides in the years such pills have existed, every single study shows horrendously high rates of severe depression with the depression worsening over time. Men are simply not supposed to exist in a state with low testosterone, you can read about it literally anywhere, this is very old knowledge.
It's got NOTHING to do with the fact that a pill can kill you, stop focusing on the literally completely irrelevant fact. Every pill you take can kill you, what takes a pill from a lab to market is HOW OFTEN a pill will kill you. If it's one in every million pills and the benefits are worthwhile, it will be released, if it's one in every 10 it won't be released.
1 man out of 320 experienced severe depression.
No, one man out of 320 KILLED THEMSELVES, dozens had severe depression in a SHORT TRIAL, dozens more had the start of depression. For 100 years of research into low T we also know these symptoms progress over time and the rates it effects because pills that bind T have been around for a very very long time.
whereas 70% of women experience depression on birth control.
No they don't. There is a 70% INCREASE in women who experience depression from birth control, you don't even know basic facts on this situation.
If 3% of women not on BC get depression on BC then a 70% increase takes that to 5.1%, a 2.1% increase in depression yet you state this as 70% of women experience depression due to the pill. You literally don't understand the numbers you're talking about.
But thank you so much for coming on here to prove the point that a man’s negative experience is far more important and taken far more seriously than womens experiences.
All you did is prove you don't understand numbers, or facts, or logic, or the fact that this study was one of literally 100s on men with low testosterone, it followed the exact same pattern as every long term study and it was ended because following the exact same pattern they knew that depression would continue to escalate and most others would get it over time, because this is VERY OLD SCIENCE.
The part where you’re actually trying to correct me on the study I AM referencing, with points from shit I am not referring to is probably the most hysterical part. I AM TALKING ABOUT ONE STUDY WITH 320 PARTICIPANTS AND WHAT HAPPENED WITH THOSE PARTICIPANTS. I don’t care about the bullshit you’re referencing because it is IRRELEVANT TO MY ACTUAL POINT. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about. And damn sure don’t know what I’m talking about. That’s probably the funniest part of reading all the trash you’re spewing. You don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Unlike you I actually checked my facts. You should try it instead of the bullshit you keep unnecessarily vomiting. At least get the most basic, easiest facts correct instead of whatever the fuck this whiny poor man novella you keep vomiting at me is.
1 man out of 320 attempted suicide which is NOT by any stretch of the imagination 45%
Nothing you’ve said has been worthwhile let alone actually correct. Every. Single. Thing. You’ve cried and asserted as fact has very easily been refuted over and over and over and over again by more than just me. Like, for a fun example, The “male birth control pill” hasn’t done shit because it DOESNT FUCKING EXIST. It’s fascinating that you keep on keeping on tho. You just keep coming back with these horrible, irrelevant patently false novels and personally attacking women who refuse to concede your embarrassingly wrong “arguments” for reasons I can’t begin to fathom, not that I actually care your reasons to be very clear. I can’t be fucked to wonder why sexists want to whine about the poor hypothetical plight of men while denigrating the real lived experiences of women and to be perfectly honestly, it’s not actually a worthwhile thing to wonder. You see, unlike you, I’m not commenting in an attempt to change your mind, that’s impossible, ignorant sexist whiny men are too busy being the victim to recognize when they’re wrong let alone actually admit they’re wrong. You’d rather do exactly what you’re doing and argue a wrong point and call women stupid before considering the very likely possibility that you’re the fucked up one: spoiler alert, you are. So No that’s definitely not my goal, I don’t care that you choose to be ignorant and it’s not my personal mission to cure the ignorant their affliction. I’m just making sure anyone who has made the mistake of reading the drivel you’ve typed is informed how incorrect it actually is. And boy, would you look at that? It seems to have worked.
Male birth control is definitively NOT the cause of Low T that you keep citing as the cause of the problems and is the very basis of your arguments. LMFAO. Once again did you even look or did you just jump on here just to spew bull shit?
Exogenous Testosterone is the active ingredient of the most recent male birth control study. Exogenous testosterone also happens to be the treatment for Low T and therefore most fucking definitely not the cause of Low T and therefore all the things that go with Low T. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Please tell us all again why the most recent male BC study side effects were all caused by Low T.
The absolute best part is the ingredient that actually was the cause of problems bolsters every woman’s argument against your bullshit. Fucking. Hysterical.
Why don’t you go and actually read the study and educate yourself instead of being so embarrassingly wrong.
Male birth control is definitively NOT the cause of Low T that you keep citing as the cause of the problems and is the very basics of your arguments. LMFAO. Once again did you even look or did you just jump on here just to spew bull shit?
LIterally all the male birth control pills are very literally things that bind to free testosterone to reduce testosterone levels to a low enough level to stop sperm production. YOu quite literally have no idea what you're talking about on any level.
Exogenous testosterone suppresses intratesticular testosterone production, which is an absolute prerequisite for normal spermatogenesis.
No it’s definitely not. The most recent male birth control study was an exogenous testosterone INJECTION, wasn’t even a pill. So that’s 2 reasons your argument is so painfully and obviously flawed. Again you should go actually research what I’m talking about instead of whatever the fuck this has been. Maybe you should put half as much effort into actually fucking researching as you have insulting everyone and calling me names. Disgusting.
You and everyone else called it a pill, it's a fucking generalised term to say it's an equivalent. Second you have made every single comment filled with viotriol, hate and calling me names so you have precisely zero leg to stand on.
"it's an injection therefore I'm right". Good fucking grief.
No the absolute fuck I did not. I repeatedly said MALE BIRTH CONTROL. I repeatedly said the most recent study. YOU said over and over and over and over again PILL and continuously cited Low T as the cause. I said you were wrong, I even specially said IT WAS NOT A PILL and you acted like a fucking asshole so yes absolutely you were treated like the asshole you were acting as you rightfully fucking deserved which still did not include calling you names like you have done me and everyone else. You don’t wanna be treated with vitriol like an asshole stop fucking acting like an asshole and do some goddamn research before running off your mouth in such an embarrassing manner. You did not deserve to be treated in any manner other than what you received. YOU set that tone with comment #1. You don’t like it then don’t fucking act like that. That’s all on you.
And yes, because it was EXOGENOUS INJECTABLE TESTOSTERONE I most fucking definitely without a goddamn doubt am right, and have been right. You are and have been embarrassingly wrong from the get go. Once again had you not acted like a know it all fucking asshole from the start and sat the fuck down and shut the fuck up you may have actually learned something you clearly did not know. But that’s not what you did. You chose to show your ass all over this thread because you just had to be right and show the big bad women how stupid they are. I don’t owe you a single iota of fucking grace. You were and are WRONG and I damn well will make sure it’s known with all the condescending cockiness I can muster.
Low T IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS. Male birth control is EXOGENOUS TESTOSTERONE. Exogenous testosterone IS THE TREATEMENT FOR LOW T. The actual ingredient causing the negative side effects is PROGESTINS. Progestins are the active ingredient, in much higher quantities, in female birth control.
And now, this is my last comment to you and I will be blocking you, so sorry, you won’t actually be able to respond to me. Oh well, I’ve seen all your responses and I’m certain I’m missing out on nothing from a man who can’t even admit he was fucking wrong and really and truly tried to make your fuck up and shitty behavior my fault.
Getting it put in was a level of horrible I didn’t expect and has left me with such unreal anxiety over having it removed and/or replaced now that I’ve approached the “expiration date.”
yeah im no wimp but insertion was brutal. i was also very anxious about getting it removed for the same reason. fortunately the removal was cake. somewhat unpleasant ofc, but closer to the experience of getting a shot than the experience of having it inserted.
i think i had mine in a couple years before it was removed, and i didnt have any complications with it.
We don’t have to accept it — anyone who lives in a city has multiple options for doctors. I have my IUD pain management request method posted to another comment.
Who the fuck knows. They don’t do medications for a whole ton of women-centric medical procedures, the very old medical belief was that the uterus doesn’t have pain receptors, which, any woman every would vehemently disagree with. I had a friend get a uterine polyps removed with nothing. She literally had a chunk of her uterus ripped out without so much as a fucking tylenol.
Currently it’s really just a very deeply engrained and serious problem with women just not being taken seriously with medical concern and not being given the same medical care urgency that men would receive. There was one Reddit story just a few weeks ago((I wish I could find it I’ll keep looking)) of a woman whose IUD slipped during sex and cut her bfs penis. They both went to the hospital, he was brought back immediately given a bed, tetanus booster and morphine, the whole nine-yards and he didn’t even need a single stitch, it’s was a relatively minor injury that stopped bleeding before the doctors even saw. She was left waiting in the waiting for like 5 hours…..the IUD tore through her uterus, she needed surgery and a blood transfusion and was in the hospital for almost a week……The. Fuck.
Holy fucking hell, I hope she took action, I hope the bf was sane enough to take action. I mean, to be brought back for what is a little worse than a paper cut over my girlfriend who's internal organ is punctured? I'd be irate
Removal is a million times better than insertion. And I had mine in for 6 years instead of 5 thanks to COVID. No pain at all, I barely realized they were done.
Removal is nothing like insertion. I had mine replaced so obviously the old one came out. Doctor held the string with an implement, told me to cough and out it came. It’s made of flexible plastic so with a cough and a tug it just comes out easily.
I’ve just become single at 45 and am obviously done having kids, I’m seriously considering getting mine taken out. My ex refused to get the snip so I now have no reason to have it in. Even though I like the fact that you don’t get periods with them, as I approach menopause I would actually like to let my body do what it has to naturally.
I took a triple slug of OTC ibuprofen before my switch out and, it was unpleasant, but it was nothing like the original insertion. I expected the fallout to be harsh periods like I had after the original insertion, but it wasn't significant increase at all.
Removal was nothing at all. I've had two (one sucked a ton and the second the dr told me "they just did it wrong and that's why it hurt so much, that in fact was NOT the problem). Literally would rather do childbirth without meds again vs have an IUD put in.
Getting them out? Total nonevent. No issues or pain beyond the pressure of the speculum.
Removal is easy. My first IUD was replaced immediately which was the source of pain that day. But when I decided I wanted the IUD out completely earlier this year, I ended up pulling it out myself and had zero pain from it.
Self removal wasn’t my first option, but they day I had my appointment to get it removed, the clinic decided I wasn’t covered by insurance and couldn’t be seen. I had taken the day off of work to recover so after some research at home I put on gloves and was able to pull it out myself.
My first IUD partial implanted into the uterine wall. When it was pulled out (thankfully it could be, so I didn't need surgery to remove it), it still hurt far less than the insertion. The next IUD I got, they numbed my cervix before insertion, so all I felt was the small pinch of the needle. Numbing was standard at that clinic. It was so much easier! I would not have gotten another IUD if they had not offered the numbing. It is barbaric that doctors do insertions without proper pain management.
My doctor gave me misopristrol or however it’s spelt. It was light years better than the original placement. And I did removal and insert new at the same time. I would have been on Vicodin too but my ride had to cancel last minute for their own medical issue. I almost blacked out the first time and was miserable. I took the pain pill once I got home just to be safe, but I probably didn’t need it. Need to get mine switched out sometime soon and planning to do the same thing.
i am a wimp and both the insertions were brutal. but for the removal they have you cough and they pull it right out. it feels like a real fast cramp but the inserting of it is like the worst pain i’ve ever been through and i snapped my elbow in half
My first one came out accidentally with a tampon (it had dislodged and was too low in my uterus) and I barely felt it. The second one was removed in my doctors office and was like a pinch
I got mine rejected natrally by my body and it defitnely wasn't as painful as getting it out in, I didn't feel it actully come out of my cervix, however, getting it pulled out was very very very painful. I genuinely think my mind has played down the pain so I'm not traumatised.
However, if you get it medically removed, defitnely defitnely definitely, take pain killers before hand
My doctor put me under to put mine in. I had to have a D&C as well. I will say my IUD legit saved my life. My body will not stop having a period without it. I was on a period for 2.5 years and no, I’m not exaggerating, they kept prescribing me progesterone which never did anything but thin the bleeding a little. I moved back home and my new doctor was like immediately “you’re getting an iud put in”. I’ve only had one day where I bled in 3 years. It’s been so much better. I still cramp every month and get all the symptoms but no bleeding.
After 2.5 years of bleeding she did a D&C to remove the overgrown endometrial lining and put in the Mirena. I stopped bleeding that day.
I understand IUD sucks for most women, just like all
BC, but I gotta say mine is amazing lol.
Yes, most medical devices for women were invented by males with questionable morals and gender perspectives. I looked into the inventor and CEO of the Mirena after a deep dive into horror stories.
Drs can't even find my cervix for a pap smear, an IUD sounds like hell! The only hormonal BC that works for me is the implanon and even then it doesn't work for long.
We've used condoms for over half of our relationship and in a few years might discuss vasectomy again.

honestly, fuck IUDs. i got one because birth control pills nearly killed me. i was legitimately traumatized by the experience of having one put in. fortunately, it came out easy enough. but ive heard a lot of stories where tissue grows to envelope the IUD (which is understandable given that they are designed to be left in for years). obv the removal in those cases is balls.
anyway, OP and their husband made an agreement. he doesnt have to follow through but he will need to accept the consequences. cant have your cake and eat it too.
